ST The Romantic Future of Kylo Ren and Rey

I think the tip of the saber caught hit face because it looks like she slashed up and also caught his torso. It looks like his eye was okay. So curious how much of his face we will see. He's such a good actor and so expressive.

For those who didn't see undertones in the interrogation why do you think it played out that way?

 

Dammit. He looks so good here! I never heard of Adam Driver before Star Wars, and prior to watching, I looked him up on Google and I thought, "Meh, typical mustachioed villain look."

Then THIS FACE popped up in the movies! I went 'who the **** is that?! That's not Adam Driver, oh waaaait it iiiis!!!" <3

...what were we talking about?

 

I was also asking myself that about the scar: i think he was hit from torso to face, but the eyes are intact...I pretty much think so at least, that's what you see in the movie.
I definitely want to see more of his face!!! I hope he doesn't wear that helmet ALL the time...and Adam driver hated it, so maybe they just say screw the helmet, although Adam was saying that the costume was like a metaphor of the character...

As for the interrogation scene, it was done on purpose. I mean, many people saw it right away. At first I have to admit I didn't but then of course I did...
meanly the way he looks at her when he's sooo close to her...and the fact they really paid attention to Kylo ren's "dark handsome prince" look was OF course made on purpose. I mean these guys know what they're doing! And the actors too...that look Rey gives him when the takes the mask on was mine too!!! (like WTH, he's so freaking handsome...ups, he's the villain...right...)

SOOO the question in real is : WHY was it done to convey that freaking sexual/seductive/ tone?

 

I never found Adam Driver attractive but he looked handsome in this. His hair was amazing lol

She didn't expect to see a young handsome man under that mask!

 

They wanted us to go crazy and pair him off with Rey and start shipping war nonesense in forums and drag us all back in for VIII, where they will eventually leave us hanging. :I

I think his handsome face can be a metaphor for his character too... As his costume is.
That face is Ben Solo's face...the last thing Han Solo gazes upon before he falls..the face of his son, the newest and only Skywalker (still dont think Rey is one) prodigy, the rightful prince of Alderaan, and the most talented force user known.

It's such an irony how this boy blessed with so much, grew up with love and care, becomes this monster...

The scar Rey gives him is what marks this face as no longer Ben Solo (unless redeemed) but it will forever be the mark of Kylo Ren....
I actually believe that his boy, underneath that suit, is riddled in scars from training with Snoke, battles, and other experiences.. Symbolic how broken, scarred, and torn he is... Yet his face stayed pure... Because only until he killed his Dad did he totally ruin who Ben Solo is....

I think they will still try to make him look attractive with the scar. The cut went perfectly across his face, so he won't be deformed from it. Plus, don't people say "chicks dig scars"? Maybe they did it on purpose to make him more rugged, haha!

I really hope they don't ruin that face of his. The l'Oreal hair was great. Absolutely done on purpose again...like JJ just wanted us to all fall for this guy!!
I keep coming back to that Disney cover for the novelization of TFA, and I'm like...if THAT the image that sums up ALL the movie - i mean, when he offers her to be his teacher! **** how sexually oriented can you get? On top of it she was helpless - We're good for getting more Kylo/rey in the next ones....!!!

 

She was tied, but she wasn't helpless. She overpowered him psychologically and he helplessly fell for her!

By the way, I think this is the best chemistry in Star Wars movies. Leia and Han were fun but pretty straightforward, and Padme and Anakin were so wooden, I'm surprised Luke and Leia weren't born Pinocchios.

 

I can deal with a scared face as long as his eyes are intact. Im slightly scared cuz scarring him doesn't bode well for the future of his character I want Hux to be the main and ruthless villain and not my poor confused Kylo

 

Well, his scars are symbolic. Even if he is redeemed or has been a double agent all along, you can't be toying with the dark side without it leaving its mark.

Ridley's British accent could be a clue/hint. At the very least, it separates her a bit in my view from the Solo family. We're not going to hear a lot about Midichlorians going forward, and hopefully it'll be the same for the supposed monasticism of the Jedi.
Which is great, because Rey not being related to Ben makes their relationship in the next couple movies that much MORE interesting!

 

If you think that's icky, find a copy of Splinter of the Mind's Eye by Alan Dean Foster (1978). Some of Luke's thoughts about Leia - not platonic at all.

 

That would be ok, but id rather they be brother and sister. Rey & Finn is the perfect romantic relationship.In the OT Lea & Han seemed to soap opera like at times. Anakin and padme had the same soap opera feel in the PT. Finn & rey will be a more spontaneous and "guns blazing" type of couple

 

My reaction too! Never heard of the actor, but totally loved the character. All of the characterizations in TFA are very good, and an antihero/antagonist like Ben/Kylo makes it that much better.

Snap! I saw pictures of AD beforehand at the red carpet premiere and thought he looked quite unremarkable, so when the helmet came off I literally had a spitting-out-all-my-popcorn moment, I could barely believe it was the same person! In fact i'm still looking between pics of KR and AD and trying to figure what they did to make him look so different. Apart from the hair, makeup and lighting I think the high turteneck top somehow changes the shape of his face.

 

We know what you mean. FinnRey is the romcom action couple. I love their chemistry! It's rare to find a couple of actors who exude chemistry that is as much romantic as friendly.

Unfortunately, our tastes in this thread can't be any more different from romcom action, we are a knitting circle of people who dwell too much on the darker aspects of literary romance. We dream of Byronic heroes rather than prince charmings, and we celebrate romantic tragedy as much as the next wedding. So you'll have to forgive us if we stick to our dark twisted Reylo romantic theories
