ST The Romantic Future of Kylo Ren and Rey

I don't know about Rey being a laboratory experiment. Daisy Ridley did say Rey had a family.....

 

That's also the general reaction from the antis whenever anybody gives real evidence supporting Rey and Ren's connection.

 

I don't like the Rey Kenobi theory, but, to be fair, it has more substance than the Rey Skywalker theory. (less scenes in TFA disproving it, with similar amount of visual parallels)

Speaking of parentage, I'm starting to think Rey Skywalker is going to be debunked before the next movie comes out. I think they are letting it be for now, as people think Rogue One might showcase Rey's mom. But I think more and more little comments in interviews, tweets, will steer people away from it. I also believe Bloodlines will have a noticeable absence of any mention of Leia's niece, even a lost one, or a love interest for Luke. Of course, this won't stop the most obstinate Rey Skywalker supporters, but it might make a difference in the general opinion.

Acknowledging and coming to terms with one's bloodline is definitely going to be a major theme in this saga. I feel this could be especially poignant for Leia's character. Leia is, of course, as much a Skywalker as Luke, yet she has never been treated as such. Her family's tragic circumstances were inherited from a bloodline she doesn't seem to even recognize in herself (General Leia Organa). In the original trilogy, Luke was given the chance to reconcile with, forgive, and love the father behind the mask. Leia, not so much. Leia's development in this saga could see her come to terms with "the truth that is [her] family," to accept and feel the overwhelming power that Anakin passed on to her, and that she subsequently passed on to Ben. When discussing Ben in TFA, Han blames Ben's misfortunes on his Skywalker blood. He has "too much Vader in him." Even in death, Anakin is held responsible for Ben's Dark side affliction. An interaction between Anakin's force ghost and Leia would be truly moving and is something I would love to see.

Thematically speaking, it just feels right for Rey to have originated from the Dark side. I don't think she's a Palpatine. Frankly, I prefer to shy away from any convoluted theory that would rely too heavily on exposition concerning pre-established characters or plot-lines (Rey Skywalker, Kenobi, Palpatine etc.) Whatever Rey is, Dark side or otherwise, I imagine it'll be more tied in with the overarching narrative of this current saga, something to do with Snoke or the Knights of Ren possibly.

Really? I would say the rate at which this thread grows is evidence against that. People disagree, yes, but at least they engage each other even when they disagree. I've disagreed with many here but I've never felt dismissed outright by the regulars. It never feels like talking to a wall. If you write something in other threads, there's a 99.9999% chance that nobody will respond at all.

 

How do you think that is an evidence o Rey Kenobi? I'm not disagreeing, just trying to understand.

Not that again. It was clearly explained in the novel. R2 awoke cause he had the archives from the empire necessary to complete the map.
And JJ said R2 just woke up, no mysterious reason, and no clue of anything.

Because R2D2 woke up immediately when Rey came. It's not all about Luke.

Of course, like I wrote, I think Rey Kenobi has as much substance as Rey Skywalker.

I'm a redhead by choice as well. Some people think I'm a natural, I don't know why. I don't know, I prefer talking about Kylo's hair than my hair.

 

In Part 3 I'll be summarizing basically everything from this thread to discuss just why Rey and Ren have been established to follow the beauty and the beast trajectory. The only thing I hate is that people who don't know fairytales as well as me will automatically make the assumption that I'm comparing Rey and Ren to a Disney movie... which is not the case at all. Beauty and the Beast is a romantic trope, a hero/villain dynamic that is thousands of years old, not some Disney flick.

Yea even Colin said her family reveal will be deeply and profoundly satisfying. Rey Skywalker isn't satisfying in the slightest.

Maybe I'm biased, but keeping Kenobis in the picture, as well as Browalkers, is deeply satisfying.
