And note the shape of the one door shown, compared to the entrances they are building. Not the same but a similar shape. Yes I certainly feel that this is where we will be. As I recall, one of the early concepts was to find Han there, in a bit worse social position that what was decided on. But certainly reusing that Crime City concept has all kinds of exciting potential.

Agreed. And I hope it's full of aliens. I'd like to see a jostling crowd that's sort of a mix of Tatooine and Coruscant in the sense that it's a major urban area like Coruscant (though smaller, of course), but with the poverty of Tatooine. I'm thinking a Delhi or Bangkok vibe. Mix of European architecture and South Asian urban bustle.

Sadly, they mostly look like wood, foam and polystyrene so they'd be destroyed in no time at all.

No, they won't leave up a bunch of foam props covering up a city that draws millions of vacationers a year because of its medieval architecture. Also, it's foam and plaster and will disintegrate when left out in the elements for any extended period of time. I'd be willing to bet those pillars will be supporting CGI structures.

Honestly, I'm sure the property owners wouldn't mind - as much as some architecture snobs would be horrified, there would be a massive influx of new interest because of the SW connection.

But I think you're right - they're made of temporary materials and are most likely going to be removed at the end of the shoot. I'm just easily taken in by simulated brickwork!

But at least it's real fake brickwork, not CGI brickwork :)

Imagine the furore on here if they'd erected a load green screens!

I was looking at the pictures of Naboo streets from the OT....They do resemble the sets at Dubrovnik.

Revisiting Naboo would be a good option that probably would not offend too many people.

The possibility of Dubrovnik being Naboo and being a prominent part of the movie has got me thinking. Rey's role in Episode VII was deeply cathartic and satisfying for many fans of Star Wars who over the decades felt like girls were to an extent left out in the previous movies.

Lucasfilm could go two for two if things are revealed in this film that retroactively make it so that Luke and Leia were not utterly unconcerned with details regarding their mother's life as it seems they were in the original trilogy.

Hell, what if they give us a really wild twist and it turns out Vader and/or Emperor DID keep her alive using the dark side somehow....

Anyway, making the mythology of their mother as significant or closer to the significance of that of their father could be a brilliant move, work that has already begun with the prequels and Clone Wars content familiarizing the audience with Padme.

Padme is definitely dead even though her death in ROTS makes me want to shake George Lucas for writing that ridiculousness. Although if Rey is Luke's daughter, I would love it if he kinds of shows her some of their past and if he went back to Naboo with her because he figured out who Padme was and how awesome she was, I would love it. A lot.
