Hahahaha, Sepra your one nice thing about Outcast was Hayden's faux hawk! But yes, I agree. I think there are probably a handful of folks who are just entirely soured on the franchise going forward now, but I don't think that describes most here in the PT forum. I get the general impression that most of us have at least some things we are optimistic about or looking forward to seeing in 8 and 9 too even if not everyone is jumping up and down about it.

I'll say that I personally have seen much, much less of the absolutist "it was a total failure from beginning to end and I cannot fathom why anyone defends this garbage" sentiment expressed in the the PT space, about ANY part of the saga, than you'll find in many SW spaces elsewhere. I like to think or hope that after watching the PT take such a relentless beating for such a long time now, more of us are willing to cut the ST or whatever some slack even if it didn't totally knock it out of the park for us.

Dissent is OK, we don't all have to like every part of the canon, of course. PTers get/got accused of having that attitude a lot so I try to keep in mind that someone saying they don't like something, or giving their own reasons why they don't like it, is not a personal attack or them necessarily saying that I am an idiot for liking something I like. My fangirl rage comes out when people start down the "*everyone* hated that complete nightmare of a film, [whatever] was clearly poorly done, and Lucas should be tarred and feathered" path, because it's just inaccurate and mean-spirited. But if someone just legitimately hates AOTC (or whatever) well, as I've said, more Wolfman Kenobi for me then. I'm not about to force them to like it or tell them they're not allowed to say they thought it sucked if that's how they really feel. It sure wouldn't be the first time someone told me they hated the PT, heh.
Well hello then, my pale cousin, hahaha.

I could legit listen to that man say the phrase "Obi-Wan Kenobi", in his actual normal speaking voice, on loop. It is DELIGHTFUL. Like, I can't even really think of something that I could have thought of on my own that I would rather hear in a Scottish accent. That worked out well, hahahaha. And yes, he is a man of many talents and every now and again I remember why when I was 16, I was pretty sure I was going to have to marry him someday.

The other thing I was thinking by the end of that movie is that I'm getting pretty run down, between this and the 400 times my kid has asked to watch the PT lately, on watching this guy tragically watch someone he loves die (either actually die, or in the "as good as dead, also on fire" category.) It's just been one downer ending after another. I'm starting to feel bad for Ewan even though none of this is real (...it's not, right? Star Wars is so prevalent in my home right now I'm beginning to lose all sense of reality.)

Oh, and Deliveranze, I really hope they have Luke do something cool duel-wise, in 8. I would love to see that.

It also has some decent original characters to follow, the most underrated character in the SW films, bits with Bail, Sheev and Tarkin, and an epilogue with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon.

That last bit segues into Kenobi quite well.

The faux hawk was majestic though! That man has a great head of hair. And I'm a tough hair critic.

I think that's what I was getting at. When it comes to TFA, if a poster doesn't like it, they're generally not on here writing five paragraph essays about how Rey is a Mary Sue or slagging on Finn. Like, if you don't like something that's okay, but let's talk about it constructively. I also have a habit of not trying to bang my head against a brick wall, so if I see that happening on a thread, I usually peace out. I've only ever gotten angry once, and that wasn't because of a criticism of the movies.

Maybe you should watch Down With Love next? That's also Dreamy Ewan, but he does dance and sing into the sunset with the girl, so....

Also, I'm waiting for the Ahsoka/Vader fight in Rebels. Has that happened yet?

Sepra, I do have free time this afternoon. I could go for it. How much can I handle before I experience full-blown psychosis, though? Or do we just assume I've already hit that point?

No Ahsoka/Vader showdown yet. It's coming though, soon.

And I think you'll be ok. A happy Ewan may be a good palate cleanser. Also, there are glasses.

AprilMayJune I hope he actually kills a force wielding opponent. He's killed Jabba cronies in the past but we never seen him fight another saber wielder and defeat them in combat. If he does get some action, I hope it's not so they can just kill him off.....

Technically Luke did defeat Vader, just he didn't kill him. Although I'm totally excited for the possibility of Luke vs Kylo or Luke vs Snoke:D Imagine Luke being as skilled as Dooku like in Ep 2&3

Oh God, the glasses. You think this is going to HELP me maintain my sanity? Are you new here? I'm going to be messaging Evening Star every 10 minutes just writing OH MY GOD HIS GLASSES.

Deliveranze, I know, Luke's never really gotten to go full Jedi on anyone before. I hope they don't back down and make it less "flashy" or whatever Because "Everyone" Hated the PT Battles. Luke better be allowed to do some cool badass stuff. :) I shall keep the faith.

As someone who was very, very, realm, super, horribly, frustratingly disappointed when I first saw SM3 in 2007, I have greatly warmed up it it over the last few years. I think the TASM movies have made me appreciate it a lot more as well. Rami's Spider-Man Trilogy is my second favorite comic book trilogy, right behind Nolan's Batman flicks.

I read something (between the lines) earlier in the thread... and I got a feeling people don't feel so strongly about Man of Steel?!

Let me be honest - I never did like or understand Superman as a hero. I mean, he's a super man, who can deal with virtually any earth-thug you throw at him. He's just not that interesting in my book, especially when you compared him to Batman (who happens to be my favorite superhero).

But Man of Steel had something special; It had this guy:

Kevin Costner. I loved him in the role as Jonathan Kent, and most of his scenes brought me close to tears.

... then again, almost every scene with young Clark gives off a thick 'coming-of-age' feel that either annoys or saddens the viewer.

    - "You are my son." (not a Star Wars reference, btw. :p)

I've actually lost track on Marvel's cinematic universe over the last couple of years. "Lost track" in the sense that I know what movies have been released, but I'm hopelessly behind in watching them. I think I stopped around Iron Man 3.

... aaaaand I'm pretty interesting in the "enemy". Dawn of Justice is looking more and more crammed with characters and plot-points, but I'm curious how it will fare. Suicide Squad has potential, but is still a bit of a dark horse in my book. Still, I'm more interested in that movie than the upcoming Captain America with it's "Civil War" story arc. I'm curious how that will work in the cinematic universe, though.

As far as I'm concerned, much of Man of Steel just blows other superhero movies out of the water. Well done to Snyder and company for making me - also not much of a Superman fan - give a damn about this cape-wearing blue boy scout.

The other parts of MoS were, eh... Still, there were some very interesting themes laced throughout even the less well scripted parts of the movie.

I thought it was okay. I thought the good guys and their storyline was a little generic, and I'm sure you can guess what will happen to most of them with Vader as its star. It is interesting to get into Vader's psychology as he's adjusting to becoming Vader. (Hint: he's not really a happy camper!)

I loved the Dark Lord Trilogy.
    Highly recommend it.
    Same with the Kenobi book.
But you know me, I'm a saga fan so I'm easy to please.

Those two make for a great follow up to ROTS and I'd recommend them to any PT or ROTS fan.

I haven't read Luceno's Tarkin or John Jackson Miller's A New Dawn, but they're set in roughly the same early-to-mid Dark Times era and were written by the same authors. They're probably quite good.
