ST Anakin Skywalker in the New Films

In aII honesty, I wouId Iike just a simpIe nod to Haydakin and Padme. A hoIo of the wedding in Luke's possesion, or of Anakin and Obi-Wan during the CIone Wars in the new Senate that peopIe pass by - Even if it's a 'bIink twice and you'II miss it' thing, I'd Iove that.

 

By the time of TFA, has Luke learned how to become a Force Ghost himself when the time comes? It's not something Obi-Wan or Yoda taught him in the OT, and was only briefly referenced in ROTS by Yoda. Teaching Luke and Luke's young students the importance of spirit over body, and how to achieve "spirit hood" after leaving your body could be reason enough for Yoda to appear in the ST...As for Anakin, there are a whole host of reasons and possibilities of why he would appear to Luke or his grandchildren in the ST.

I understand why someone's distaste for the PT would make them not want to see Hayden as Anakin ever again, but I can't see why so many people think that even with solid writing and direction Hayden would be incapable of turning in a good performance in one scene as a Force Ghost. It would not be that difficult of a challenge for an actor, and frankly, a very unique and dynamic scene between an older and wise but challenged Jedi and his "younger" fallen-but-redeemed father. How interesting that could me.

I think there are two simultaneous debates going on here but they are getting muddled with each other in impassioned debate.

1. Is it narratively beneficial to have Anakin appear in the ST in spectral form?
2. Is Hayden capable of performing well in such a scene?

I happen to believe that YES is a valid answer to both questions.

 

Id like to see Hayden as Anakin again. Would be interesting to see how they fit him in there but a scene with Kylo Ren would be interesting

 

A Hayden force ghost would be a awesome way to tie the trilogys together.

It would have to be an hallucination or a trick of the darkside, because Vader no longer exists. Anakin was redeemed.

 

I'd definitely like to seem him return as I can think of no one more qualified to warn of the dangers of the dark side and maybe even to explain how to avoid/overcome it. It'd also be interesting to hear his views on his own redemption, I've personally struggled a great deal with the sheer number of atrocities he's committed or supported and it would be interesting to hear how he's reconciled himself with his own actions.

What Disney doesn't need/want is for vitriolic fans to make a huge stink the minute their new movie (on which everything else hinges) comes out. That's just common sense.

Super-controversial elements like Jar-Jar, Hayden or Midiclorians simply won't be in it.

I never said I don't like "Hayden ghost scene". I am too huge a Darth Vader fan not to want an Anakin force ghost scene in the ST. I could put up with Hayden if it means getting that.

 

Put me into the group that would love the see Anakin appear in at least one of the upcoming films. A scene between Luke and Anakin to me would be completely fascinating. Everyone moans about Hayden in the PT, but let's face it, there were few good performances, Ian McD and Ewan aside. GL just didnt seem to know how to get strong performances from his cast. Given a solid actors director, I think we get a fine performance out of Hayden, even a great one.

Can you provide a source? I'm not saying you're lying or anything, I've just never seen him state a concrete position on a controversial issue such as that.

 

Watch it be Hayden's best performance in the entire saga. The poor scripts were truly to blame.

I'd love a scene were he asks for guidance from his father. Also it would be awesome if they try to find out more about their mother. Maybe they go to Naboo shortly and meet one of Padme's niece's, Luke and Leia's cousins. Maybe they find some holos of Padme and Anakin. I don't care how small the mention is.

I don't think Disney would care if hardcore fans became "super vitriolic," they know there is 100% chance this will happen regardless of what is in the movie. The general public- well, that is obviously another story.

Of the 3 things you mention, I think only one would draw that sort of reaction from casual fans (Binks). I don't think your average movie goer would get their panties in a bunch over Hayden appearing, and I don't think if you quizzed the average person, they would even remember what a Midichlorian was.

It makes no difference as far as TFA goes, as it is confirmed none of those 3 things will appear; also, I don't think Binks or the Midichlorian thing will ever surface in SW again outside of spoofs, but Hayden is another story. I think it would be foolhardy to count him out of SW for good; he was Vader, and Vader was the central character in Lucas's overall Star Wars concept (per Lucas himself, the central character was not Luke or anyone else).

 

He'd say some bs like "It is you destiny."

 

More like "Throw sand at them - It gets everywhere!"

 

The fans who would get upset are a small population of the people going to the movie. Jar Jar may be the only one that angers or annoys the General Public.
