ST The Romantic Future of Kylo Ren and Rey

Another 80's kid here, although I did really like HP, but THG never really did anything for me- I saw Battle Royale first and that is better. The Kylo=Snape meme is all over the internet and I approve, lol.

The Kylo as a double agent theory is interesting, but I think some of the evidence pointing to it is really just pointing to his internal struggle and eventual redemption rather than him on a secret mission. However, until we find out what Luke has been up to I can't really discount it entirely yet.

 

Hux says he will get the droid and Kylo says "I leave that to you", and then when Kylo hears about the girl he is suddenly personally involved. One article talks about what a mistake it was Kylo didn't get the droid and it was because he was overconfident in his abilities to get the info otherwise.

 

I thought there was going to be more then one female being cast.

Gina Rodrigez's possible character, a female sith, and someone else maybe?

One things for sure, if we are getting a female Sith, it might be playing on the Lumiya and Jacen aspect of Jacen's fall. And, if Snoke needs a Sith to train him, this at least supports the idea that Snoke is one of the Force Sensitive Advisors to Palpatine in the OT. Having a female sith to train Ben could mean that in the event if he goes back to the light we have a female baddie to take his place as a pure villain for people to hate.

I'm hoping for the first one, with the crossing of fingers that she's got red hair and was a former worker for the Empire. XD

 

Hearing everyone talk about their age makes me realize that I may be one of the youngest people here! Mid-late 90's!

I've never been able to theorize about Star Wars films before or truly experience new movie hype with other fans because I was quite young when the prequels came out. Even ROTS...I was a kid and I adored the films, but I didn't exactly try to look for small details to prove theories, learn more about a character, etc. To be fair, though, you couldn't really do a whole lot of that with the prequels anyways.

It's just really exciting to finally be able to really talk about Star Wars movies like this. I've never had this outlet before.

 

Interestingly some of the actors from TFA follow Jessica Chastain. I wondered if she had been/is being considered?

I read they were looking for someone who could play from 20-35. I am not sure if it is for the above.

 

Autobot fan as well, Prowl being my second fave to bumblebee. Oddly enough there are a lot of weird similarities between star wars and Transformers. Something TF related that could connect to Ben Solo going to the good guy side: Knock out. Knock out was the doctor for the Decpeticons in the TF: Prime series, towards the end of the series after the death of his friend/partner, he began to shift his views on the Decepticons, eventually outright changing sides and becoming a member of the Autobots at the very end of the series. Kylo turning back to Ben could play out more like that as well.

 

Me very late 90's too . And I totally understand where you're coming from. You don't know how bad I wanted to ramble about useless info from the SW universe. And even for my second favorite topic to discuss, the Walking Dead. I'm glad there are actually active forums for these types of discussions, otherwise my gf would've killed me by now.

 

That's pretty weird that I didn't notice that before. But Star Wars VII's plot is already based around the skeletal plot bones of ANH, which had a cookie-cutter type plot to begin with.

 

Welcome to the wide and wolly world of fandom. Actually I'm glad you have this ReyKenobi, a lot of us didn't really get this when there was no net, and honestly I think this is really the first real chance people have to interact and speculate on the films themselves. PT it was pretty much laid out what was going to happen, it was just the how it was going to go down. This is really the first series in a long while where we don't know what will happen, and it's really fascinating.

 

Yep, when Leia found out their Galaxy was being sold to Disney she sent Ben to study at Hogwarts... and there he killed Dumbledore.

 

I'm just wondering whether Kylo Ren will be killed off in Episode 8, after he started showing signs of turning back to the Light... And don't want such a thing to occur, so Snoke personally gets rid of him - or Ren becomes a TRAITOR and switches sides, a la Finn... And in his place is the new villain played by Benicio Del Toro!

Right! And not only that, he's also the Half-Blooded Prince (skywalker/the force - Solo- Muggle!) and both dress up all in black, both have black long hair (Kylo's shinny thanks to L'Oreal though! xD) and they both have an internal struggle. I mean if we don't have hard-harry potter fans working on this script, I'm the Queen of England!!!!

I've been a part of various fandoms for a long time now (Harry Potter has always been a big one, of course!!), but..I never could really express my Star Wars love very much because while ofc it's mega popular, there hasn't been such huge hype about it in a very long time. People wouldn't really care if I wanted to talk about how I felt about each film or how Obi Wan was basically my first love/sexual awakening as a kid

 

That would be crazy! I mean, I think the whole arc is around Ben/Kylo...this is why I am very intrigued by the new villiain thing!

Yes, I like the idea that he's good but working hard at being bad. But for what?

Still, I think this theory might have some merit. I don't think he'd be on a secret mission sent by Luke, I think it would be his own doing. Also, another possibility is that he's not a double agent of light, but of something else.

One hint for that is that he knows Snoke is only using him for his power. If he knows that, why does he stick with Snoke? Maybe he wants to defeat Snoke, and that could be for many different reasons, not necessarily to help the resistance or the good guys.

 

Alec is great, don't get me wrong.
But, yeah...Ewan just really did it for me. I've always adored him and have always adored Obi Wan. He's my personal favorite Star Wars character. I rewatched all of the films with my mother last month and each time Obi Wan/Ewan did or said anything, we'd just talk about how perfect he is.

I'll never understand why Padme didn't fall for him instead of Ani, but ah well

 

Yeah! Because on top of it, in the script, it says that he KNOWS that Snoke is using him...I mean, so he wants to overpower him or something?
THIS precise element is very very weird. He knows this, but he still does it. Maybe he's more EMO trash than I thought!! Borderline syndrom, *red lights flashing* nooo goood...LOL

Well, there's a theory going around that he's the real father of Luke and Leia.

Ani was not much around, and Ben would hide in a closet. Maybe that's why Luke and Leia weren't born wooden Pinocchios. Ben wasn't a piece of wood.
There's an even better theory that Ben was only Luke's dad, and Leia was Anakin's kid.

 

Something a bit relevant to Rey here and her possible connection to Revan as a possible choice if she's not a Skywalker.

(Just want to note something here, I'm probably in the minority of this being okay with the idea of Ben and Rey even if they are cousins, again I read a number of series that have that as part of the romance twist so it's not a big deal to me, however I know it is to others, and while I would love to have Ben and Rey together, if it means that she can't be a Skywalker, then I'm willing to give up on Reylo in the romantic sense, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't want them to have a deep connection as family and friends. One can have that too, which I think is really important for both of them.)

Okay that being said, here's the thing, I was looking at the picture a few pages ago of the Rey and Ben image and I kept saying where did I see that before, and then it sort of hit me. Bastila looks a lot like Rey. I mean seriously:

Then there's the fact that Rey seems to wear an outfit like her and Rey may eventually have the double bladed light saber

The striking similarities, coupled with the idea that we do have confirmation via canonical sources in the books (VD mentions that the design is from the great scourge, connects to Malachor, connecting to the Sith and Darth Revan of the past), and on top of that Revan and Bastila did have children a son Varen, who later had children of his own who became jedi, one of whom you can romance in the KotOR mmo game from Bioware. If they actually do pull the Shan family back into the fold, using Rey would be a great way to do it as it would link the first prodigal Jedi Revan with the last prodigal Jedi Anakin through Ben.

On top of this, you do kind of have Revan by his cannon appearance does have a very Ben like look to him in his design. Mind you, you can make Revan anyway you want in game, it's just that this design is the most cannon version of him.
