ST Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) in Episode VII

Many of us, believe it or not, are not concerned about whether Luke establishes a full-blown order. Yoda told him to pass on what he had learned. Then he mentioned that there was another Skywalker. He's obviously referring to Leia, here. Establishing an order was never mentioned. I can appreciate folks who want to see him build an order. But it's not required to fulfill Yoda's request. In fact, it's not even, precisely speaking, what Yoda seemed to be suggesting.

 

People might not like this, I think it could be powerful: Luke was born at the rise of the empire. For the sake of story, he should die with the resurrection of the Jedi order.

 

They've filmed for 3 days for Episode 8. You can't use that as indisputable fact for anyone's role in the movie. No one here knows what Rian Johnson's doing and until MSW gets their hands on that call sheet too, everything is still speculative.

 

I'm not seeing where the evidence is that Rey will train the next wave of Jedi and not Luke. Did I miss something?

He did train Jedi before TFA, but apparently they were wiped out. One of those students could've been Kylo.

Gonna be great to revisit a character that I never thought I'd see again. What a gift. And judging by the leaked pic, he's gonna be kinda badass.

Yep...Your blowing up a major chunk of the significance of the Endor victory in ROTJ

The time for the Jedi to be snuffed out by evil before they could get on their feet again was there.....Vader and Palps thought they could play games with Luke....and it blew up spectacularly in their faces.

That mistake should have had long lasting ramifications.....

Does everybody in the Galaxy have to instantly become warm hearted pacifists who sing and dance in the street all day.....with Jedi posted at every street corner to lead in the love fest.....No of course not

Obviously there's going to be new challenges,obstacles, And villains the GFFA will have to face.....but it should get to face them with the Jedi protecting it again.

That's what the struggle in the OT was about for me....creating that window of opportunity to bring the Jedi back....Obi-Wan and Yoda lost nearly everything by the end of ROTS......They waited and suffered through the Dart Times so that they could give Luke the tools he needed to find a way to destroy Vader and Sids and bring the Jedi back......They all went through decades of hell to finally land that death blow at Endor...

....So sorry if I'm more than just a little upset if Luke and his Jedi attempts get steamrolled anyway offscreen...probably by yet another renegade skywalker....despite all that suffering they had to go through in episodes 3-6.

I certainly hope there are some details that are missing that somehow makes this not what I suspect this will be....but the rumors seem to indicate that Lukes been on a path all too similar to Obi-Wan and Yoda...

maybe for some of you that's just fine.....make it so Endor meant whatever it needs to mean so Disney can continue to add on to this particular Star Wars story forever(said in Sandlot Squints Style).

And maybe that's something I need to come to grips with as well...
