ST The Romantic Future of Kylo Ren and Rey

Noticed something else, just as the love interest between Finn and rey kind of picks up I can't help but notice the cinematic direction, Ren rudely interrupts this sweet moment with "What girl!?" Then it cuts immediately back, interesting it's like fighting over her.

 

I meant in the databank. I don't think people entering this information have access to all the spoilers and everything that will happen in the ST.

As to Kylo's motivations, we don't know them. I think those are important plot points to be revealed in future movies. He's too much of an interesting character to have the potential wasted in pure evil. Even his evil starting point is in a place of confusion, uncertainty, and that's interesting. So we don't know much, and I prefer to wait for an interesting development in the movies.

 

Exactly. For each one the mask is a false persona. Each one is markedly different underneath. Finn is not a mindless shooter. Rey is a lot softer and special underneath than that hard, alien-looking scavenger image. And Ren is not the Jakku Ren cool, thorough, and hardened black ops commander like the mask implies. Instead, in reality he prays to his grandfather and asks permission from his teacher like a nervous awkward teenage boy, and that's just the beginning, nevermind the wildly veering emotions, the constant presence of tears in his eyes, his total unraveling after he meets Rey.

I also was incredibly shocked how frequently he appeared unmasked. I mean by the last third of the movie you hardly see the mask. That was definitely a surprise after having to wait until the last 5 minutes of ROTJ to see what Vader looks like. With how they market the merchandise, you would expect them to push the masked Ren like crazy. Thankfully, I guess the vulnerability aspect of the story and Driver's acting were too good to pass up.

 

My timing is always off... whenever I'm online here, the visitors are there too.

Excellent breakdown of the fairytale elements shown! The Sleep!!! (isn't that a Clow Card) I thought of that too, the interrogation scene was like a dark twist to the True Love's Kiss that wakes up the princess. True Love Mind Probe? lol.

I hope we get a 2nd The Sleep scene... but this time as a juxtapose to rhe scene in TFA..and it plays with the possibility of Ben being able to bring back a near-death injured Rey... using Force heal maybe? Which we all know is seriously a Light Side thing....My headcanon is that Rey almost dying will cause Ben Solo to breakfree from the Kylo Ren persona.

 

Nobody is saying you're a troll because you disagree. The fact is you came in here and posted that you'll relish our dismay when what we want to happen doesn't pan out in future episodes. Let's call a spade a spade.

As a 1st generation fan, I recall Darth Vader as the only "mysterious" character in the OT. 10 year old me (and my 8 year old brother) were intensely interested in the following questions after ANH -

* Who is Darth Vader? Who was Luke's Dad?
* Will Leia end up with Luke or Han?

After ESB -
*OMG Is Vader telling the truth?????
*Is Leia the "another hope" Yoda referred to?
*Will Leia end up with Luke or Han?

I (for one) could hear The Price Is Right "loser" music as the "Luke/Leia are siblings" reveal played out on screen during ROTJ.

 

I just told you...I watched the scene before posting....I've seen shock and that's not what that was.

Whoever puts that in is most likely told what to write by higher-ups. I am sure they aren't just like interns that summarized what they saw. Also, with all the people behind this trilogy, I doubt that everything in the databank wasn't thoroughly checked even by people who know what direction the trilogy is going.

 

I had never noticed that. Rey and Finn have a long scene. Kylo's is short and sweet, but interrupts the moment Rey and Finn are bonding. Amost as if the movie wants the audience to be aware that there's someone else interested in the girl. (even if the interest might not seem very positive at first). When the movie cuts back to the Falcon, an alarm sounds. Oooooh, interesting.

You'll need to replicate the experiment before it can be accepted as anything more than random chance. Look into the way the units are set up as well to see what gear effects and other variables might be coming into play.

Great stuff! I have questions. Isn't Refusal of the Call always followed by Accepting the Call? I mena, what's the point of a refusal if it won't be accepted later? Just don't call. So I'm thinking:

Finn accepted the call right away (Jakku) but then they gave him that moment of doubt that didn't go anywhere which should count as sorta Refusal of the Call (Takodana). he accepted it bakc 5 minutes later (Takodana)

Rey flat out Refused the Call of the saber (Takodana) but accepted it when facing Kylo (Star Killer).

Kylo Refused several Calls (though letting Finn get away with disobedience is grey area, not a full acceptance but toying with it) but the biggest of them was Han Slaying (Star Killer). we are yet to see the moment of full acceptance.

I agree. But I brought that point up in argument with the OP who was arguing that Ren had completely turned and was totally without light post-Han. If that was the case, I don't think he would be in a penitent mood. The fact that her justice gives him relief and peace indicates he thinks he had it coming and is open to some level of atonement. A totally turned darksider wouldn't think like that. He would just be about hate and revenge for what she had done to him.

 

I think it's too much stuff to check, and too many important details. If an important twist is to be kept, very few people should know about it.

The massacre of the academy (that wasn't academy), the timeline, everything is muddled and confused. It's an important event that triggered the present tragedy. Usually, when a key important event is obscured, it is because the plot will have some revelations about it. I really think there's a lot more to Kylo's turn and the not-academy massacre than we know.

If, however, we are supposed to believe Kylo killed Luke's students, what is anyone supposed to put in the databank? That he killed them, because that's the perception.

Again, I'm not claiming Kylo didn't necessarily participate in the massacre, but I'm certain there's a lot more to it than we are led to believe. And led to believe is key here. But everyone is free to disagree, after all, it's speculation.

 

Kylo literally hits the ground, sits up....and is then separated from Rey by the ground cracking open. Rey then takes off to help Finn. We don't see Ren's reaction after getting over his shock so to assume it's an indication of a significant light in him, is stretching.

Second Sleep scene should be Sleeping Kylo cause role reversal is the best Reylo.

There is stuff in one of the other TFA related books on people disappearing in that village and skulls of enemies on windows...I just don't have the books on hand at the moment to quote from them....I just gave you the quote which mentions they're not unarmed innocents since I happen to have that book with me at the moment.

 

I actually have terrible movie dynamic comprehension, which is ironic since I'm a visual artist...but since I'm more into reading and writing, my brain pieces details easier with words... So with the movies, I actually have to watch them a few more times since I keep missing out some stuff like twists and reveals and minor scene details..Tho the dialogues do stick.... So when the I am your father part came along my feeble brain was like.... lol... haha...yeah right....you trollin' Darth... *credits roll* wait, WHAT? ITS TRUE?

It was really fun marathoning all 6 movies because I felt smarter about SW afterwards lol. And could sigh in relief that the character devs sorta made sense after all.

 

i respect your opinion it make me curious how your version of shocked face look like because i just google it pretty much look same ( eye widening and mouth gaping). there is three time kylo look shocked to me first when rey read his deepest fear (shock of disbelief) second one is when after he killed han (shocked sad face maybe shock of dismay . it even on novel script) and when rey force pull the lightsaber ( shock of amazement)

 

They were unarmed when Ren ordered them all killed. The villagers were detained, mission goals met and still Ren called for their deaths.

Now, please give me the title of this book that mentions people going missing in village so I can see the context for myself.
