I just hope they don't go the obi-attack-of-the-clones-fake-beard with Luke... My hope is that he is rocking the awesome one he grew in TFA and shaves it off for the sequel "Rumble with the Ren" :D

^ Mine is kinda like that (maybe I keep it a little shorter, actually), but I have a big space under my mouth area that goes to my chin, so it kind of looks like my beard is split in two.

I am pro at this beard stuff.

I'm best rocking the permanent five o clock shadow (completely clean shaven is no longer possible for me lol) but I got tired of my face feeling like sandpaper so I've got a short beard now. said it before but how mark can hate beards is beyond me 'cause he looks on point.

TK327 I'd say that's PRETTY CLOSE to what I was envisioning when pitching the idea to Venamis. It would honestly be the PERFECT climax to the 3rd act, with the Luke/Rey/Skellig scenes happening afterwards, but I'd say it's very unlikely this is the way it plays out. It was fun to visualize it all, nonetheless. Here's hoping for Luke vs Kylo in Episode 8, if we don't get it in The Force Awakens.

there are tons of ideas for luke vs kylo that would be much better.

if luke just appears out of nowhere to save the day in that sort of way at any point in tfa I will probably facepalm 'cause there's pretty much no point to that at all other than to provide the equivalent of pornographic material for a certain group of fans.

well, I was thinking maybe throughout the film Luke is in contact with Rey through The Force, and it's driving her insane LOL. Maybe not. But no one knows what's really in the script, they just have some of the story beats from the shooting schedule. I don't think they'd write it to where Luke just shows up out of thin air. I definitely think there are some clever ways which you can bring him in and still keep the framework of the film, that we know exists. And even if he did show up out of nowhere, can you imagine the POP in the theater? People would probably be running up and down the aisles doing one-handed cartwheels Chris Farley style. I remember the pop Yoda got when he showed up in Attack of The Clones to face Dooku, granted, he didn't show up outta nowhere, but I think they could come up with something similar, that would appeal to everyone. Just as long as CGI Luke isn't jumping and flipping all over the place :D

gonna give you points for giving the most sensible response in favour of luke saving the day I have yet to seen.

the problem with this for me is that it's basically looking for an excuse to put luke in. we shouldn't need to do that. the way they have it set up now (based on what we know) is natural and more importantly purposeful. if we're looking for ways for luke to show up just 'cause then we lose sight of purpose. luke showing and fighting just 'cause people are dying to see luke show up and do some weird fantasy fan fiction stuff diminishes so much and lacks meaningful purpose. I think the yoda scene in atoc suffers the same problem. I'm cool with yoda getting action and would have done it if I wrote the story but not like that. given that obi-wan was there they could have made it to where the scene was about more about the master-apprentice dynamic but instead it's basically a 'bigger and badder' rotation with heroes instead of villains. obi-wan gets injured just as an excuse to get yoda in there, which adds nothing meaningful to the plot whatsoever. I don't remember the audience reaction at the time but even if the audience 'popped' then, it's more widely agreed on to be a ridiculous scene now. that's what'll happen if we look for ways to force luke to do some corny scene like that. maybe part of the audience will pop in the theater. some will facepalm. years later almost everyone will facepalm. that's what I mean by the short term urge for this type of scene not being worth it in the long run.

thing is luke's character doesn't need to be 'forced in' like this and what they've done does way more justice to him. the biggest 'luke fans' on this site actually have a very weird perspective on luke if you ask me lol.

I think Luke stepping in at the end only works well at the moment as speculation if you've decided the basic framework as per the MSW info is off or incomplete (which is fair enough).

If that basic spine is off then all bets are off and we'd be probably be looking at more Luke or a slightly different set up from the Luke has been missing for years set up. Then the structure and context would be different and in all likelihood geared towards the pay off of Luke stepping in in act three without making it seem forced or Deus Ex Machina.

But I do agree that if the MSW info IS forming the spine of the speculation, it's hard to see Luke stepping in (at least from what we think know).

It'll be interesting to see if the next trailer blows the speculation wide open on this front, ends the debate or keeps us guessing right up until release.

Well, my day has officially been made. I just logged into Twitter and saw Mark Hamill favorited the art I got Venamis to commission. Very cool. I re-posted a screenshot on my Instagram.

I hope all of you thoroughly enjoyed it. I have some other ideas I want Venamis to bring to life, in the near future, as well. Not only ideas I have consisting of beloved characters, but some ideas for my own characters and for my Star Wars influenced Hip Hop EP I'm still in the midst of creating.

rumours circulating that Kylo Ren is the 'inversion' of Luke. this sounds like quite an interesting direction to take this character.
a question, does anyone else think that palpatine's speech to Anakin was a mixture of literal, figurative and complete lies? ive always thought that scene was supposed to be ambiguous at best and not to be taken so literally. however, ive seen countless people take this as for realsies and hence believe Plagueis can create life (the part i thought was a lie to swing anakin over).

this is definitely true, i think it really is up in the air. i however think that Luke overshadowing the younger characters in the first ST is a little bit far fetched. not saying it cant happen, (it would be great to see luke have a light sabre battle) but i highyl doubt it based on evertyhing we've seen.
the little snippet of Finn preparing to fight with the blue sabre, seemingly at least confirms PART of the outline on MSW. i actually thought previously that that was a scene that wasnt going to show up in the movie because i thought it would be silyl to have a dark side user experienced with a sbare fight someone thats never used one before (and get rekt because of it), but i think now that has shown us otherwise, its PRETTY MUCH got that part right, and chewy coming into to save the two youngsters sounds terrific.

Interesting that out of the thousands of pieces of fanart, he would favorite one where Luke fights Ren at Stakiller Base. Things that make you go [face_thinking]

I think it was definitely literal. RM confirmed it on the DVD commentary ICYMI.

To be fair, Finn fighting Ren was also part of the Luke saves the day rumors as well, so seeing Finn with a saber also confirms part of that rumor as well. Ren fighting 2 untrained characters is one of the reasons Luke saving the day makes sense. If Yoda can save Anakin and Obi-Wan, 2 highly trained Jedi, from Dooku, surely Luke can save 2 untrained characters from Kylo without overshadowing them.

I thought the theory was that they escape Kylo during an earthquake/landslide caused by the destruction of Starkiller, and Chewie shows up in the Falcon to evacuate them. No Luke required for that.
