Nope. He sold Star Wars for four billion bucks. If he wanted to make new movies he shouldn't have done that.

George Lucas has solidified a front row seat in history, but he is passing the torch on. To my knowledge he serves as a creative consultant moving forward. He can explain his way through his creation, relationships between characters, provide information, but mostly just sit back and enjoy the show. It's up to the new faces moving forward. Disney has vast, vast resources to carry it on. George Lucas, if I had to guess, is very very proud of how far it's come and how many people the franchise has touched and what a difference it's made - he is passing the torch with much confidence and affection to the world.

Definitely, DeanoMeisteR. George created my favorite movie series of all-time. He's a visionary, with an incredible imagination, and created a fantastic universe that many of us know and love.

I think he did like Force Awakens more than he admits, but he was bothered by the prequel criticisms, and the new movie isn't exactly how he would have done it.

Still love the guy, but some of his comments recently were a bit off (to say the least) and I'm not watching anymore of his interviews. Hopefully he can let it go, and move on.

Yeah kind of reminds me (if anyone follows football) when Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers didn't work out with each other and went their separate ways. It was bitter for the next 3-4 years but look at them now. Everyone made peace, jersey recently retired, the mans looking at Hall of Fame induction soon. Things work out in the end. Both he and the team can look back on a great journey and how many fans lives have been touched. As you say, hopefully he can let it go and ultimately focus on all the blessings in life. I think it will end well after a little time for certain emotions to clear up and everyone see the reality of the situation.

Yeah Brett was awesome, but he left it in good hands with Aaron Rodgers. They didn't do so well today, but at least they're in the post season and will be playing a beatable team in the Washington Redskins, next weekend.

Unlike my sorry Cowboys who will be playing golf and have a much deserved top five draft pick lol

    Not Episode IX, that's impossible.

But for an Anthology film? Why not.

If Lucas wanted these new films his way, he shouldn't have sold to Disney. It's really as simple as that. He has no right to complain about the fact that Disney went in another direction.

He won't return. In the interview where he also called disney 'white slaves' (don't remember the name of the interview), he stated that he passed it on because he has lots of other things in his life he'd like to do. He said he was to old to make star wars, as it would take a lot of time and he won't have any time left for doing those other things.

I would have wanted Lucas back for the whole of ST. Not sure if there's much point now. But to me, TFA was a lazy remake instead of having its own sequelish feel, so I'm interested in how Lucas' version would have turned out.

You can't make up how fickle people are, for years they complained about George Lucas' vision of Star Wars in the PT, now they want him back! [face_laugh]

Agreed. I thought some of his comments were off as well. It stunk of sour grapes. I love the guy because Star Wars is my favorite movie series, but I realized he lost his edge when he said Star Wars wasn't space opera it was soap opera. I look back and say, oh yea... that's what the prequels were like; soap operas. It made so much sense and why he lost so many people. The crew making the movies now understand this is myth making. It's not all cool starships and space battles, though it was when I was a kid (probably one reason why ROTJ is my favorite of the series). But for me now, it's the good vs evil, dark vs light, your choices have consequences that kept me a big fan of the series.

Just too late. In Rian Johnson we trust. TFA was less than stellar, and this ST needs more lore.

You know, I am actually starting to feel sorry for Mr. Lucas. Not because his 'vision' was destroyed or he sold his works ... it is because no one will leave him alone! He was right, this like a divorce, he knew it when he sold LFL to the Mouse. He knew it would be bitter at times and he knew it wouldn't work out like he would have done it. He knew it already. What he needs is for everyone to get off their freaking high horse and let him deal with this on his own terms ... kind of like he asked of all of us, fans, press, Hollywood, after he made the sale.

    Get a life people.

It's been said before and will be said again; George sold the company to Disney. He made that decision, no one else. He's also since made a good point of how it's probably better that he doesn't get too involved in the new films now, since he'd likely "muck it up." George is a very determined person in regards to his personal vision- but it's also a vision that he seems to think would likely be at odds with the various other powers that are now involved with the franchise and have equal or greater say-so than he does.

That being said, I am concerned about Colin Trevorrow directing Episode IX. He himself isn't an atrocious director and the comments that he has made regarding the Star Wars franchise are pretty encouraging, but I think his current 'style' (or lack thereof) is ill-suited for the franchise. At the very least, he needs to get a better D.P. than the one he worked with on Jurassic World and subsequently shot The Book of Eli with.

However we're getting Rian Johnson for Episode VIII first- and that is a wonderful thing indeed.
