ST Rey's Lightsaber

Hold up a second. Rey has been given a blue lightsaber. Anakin's was blue--Obiwan took it after defeating him, then gave it to Luke. Luke lost it on Bespin.

OBI-WAN'S WAS ALSO BLUE. It dropped to the deck on the first Death Star. WHAT DID VADER DO WITH IT?!

Why did Rey's saber NOT STILL HAVE LUKE'S HAND WRAPPED AROUND IT?

DOES REY HAVE LUKE'S/ANAKIN'S SABER, OR OBI-WAN'S?!?!?!?

Time for an in-depth comparison of the structural differences between the handle/hilt/pommel of "Rey's" saber and Obi-Wan's, IMHO.

 

Ok I have returned to my senses. But all I can see at this point is that the saber Rey is given in the previews is Luke's/Anakin's. Back to the theater to confirm (only seen it once--I know, I know, but I'm a stickler for 2D, and one showing at 10pm is a tough ticket for us older guys.)

I admit knowing practically nothing about the EU. Any stories/ theories out there how the saber got from Bespin to Maz's?

 

id love a staff saber but i also want her to have lukes... and i d love if they go EU on the colours of sabers.

 

i think his hand might have been rotten or decomposed by the time the sword was found. nevertheless i think they probably fell apart beore they hit the ground.

 

How about Rey turns Anakin's lightsaber into a double bladed one to better suit her fighting style?

I think she oughht to stick with Luke's during the next film, but after that she ought to build her own, mirroring the OT.

 

Keeping Luke´s saber and her staff would be intelligent, the saber has next to no weight and is easy to hide, the staff comes handy in situations where you don´t want to reveal yourself as a force user.

Another possibility would be to keep the saber and build a new one too and double-wield them, that would be cool but also practical enough to fit the character and to look realistic.

A combined weapon out off staff and saber has to be done carefully, good chance of it looking weird in my opinion.

 

It would be nice to see her with a yellow or gold saber.

 

Obi-wan's saber looks nothing like the Skywalker blue saber. Not even close. The Obi-Wan saber looks like Luke's green ROTJ saber. In fact I think they used the same prop for both.

 

Disney are selling it as Rey's sabre now, so I guess she's at least going to use it for one movie at least.

 

Kylo is all about resisting the light, right? So I think Rey should let the light into Kylo with a saber blade the color of light: pure white.

 

If I was writing these then in Episode VIII she would use the blue "Skywalker" saber and then construct her own for Episode IX just like Luke in the OT. In IX, however, she uses her new lightsaber fairly early to establish its existence. I'm thinking a single green blade (I think that green suits her). And then in the final battle she ignites a second blade from the other end Darth Maul style. How awesome would that be?

 

The sword trainer/coordinator for the ST had a cameo as the Jedi Academy sword trainer. His was yellow, but the scene was cut IIRC.

 

I d love yellow too. Incandescent 20W light bulb yellow not orage yellow

 

The only reason i want Rey to build a saber is that i want luke to dual wield in his fight if there is going to be one. Maybe Rey loses a hand and kylo or whoever moves in for the kill and the blue saber starts moving and is sucked towards luke who then ignites both of his sabers and goes Yoda 2.0 on them. Likely? No. But it would mirror yoda in Episode 2 and show of lukes skills.

 

Double-bladed blue, one Crystal from Luke's/Anakin's one from Obi-Wan' s. Would work really well if she is found to be related to both.

 

I think he was shown actually, only as a stupid hologramm that can't show anything beside blue and white. Go figure.

 

Why are we assuming she won't just use the one she already has?

 

At first, I was all aboard the dual-saber staff hype train. But now, I think I feel like the "Anakin's LS is 'Excalibur'" metaphor is more meaningful, where as the dual blade would be more fan-service. That is IF she is the daughter of Luke. If she's not, and it turns out that the LS was "calling out to her" as more of a means to get back to its master (kind like the Ring of Power from a different fantasy franchise), then I could see her building her own LS as a right of passage.

OR

Maybe she uses Luke's LS, and modify's the hilt so that it can be attached to the end of her staff. I can see a climactic moment where she attaches it like a bayonet, then throws her staff like a javelin.

 

That would look really cool! Ren's lightsaber was pretty awesome, but if they put Rey's staff with her lightsaber, it would be great. She seemed to rely on that staff for most of her life on Jakku, so I think they'll do something like that.

 

sounds perfect (she doesnt necessarily have to use the none excaliber one she builds often, but it is a right of passage in GFFA so far)

 

I think personally if she's going to modify her staff and do a lightsaber modification from her staff she should make a lightsaber Pike not a double bladed saber. in which would increase her defensive capabilities, and alot for more control when she goes in to strike. Of course I can easily see her going for a regular single bladed lightsaber she might have a preference for it already due to the last duel in the forest awakens. Another tricky thing.... is what color would her blade be ? As much as I would love to see orange which would be my personal preference I'm pretty sure she's going to have a green bladed saber regardless of what kind of lightsaber she chooses. Green blades usually signify wisdom that would fit in with the events of episode 7 possibly 8 quite well Imo just my personal preference right there.

 

She was very awkward with the single-blade in the forest though. She was using it more like a staff anyway.

 

Or spear. You don't thrust quite as much with a staff in my experience
