So there is this subreddit called Who Would Win https://www.reddit.com/r/whowouldwin/ and I'm trying to create a Boba Fett vs someone thread but knowing the Internet most people will say "he lost to Han Solo blind." So I need to create a respect thread full of things he's accomplished and capable of. I have most of it except anything in Dark Disciple, because I don't own the book :/ So if anyone is able to could they provide something significant Boba did or something that describes his or his abilities? (Quotes would be nice) Also sorry if this thread doesn't belong here.
"Took on Dooku (with other bounty hunters) and survived" springs to mind. Offscreen in the book, but there's an animation out there from the Unfinished TV Episode of it - the TV Tropes pages for Dark Disciple should have the link on them.
Yeah he puts up a decent fight against Dooku, with the help of a bunch of bounty hunters. He, uh, also loses to a blind, untrained Luke in the Marvel Star Wars comic... There's not really much else in the NEU as far as his accomplishments go...
The new novelization of ROTJ plays up his awesomeness - suggesting that in a straight fight Han would have no chance of winning and that Boba has beaten Jedi before - but that Han's blind luck in this case has trumped Boba's great skill. Also mentions that Boba has just enough time to realise how silly he looks rocketing out of control, before he hits the sail barge.
Oh booo it's offscreen? In a book? Wtf that's the one reason I wanted Dark Disciple besides of Quinlan Vos. Any chance you could provide a quote or two? Or if there is a copy online somewhere in like a PDF?
Hmmm. I'm gonna guess it's something that has to do with dialogue or the Ventress/Vos relationship. I heard from a few friends that the author didn't handle it very well... And if it's true Boba Fett and the rest of the hunters take on Dooku offscreen, than its a no buy for me.
Back on the other skiff, Boba Fett* climbs to his feet and fixes his glare on Luke, only a few yards away on the other skiff. *He's furious at Jabba and his gunners for shooting at the craft while he's on it but that's a score he plans to settle later. He raises his armored glove yet again and aims at Luke, who is too busy avoiding blaster fire to sense it this time. Chewie sees the danger, but he is too hurt to stop Boba. "GRRWWWWWWH!" he howls at Han. "Boba Fett? Boba Fett? Where? "WWWGRRH!" Han, brandishing a deadly electro-spear dropped by one of the guards, steps forward, swinging it wildly. Many skilled fighters, even Jedi, have tried to fight Boba Fett before. And they've all failed. Han Solo on his best day wouldn't stand a chance. Fett is too good. Too careful. Too cunning. He could never be beaten by skill. But dumb luck? That's where Solo has always excelled. The electro-spear hits Boba Fett in the back, sending a wallop of electricity into his jet pack. It ignites instantly. Boba rockets through the air. He grabs uselessly at the short-circuited controls of the rocket. He has just enough time to think of how silly he must look before he slams into the side of the sail barge and then falls, flailing, past the skiffs, past Lando, past the tentacles and the teeth ... and into the belly of the Sarlacc. "WURGHRRR!" cheers Chewie.
I still take us seeing Ventress punk him easily in canon over a vague reference of going utterly undefeated in canon.
That wasn't really a fight though - that was him getting caught by surprise before he could "go hostile" on her. Might also be a reference to post-ROTS hunts for fugitive Jedi.
This is interesting. I had heard this leaked somewhere, but hadn't seen it, partly because I wanted to read Dark Disciple first. So I finally read DD and found this video (it's on youtube... not sure if it's legal to post...?) and the impression I got from how the scene played out in the book vs the show's animation is completely different. In the book, Asajj runs in and Boba et al. have already captured Dooku. We don't see how, he's just tied up. But then Quinlan goes bonkers and Dooku easily escapes... in fact, since we find out later much of this was a set-up, I got the impression Dooku let himself be captured to screw with Vos's mind, like a test. He was in control the whole time. But from the video, those bounty hunters are really putting him up to a good fight. We don't see the moment he's captured, but maybe he actually did lose fairly? Would have loved to see how the whole thing played out on screen.
To me, Dooku does kind of look like he's owning the bounty hunters. He uses his lightning on them and spins them around.
Perhaps somewhere in between... he was always intending to throw the fight but put up enough of a fight that they wouldn't suspect it, a bunch of cynical veteran bounty hunters (and the Son Of Fett) would get veeery suspicious if Dooku went down too easy.
If it's as ambiguous as that then I'm not sure it would be include it, the sources need to be pretty much solid and with no room to interpret.
True but we only saw a very crude version, possibly when refined it would be more obvious Dooku was just 'acting' defeated.
Possibly after Order 66, hunting down random Kanan-types. Or, during the Clone Wars, he may have been hired to capture Jedi.
