I agree with you. I totally share and understand your frustrations with this whole situation. It's very saddening we may never get full soundtracks for AOTC and ROTS (despite how amazing the music is in both of them).

Wait a minute, why was the music in TPM's ultimate edition edited in to small pieces? I may not be a musician, but that just sounds extremely odd.

Do you think there is any chance Disney will ever release more complete versions of AOTC and ROTS soundtracks someday?

I'm not really sure as to the reasons behind the editing of the release. I don't really know why they felt the need to take longer tracks and cut them down into smaller fragments. I think it was decided by whoever published the album, as I can't see John Williams doing anything like that. Maybe they thought it would be a better arrangement of the music, though I can't see how.

In any case, Audacity helped me just paste the tracks together, though with some occasional blips at the crossover points.

 

I agree. Weird decisions everywhere. Have you noticed the piece for the opening of AOTC is the Kamino theme? I can't wrap my mind around that decision when that's not what's in the beginning of the movie at all.

It's a free audio editing software. It's got all the tools I could ever want for customising tracks to my hearts content, and creating edits of them.

Yeah, the opening is weird. Why couldn't they have posted the opening track, and the Kamino themes separately.

Also note that on the soundtrack, the music that plays before Obi-Wan goes to meet Jango is placed before the music that plays when he arrives on Kamino. Madness!

Also, here is the track that does play after the opening in the film.



It's a nice piece, very tense, with several uses of the mystery theme. Note the use of what sounds like the ANH Imperial theme at 2:03, a possible hint towards the fate of the Republic? The track was partially reused in ROTS as well, during the War Council where Cody tells the Jedi that Obi-Wan has engaged Grievous.

 

Also Christopher Lee's "what the heck" expression and posture is hilarious

 

You know, I've never actually seen any blooper reels or anything for Star Wars, do they exist?

 

I watched TPM yesterday and I loved it more than ever.

Some of the reasons:
- the movie is weird as hell, with so many details popping up in every scene and funny alien creatures
- Anakin - I truly enjoyed Llyod's performance, he certainly contributed to creating my fav movie character (I'll talk about that more in another thread once I'm finished with all the prequels)
- visuals - I still think this is the most beautiful of the six movies
- acting - perfectly fine, Liam Neeson was amazing
- Darth Maul - so cool
- politics - yes, politics
+ everything else really

No, this track was compiled and edited by Filmscoremedia, a channel with lots of unreleased Star Wars music, from the Prequels, some video games, and the TV shows.

He even posted some unused tracks from TPM.

I think the vast majority of his tracks come from video games. I know that his Death of Dooku track used music extracted from the new Battlefront.

I love what he's doing to spread William's music, though I wish it wasn't necessary.

Having just looked at that channel, I can say I'm glad someone is spreading the great music that shouldn't have to be spread at all.
