PT Practical Effects in the Prequels- Sets, Pictures, Models, etc.

I have to say this is one of my favorite threads so far! I love looking at behind the scenes stuff and could look at these pictures for hours(and I might do that).

The prequals had more chi then the OT, but also more practical effects. Episode 1 alone had more practical effects then the entire OT combined-little known fact.

I'm convinced the people who say the prequals' CGI is bad and dated are just trolls. It's flooded on youtube and yet makes no sense. You can't tell the difference between the CGI and the practical effects! If anything the CGi should be applauded because it costs MORE which means they're putting more effort into it. Also it helps makes CGI evolve with each film.

I respect the skill put into making the models and sets as well, it just sucks because I see no point in needing it to be real unless the CGI is bad, which in star wars movies is never the case. There is a thing of being able to touch them, but let's be real. None of us are ever going to own a piece of star wars movie sets....if you will then you're lucky.

CGi is good, the props are good. The thing is people will just hate on CGi to be sheep and join the nagging crowd who complain for complaining. You can't hate CGi for being CGi, only hate it when it's BAD. These sets look amazing I wish I could own them. Feels like such a waste that episode 3's sets were mostly destroyed. On the episode 3 special features the crew even said it was heart breaking but it was cheaper to destroy then store and sell or give away.... ;/

Can someone explain to me why AOTC looks different compared to the other films?

I have always noticed it but now it makes it LOOK "dated". (Lack of a better word)
The colours and Saturations especially.

I am not looking for an argument nor do I dislike the prequels, at all, I am a huge fan and love them.

 

I think the reason AOTC looks so different is because it was one of the 1st major movies shot on digital film.

Early digital film was "off" color wise.

 

Honestly, I liked the colouring of AoTC. I thought it looked nice and it kept your attention to the screen.

 

i like aotc's color but i have the dvd version.
