at this point I could careless about the last names of Finn and Rey If they could give just one Iota of information about Luke and Snoke.

I´m glad they´re keeping Luke a secret. It will add so much to the experience seeing him during the movie.

exactly either this movie has to end with father and daughter reunited or Luke is doing something significant in the movie. Everything else with Luke being ignored in the movie and an ending like unrelated Rey hands Luke the saber or unemotional meeting of uncle and niece would ruin the movie for me completely. [face_worried] Let's hope the worst case scenarios don't happen. [face_praying]

I watched it for an hour (an hour!). Turned it off. Will try it again someday. I've actually got the double DVD collection with Troll 1 and 2. I love the first film.

I'm beginning to become convinced the Skellig scene will serve as a second dramatic climax/ending.
It will have a 'oh crap' moment that will have the audience talking, wondering when VIII will be released, as they walk out the theater.

The moment when Rey learns she's Luke's daughter.:p That would certainly create a storm.

Disney/Lucasfilm can make money with it, so no that's a bad thing, they will not do it. [face_rofl]

Disagree on this - they could have dialogue, sure. But if it's been set up properly at that point, looks alone should be able to convey the emotion of the moment. I think if they have to sit down for an Old Ben/ Luke on Dagobah spot of exposition, things have gone a little wrong. I think with something like this, it's all in or all out. And if they have gone this way (and I do get why some hate the idea of it) I think it's a case of less is more. Rey's journey to this point, acting, the beauty of Skellig and the magic of Williams should be able to tell us everything we need for such a moment (if they have gone for it) to work - IMO. Show not tell should be the mantra. If set up right this could be a moment of pure visual storytelling. It does need pretty much perfect execution to pull it off though.

I think it will be simultaneous scenes, on Yavin IV Leia presents Poe and Finn with their medals. A swipe cut and you see Chewie and the droids stood at the foot of some stone steps cut into a steep hill, the camera pans up and we see Rey finishing the climb and entering the cave at the top. Inside in shadow a solitary figure sits, hood pulled over their head, Rey asks if he is Luke....hood is lowered...its Luke...end credits.

It’s a tricky one, for sure. A hell of a lot of things are going to have to fall into place for the rumoured ending to work. Obviously the acting of Hamill and Ridley for a start. If its dialogue free, then their faces and body language will have to do the talking. John Williams' music is probably going to be the biggest factor, though. I expect something slightly sombre, yet with undertones of a possibly hopeful future.

    Quoting from the Daisy thread...
I like this, but how is it accomplished with a short, dialogue-free scene with passive Luke being handed a lightsaber? It seems the ideas presented during the film would be more intersting than the reality found at the end.

I grew up watching the first one. It's a little cheap but worth watching. I have some love for it. But Troll 2 is one of the worst films ever conceived.

That's what they say. But I can't agree. In my opinion it's not so bad it's good at all.

I think the other characters will wonder about Luke in these terms - or at least that doubt will be there. So we're not exactly sure who Rey will find, and neither is she. I think the kind of tension that might be there is what was conveyed in that throne room concept - Rey stepping out of the light with Luke on the throne in darkness.

It doesn't sound like it will play out like that now, but in terms of mood, I think that might be the kind of moment of tension. Exactly how they convey what he has been up to, I'm not sure (as you say - this is all assuming the info is correct and it might not be). Maybe they will want dialogue, maybe there is more to it. I don't know. But maybe it is as simple as Luke smiling - a lot can be said without words (assuming they want to go that way at all - of course they might not). Whatever he has been doing, I think we'll get an understanding of why he has been away and not helping while the **** has gone down across the galaxy - whether Rey is Solo, Skywalker or Random - if Luke is missing, we need to have a basic understanding of why. How they convey that is tricky to say given I have no idea why Luke has disappeared but they will have to convey it IMO (flashbacks and Maz will help I think - and the other key exposition scenes will most likely be LST and Poe, Han on the Falcon, and Kylo torturing Rey).

They're in Rinzler's The Making of Return of the Jedi.

They both belong to a trimmed down farewell scene on board Ackbar's flagship, in the background would be a matte painting of the Falcon and a few fighters. The only part of the scene you actually see is Han and Lando's farewell and Lando's promise to not scratch the Falcon.

It's all nebulous, but I would love for the audience to have an idea, but not be quite sure, of what Luke has been up to. I want the idea to be confirmed when we (and Rey) finally see Luke in some disressed state, and we instantly realise he has been (insert something I am not quite sure of yet) to somehow hold back the increasing darkness, at great cost to his well being. In a look, she understands his sacrifice and he has renewed hope.

It's wordless, puts a nice coda on Rey finding her family, and tells us what kind of person Luke is.

I know that probably makes no sense. I am having trouble explaining it since I am not sure what would work. Some type of intense meditation? IDK

No, it does make sense - I feel exactly the same. It's hard to pin it down because we have no idea what his fate is. I do think we will get the basics of what you describe though.
