anakinfansince1983 ... thank you for your reply. It is okay. I was just expressing an opinion as I for one (and I am sure this would apply to a lot of people) would find it difficult re-posting all the material into another thread.

 

Well..... I hate seeing the arguments here... Sigh.... At least it isn't as bad as Rey Parentage thread though. I was accused of calling people names and was told I should stop being above everyone. I didn't call anyone names, rather I gave substantial evidence and insight as to why Rey isn't Hans daughter and they snapped at me.

I think I may have figured it out. You are saying Rey/Kylo is going to reverse the relationship of Obi/Ani?

 

That's what I assumed her posts meant.

 

Not reverse Obikin but parallel, Reylo is the reverse of Aniken and Padme ( Both at the same time )

If you go to the beginning of TFA, the Star Cruiser is seen in shadow this is the reverse of all the other Star Cruiser openings.

 

Putting my mod hat on. I will confer with other New Films Mods *if* this thread can be renamed a fanclub and moved to Community. In fact, if this is even possible, we'll probably need those mods agreement. I don't think this can be done, but I'm new.

In the meantime, I've addressed several (one) issue in a few posts a few minutes ago and I reiterate a general cease and desist in characterizing other posters in the way some have done. I truly understand that a few here feel attacked by opposing opinions, but unless said posts are attacking other posters, you'll have to accept contrary opinions in a discussion thread when there is no baiting, flaming, or other anti-TOS behavior going on.

 

Adendum to the Ring Theory, JJ has changed things a little bit. He is not completely rhyming. Probably why GL is a little miffed. And yes Finn is also paralleling Luke's journey.

 

If that fails, I wouldn't be opposed to making a new thread from scratch in Community and keeping this one here.

I don't believe I ever said anything about wanting something R rated. Sexual tension doesn't have to lead to actual on-screen sex, but you don't want it to be like watching your parents kiss, either!

Disney is great for romances between girls who are 16 (and younger in some cases) and older, often more worldly, guys. Maybe you can help me out with examples of Disney characters who were best buddies first and then slowly fell in love. Some of those Disney Princes are serious creepers!

You don't know what is going to happen between Rey and Kylo in the next two movies, and neither do I. You can say what you DON'T want to happen, just as I can say what I would like to happen, but that's all. Unless you are Rian Johnson in disguise!

 

I see similarities between Anakin and Kylo and some between Obi and Rey, but you lost at the padme comparison. I still don't see where romance comes into play with this whole ring theory thing.

 

Hi...still getting caught up with the past 7 or so pages, but had to share this...watched my cousins tonight (boy, 6 and a girl, 9). My aunt and uncle are star wars fans, and my uncle took them to see TFA. I haven't talked with them about it till today, and I found their opinions amusing and interesting.

When I asked her who her favorite new character was in the movie, the 9 year old said the droids, and that she loves BB8 (she's more into animals and other stuff than SW). That's all I could get from her for now.

When I asked him what he thought of the new movie, the 6 year old couldn't believe I had seen it, and went on to gush about how much he loves Kylo Ren, and how he loved the parts with him in it. I did remind him that Kylo did do bad things and kill his dad (as much as I too love Kylo/Ben, I felt like I should probably say something), but my cousin responded to that with, "Oh yeah, and can you believe his real name is Ben, like Obi Wan? And then after that he fought Finn." And then asked me if I wanted to have a lightsaber battle, to which I obviously said YES. He then proceeded to go though the whole final battle sequence (he had both the Kylo Ren lightsaber and the one used by Anakin/Obi Wan/Luke/Finn/Rey). He wanted to act out the whole sequence in DETAIL, and he was spot on for only being 6 and seeing it only once. I was surprised that he talked about the tree thing, and then made me switch lightsabers so I was Kylo and he was Finn, and again so I was Rey and he was Kylo. I asked him what he thought of all the new characters, and he said he likes them all, but Kylo is his favorite. Though I sighed when he exclaimed, "And did you know that Rey is Luke's daughter? My dad told me so." I told him that might be the case, but told him I hope that she isn't. When I get a chance I plan on discussing Rey's lineage with my Uncle and trying to convince him why she shouldn't be a Skywalker; i'd love to hear what he thinks of the Rey Kenobi and Rey Palpatine theories...

Just thought I'd share...I found it interesting that Kylo is his favorite, but he likes Rey a lot too; she's his second favorite (also told him how she should have a lightsaber like Darth Maul's, since she fights with a bow staff, and he enthusiastically agreed). As we get closer to 8 I plan on asking them what they think could happen and what they want the characters to do. (and also asking them what they think of the possibility of Kylo returning to the light or becoming a grey jedi and Ben again, and whether Rey and Ben should work together to take Snoke down).

Congratulations! You have 480 pages to find out why they did that.

Movies never only have basic "already laid out" stuffs, they have hints, hidden messages,...etc... You have to invest to find out, and it will also help to keep the hype going until the next movie.

Many contributors of this thread are high-knowledge Star Wars EU's fans, along with new fans who never cared about Star Wars before. Their analysis and theories are very interesting and passionate.

 

I'm not talking about this remark, I'm talking about some stuff that happened earlier when anti-Reylos were basically stalking us, picking out something "risky" in their mind and coming into the discussion by quoting our posts and mocking and belittling us "this belongs on tumblr, this is fanfiction", "you are perverts promoting domestic abuse". Hence the dislike.

@Sunbeam: Be very clear on this: I will slap hard for TOS violations should anyone call you or any other poster "perverts." But there is a huge difference between saying (general) YOU are perverts, and the "pairing is perverse."

In future and as long as this thread remains in New Films, report any post you feel crosses the line OR PM a mod. Any mod.

In the meantime, stating others are calling posters perverts is not accurate. However, EVERYONE, I do suggest - strongly - using less potentially misunderstood and potentially inflammatory language in this thread.

 

As I predicted,you are just not going to agree with Reylo being romantic. see ring theory works for other things to. LOL. Each trilogy is a set. They don't deviate. The middle ESB & AOTC each had a romantic arc. Reylo is on the inverse of Anime. How do you know? it is a visual clue in TFA that is in ROTS... One begins where the other ends.

 

This is when I know I am being baited, because it is fairly easy to understand

 

If this thread becomes a fan club thread and moves to the community will we still be stalked and called domestic abusers?

If you move to Community, I have no idea and will have no "modly duty" to interfere (unless no Movie Mod is available). Actually, I'll rephrase that: here AND there should you move, no one is allowed to call any poster a domestic abuser. If that happens, report the post.

As for a fanclub, you can make it clear no dissenters viewpoints are welcome and can try to specify if any discussion is allowed or if only gushing is allowed, or however you want to set it up (within reason). This is why I think starting fresh there would be best for all.

 

I like being told I don't see it because I don't agree with the paring. I just don't see the padme and rey comparison. Please enlighten me.

 

And for those who don't understand Reylo because Rey HATES Ren, yes because if everything about Kylo is inverted from Anime and paralleling Han & Leia that is EXACTLY where it should begin.

I believe I understand the comparisons you're making. I think it's inevitable that the writers will use previous Star Wars films to establish connections between our three trilogies, but I don't necessarily think they'll follow such a set and predictable pattern, with so much role-reversing, inverse-theorizing and anti-characters. It's impossible to say right now, as we only have one movie in the new trilogy. Once we have two, the pattern might become more clear, but by that point all this will be a moot point. We'll have a million other things to debate. I don't need all these connections to know what I saw in The Force Awakens. A clear bond is established between Ren and Rey — a negative one, yes — but a bond nonetheless. None of the overarching narrative details impact that. Rey's identity doesn't matter, the fact that Ren is currently very much on the Dark Side doesn't matter, the connections between the other movies don't matter. A great deal of this story is going to surround them, and while I don't ship Reylo romantically, I have a good understanding of where our narrative is going from here based entirely on the movie we do have.
