Yea, sure Kenobi was a huge character in both of the last trilogies so it's natural to me anyway to keep a Kenobi within this Trilogy.

It could have been satisfying had TFA ended on a poignant father daughter reunion, had the plot veered in that direction. At this point, what does a Luke as father reveal do the the plot? To Rey as a character? Luke is already her master, isn't he being a father redundant?

So yes, I'm also thinking the reveal has to be different.

Still, in terms of Rey Kenobi, it demands a lot of explanation about a back story involving a character who hasn't really been mentioned in TFA, I find it convoluted. On the up side, though, the first rumours about TFA involved a female Kenobi (sorry, I can't quote cause don't even remember where I read it, but those were the early early rumours, from trustworthy sources, not reddit or stuff like that). So it could be. But I find Rey Kenobi somewhat convoluted, and it involves creating a love story between films, almost like a character retcon. I don't know. Maybe Rey is a descendant of Obi-Wan's sister or brother? But then again, it involves a convoluted backstory. Well, we'll see. At least Rey hasn't met any Kenobis who did not recognize her, so there's that.

Yes Kenobi isn't mentioned at all, until the vision where Kenobi actually speaks to Rey. A character he's never even met, and she hasn't got a clue who he is.

Oh it does happen, people have actually called posters thick, which is quite cruel. But I will keep my council here. Not looking for fights. I mean don't get me wrong there are even worse threads than this. I try to be objective, mostly in this thread you can display that. In others specifically one that kept getting locked all the time in the run up to TFA was down right disgusting, bordering on bullying. I actually barley go on those threads these days which would be a surprise most on this thread. Am sure long term posters know exactly what am going on about.

Sing it sister!!!!! I agree with every word of this! She was hopeful when she watched Han and Kylo .... because she had seen in his mind and was "amazed" (wording in the script), not horrified. She has to know he is not all bad! As a result her feelings for him are really confused, so I completely agree with your discussion of her very "personal" reaction to him, especially after the cliff side. There are some crazy gifs around that show Ren's and Rey's eyes in about six different seconds at the cliffside scene, and well, if you watch it long enough, not only does the whole thing seem really sexual, but the second before she goes into full snarling hate there is a moment on her face that is definitely not hatred. I'm not saying it's love or anything, but it's something not negative, but then she almost scolds herself with self-disgust and goes into full-on fury. I wrote something up about this a while back when I saw the gifs. I haven't seen them for a while, but someone on the board may know where you can find them.

There is about 10 dogs going into training to see which one will earn the job. The plane is quite small and they're testing the dogs to see which one is smart enough to work the controls!!!!

I find the gifs sometimes stretch the scene, and give the viewer the illusion that it's longer.

I agree that Rey did not leave the interrogation with a bad impression of Kylo. She is surprised that Kylo is Han's son, but doesn't seem worried, afraid for Han, until the deed happens, and she's shocked.

In the duel, after she closes her eyes it's true that she opens her eyes and has a puzzled look, before she gets angry.

And their parting looks are priceless. The ground opens and Kylo raises his head to see Rey. For me he wants to make sure she's ok. Rey also looks back. Such a moment of connection.

 

Could Vader read minds like Kylo can? I can't remember
