I'd certainly be open to an Obi-Wan comic series if someone besides Jason Aaron writes it, and would love seeing Ewan reprise the role. It's nice to see Obi-Wan get some space in current SW media so I hope that continues.

I bet I know someone who would make a really great writer for it ;)

Respectfully, I am not a fan of Mr. Miller's novel. I know he can write Obi-Wan (liked the short story in SWI that lead up to this novel), but if he continues with the Kenobi storyline I'd pass, given the fact that the other characters were not interesting to me and Obi-Wan was barely in it (one third of the novel.)

If Mr. Miller took the series into another direction that was Obi-Wan-centric, I'd give it a try.

Kenobi was great IMO and JJ Miller would be a great writer for a comic series after his work on the old republic

Just rec'd, read the Kenobi issue. I must say, I think I read it in 3 - 5 minutes, and that was taking the time to appreciate the art. Not pleased with the modern trend to forsake dialog and reduce panels in comics. I have enjoyed the new Marvel SW series for the most part, but this was unacceptable in its sparsity. $4 cover price for a a few minutes of reading is not good for anyone (I have a subscription so it's not quite as much, but still). If people can pick it up at a Barnes and Noble, read it and put it back on the rack in a blink of an eye, it cheapens the art form. I have the Indiana Jones comics/omnibus from the early 80s and while the art is much simpler, there are more panels, much more dialog (3- 4 times the amount) and each issue is actually engrossing.

That said, I echo statements of more Kenobi, in film or novel format please. Or a comic series/4-parter. Something with more meat on the bones.

I've come to accept the fact that gone are the days when comics cost 75 cents and took 20 minutes to read...........

I keep seeing the thread title and mixing it up to "The Last of His Beard". Does he shave in this?

I really liked this issue a lot, mostly because I'm a sucker for one-shots, and the art was just downright purty and for people complaining that it's such a slight story, that's what gives it it's power. It's Kenobi living in (obviously) the early years of his isolation and sort of settling into being a recluse but his inner drive for good keeps nagging at him, he's even trying to tell a random guy how to get moisture out of desert fruit to get the gross milk from. So he wants to be a Jedi but he can't, which is why it's so compelling. And I don't think he's been abandoned by Qui-Gon to train him, or that he's not using the Force, he's just using it in isolation. And Qui-Gon doesn't exactly respond every damn time, which we've seen in the movies even in moments of desperation. (Luke's ESB "Ben, please" and no response). So I dig that it's a quiet, small story but really dramatically powerful for the implications on the final page that Obi-Wan will figure out how to live in isolation, except still be a Jedi. A very small time, localized but still powerful Jedi. Can't wait for Jason Aaron to pen more Journal entries as bumpers in between arcs.

Has anyone else noticed that this issue has been moved from 5 BBY to 11 BBY on Wookieepedia?

I have because I submitted the change haha. I tweeted editor Jordan White and he said Luke looks 8ish to him which puts it at around 11 BBY. The original date was a complete mistake. I found the actual audio from the BookCon panel where that date was originally attributed but the author of the article cited for placing it at 5 BBY misheard the panel and it just spread to various sites from there.

That's why I put Proof of Placement "PoP" for every single title on my timeline and list my sources, take screenshots, and link to originals. Click on any of the PoP #s to see what I mean.

Art looks way better (IMO) than the art in the last Obi Wan flashback

The cover is weird-ish, but I like that kind of redoubtable look on the face of Guinness!Ben.

The dark-haired one in front is probably Biggs at least. Good chance the rest are those guys as well.

Are they purposely trying to steer away from original likenesses?

And Luke having only human friends? not cool
