He would want to rule I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up killing Snoke, thinking he take Snoke's role.

You know I get the appeal of Kylo turning and going renegade. I can't see him as a good guy ever, he doesn't deserve it and it would make all the good guys look idiotic, but the idea of an ex-dark sider running around trying to do good but mostly hiding sounds interesting. It's just the idea of that going romantic with Rey specifically that loses me. There is too much twisted crap between these two. Rey doesn't need to ever be depicted getting romantic with the guy that strapped her to a table against her will, mind raped her (that's just how I see that scene), murdered her father figure in front of her, threw her against a tree, and almost killed her only friend.

I think a huge fallacy anti-reylo people are making is taking everything we say seriously. Sometimes people like to talk about they would like to see, not necessarily what will play out. There's a mish-mash of things being talked about. There's been a lot of in-depth discussion on the characters, and also very random stuff. So what if people post hot Adam Driver pics or funny tumblr pics now and then? That should not take away from the actual conversations we are having. The point isn't to agree, but to be like ok I get why you think this, without labeling us as something weird or whatever.

That is how JJ meant the scene.

I personally do *not* want her to be a Skywalker. I went into the movie not wanting any connections to the old characters. When the Kylo secret was revealed, I was flipping out. I thought it was going to get lame quick. They salvaged it, but if Rey is a Skywalker too, well there are not enough ways to convey my dismay.

Why do I feel this way?
    1. I think the force pervades in people despite heritage. Are we forgetting that most jedi are not genetically force people? People are saying the only reason she is so badass is because she is a Skywalker. That is a big way of reducing her character. Why can't she be a great powerful person without Luke being her father?
    2. Also, making her a Skywalker would add way too much ridiculous plotlines of how she ended up in Jakku. Luke didn't know he had a kid, is wife hid her, Leia gave her up after the massacre blah blah. I said this on the reylo thread, this is the exact same stuff they have on daytime soaps. This is screaming Days of Our Lives. Trust me, I've seen most soaps and you do not want that crap on Star Wars.

That being said, even if she is Skywalker, I'd trust that the writers will make it good.

Also, what do you make of this quote by JJ?

Being strong with the force didn’t mean something scientific, it meant something spiritual. It meant someone who could believe, someone who could reach down to the depths of your feelings and follow this primal energy that was flowing through all of us. I mean, that’s what was said in that first film!...We would like to believe that when **** gets serious, that you could harness that Force I was told surrounds not just some of us but every living thing. And so, I really feel like the assumption that any character needs to have inherited a certain number of midi-chlorians or needs to be part of a bloodline, it’s not that I don’t believe that as part of the canon...but I also say that the Force has always seemed to me to be more inclusive and stronger than that.

I get that, and I also can understand Reylo to a certain point of a one sided thing. But at a certain point sometimes the line between an in-depth discussion and random stuff seems gets blurred imo.

I interpret that JJ quote as meaning we won't see blood tests or midichlorian references in this trilogy. I also think that we will have more new Jedi than just Rey. They have a Jedi Order to rebuild here. I do not believe Disney is giving us Rule of Two: Jedi Style.

That said, Rey is Rey Skywalker. Okay, I don't know for sure, but I expect it. I say that because even if they don't call her Rey Skywalker, that's exactly what she is. They wrote a character that is in every aspect of her characterization a Skywalker. Every single trait she has can be traced back to Anakin or Luke. If she wasn't a Skywalker, they should have written a character that didn't look, feel or sound exactly like a Skywalker.

Unfortunately for you Star Wars is the story of the Skywalker family and this generation is about Rey and Finn they are the leads of this trilogy. Rey is hinted to and set up to be the child of Luke and a woman (there is an argument that that her mother is Obi-wan's Daughter). JJ and Pablo have all drop the hints Han and Leia know that it's there Niece. Klyo knows it's his cousin and my have killed her Mother, to start his path he is on right now.

Well I love the Skywalkers...so not unfortunately actually. I just think making Rey is overdoing it. I don't recall either of them hinting that at all. If you have a quote, that'd be helpful.

Also, know one knows who she really is, no mater how certain you are. What if they're are just tricking you? What if this is exactly what they want you to think, only to throw a curveball later?

It's just annoying how certain people are about this. If it's not spelled out in the movie, then it's not official! I will not believe it till it comes out of Luke's mouth. If he does, ok, I'll accept it then. I have to at that point. But before that, it's all up in the air.

Rey has the whole universe on her shoulders now. She'll be growing a lot, I think the Kylo thing will only be one plot area for her. She'll be learning to become a jedi of her own right, she'll be with Luke, and she'll be fighting the other bad guys, shel'll learn about her origins. The journey for her is who am I? Personality has so many various facets. Her interactions with Kylo will show one side of herself, but then there is so much more to be unraveled about her.

You're right, only 2 movies so I don't imagine a huge epic thing happening between them. I imagine the plot to pretty simple but deep. I think the most he can get out of her a smile from the distance at the end of the movie (after he's good again). I think the end will be pretty ambiguous about who she ends up with. Actually when I really think about, realistically...she's probably just going to go solo. (pun intended)

Yeah I'm going to recap the past 180+ pages. But that is the crust of the problem we saw to different movies. We saw what JJ put there for us to see, it seems you guys are trying to force it into a different direction, and I going to end my involvement in this debate with this. All you Reylos who want this redemption story, no thanks. Guy is on a more entertaining path the role of a villain. You guys like calling him Ben and Soften him, that isn't what he is meant to be. This is the guy you aren't suppose to like this is Walter White owning the fact that he is a Evil sack of... poo (yeah lets go with poo). Can we stop with the cliché of a good Women saving a Son of a (word for a female dog) and enjoy the fact that we will see his decent to darkness done RIGHT after the poo show that was episode I II III and enjoy that In Rey and Finn we are going to see a Love Story in the world done right, after the poo show that was I II III. as others have said they are each others weakness that can easily be exploited. They set up a Fun trilogy and Daisy and John are fantastic there chemistry is something that you don't always get in movie. A one of the true highlights of the film (not to take away for the other actors). I get what you guys want to see, but it's not there in the movie. So please stop trying to make Star Wars in to twilight.

I think the movie's job was to be very clear that Rey was good and Kylo was a villain. Blatantly clear. To show obvious hints of anything would blur those two big points. If they showed Kylo getting mushy with her, it would completely take away from his dark personality.

That being said, the script gives a few more insights. The book has more stuff in it too, but I don't know how much of it goes with the movie. The author was definitely directed on some things (not by JJ though), had liberty with others.
I think a major disagreement is that anti-reylo people go by the obvious signs present and reylo people are focusing on subtle things that may foreshadow something in the future. It's either you see it or you don't. Maybe we're seeing things, maybe you're falling for the trick, who knows. We'll see in 2 years lol. But no one should act like they know what's gonna happen. That's just annoying.

Lol no one wants a Twilight version of Star Wars...I hate twilight....

You can believe what you want, but you don't need to act like you know everythng that is going to happen and degrade people who see differently. It's just not nice. I find it ironic since here we are talking about good and evil, and all that, and here you are just being dismissive. But what can I do. I just hope some people were enlightened to what my viewpoint is.

I'm being dismissive because in case you haven't notice by me not going to reylo thread and form me trying to be nice about this “debate” I think the Reylo and the examples used to justify it are BS. The moment he tried to mind rape her was the moment, it should have been clear. Reylo makes no sense whatsoever.

The problem is that what Reylo shippers claim to see really isn't there. It's like when Stormpilot shippers claim Poe's lip bite was supposed to foreshadow some sort of romance--even when the actors and story team have made it clear that it wasn't. You're procuring nonexistent subtext and claiming it as evidence. If they were really intending to go the Reylo direction, I seriously doubt JJ would have referred to the interrogation scene as a 'mind rape.' There were sexual undertones, no doubt. But they weren't the good kind. They were supposed to invoke a rape-y vibe and are being completely misinterpreted by the fandom.

Ship whatever you want, but don't confuse your own projections with the facts and intentions of the film.

Well, being told that we aren't deep enough to see the subtle hints of looming romance between these characters is along those lines.

I'm not oblivious to subtlety. I just don't interpret these hints the way you do.

no because kylo ren already had his chance to be redeem but he chose to kill his dad instead and i think the next two movies will focus on him going further to the dark side and becoming the villian the he is suppose to be and finn and rey will continue to go on their journey together

    It comes down to interpretation.
I don't act like I know the answers. I could be totally off, and I'll accept that. It's just upsetting that the general tone is about painting reylo people as strictly psychotic. But whatever, doesn't matter really, just wanted to get a feel for the thread. I'll take my leave.

KK said these new Star Wars Trilogy movies will always have a "Skywalker" in it And follow that family.

This alone should tell you there is going to be new Skywalkers in the future, and that Luke has a child/children.

So...um yeah im still going to stick to Rey being a Skywalker

Edit: and to bring this back to topic we see Leia has a child with Han who inherits his father name "Solo". So the only way for Rey children to inhertie her name is if she falls in love/marries someone without a last name.....And we already have a candidate in Finn.

I don't think any of us act like FinnRey is a sure thing, it's quite possible that as you said earlier, she ends up with nobody, and goes on her own path. Idk if that lines up with her characterization so far, as it's clear she values companionship and belonging, but maybe the point is that she eventually overcomes the fear of being alone. Entirely possible. I'm also not discounting Reylo as a possibility, BUT they have to tell that story really well and the motivation for Kylo to change and Rey to forgive him has to be logical and fit within the larger story. And no matter what you'd have resolve her relationship with Finn. Whether you call them just friends or not, there's a bond there that was built through TFA, that's a very important element that JJ highlighted many many times in the story. So that part has to be handled with care as well. Not to mention that by turning Kylo good, you're taking away a compelling antagonist and adding another protagonist that needs to coexist with the 3 mains, while still giving them time to have their own arcs. All of this would be a huge burden on the writing team, and it's quite possible that it would become completely incoherent to the average moviegoer, who may just want to see a more straightforward good vs evil narrative.

I think a major issue is that there is way too much in Kylo and Rey's interactions that is left up to interpretation. Like you said, some people saw things that others didn't, but why not make it clearer, if Kylo's redemption is the endgame? Why have him torture Poe and Rey personally? Why have him brutally cut down an old man? Why have him murder the most beloved character of the OT, who is also his father? Yeah it might make his redemption, in a sense more satisfying in the end, but you also have to work that much harder as a scriptwriter to make his change of mindset believable. As it is, very few of us think he's going to see the error of his ways anytime soon, if ever. Especially when ep8 is probably going to begin with him being driven further into the dark side by Snoke.
