ST The Romantic Future of Kylo Ren and Rey

Hmm. To my ears, her accent in the film is very RP. Very different from Daisy's own. She had a dialect coach for the film, too.

 

I thought I read somewhere that Daisy had worked with a dialect coach to "posh-up" her accent....
Curious, very curious. And gives brotential to the Rey Kenobi theory.

 

I just love this post...I do....this made me laugh....and want to buy a real sized Kylo...

I agree. People here have made much better arguments for Rey Kenobi, the video was just what made me aware of the theory's existance and because I had already seen the Reylo undertones by that point I was open to it

 

Well that sounds very....ummm useful. Imagine what that regular pilot announcement on each commercial flight would sound like in a few years time.

 

It would be really cool if Plagues made a cannon appearance in the movies.In the EU he really is the creator of the Skywalker family.I know that theory has been debunked by the actor playing him but still the music the,Ed are way too similar plus I don't think it's a coincidence they had the line about Snoke being wise.I am wondering though would Rey still be technically related to the Skywalkers if Snoke/Plagues created bother her and Anakin.

Obi Wan was a damn good climber in his old age,LOL. Well, Rey did the same in the TFA in DS.2.0., aka SK. Remember?

He closes his eyes, just like Ray when she fought Kylo. These are the kind of hints I consider relevant because they are subltle. They can't hit us on our heads with something too obvious if they want to make her origins a surprise, but this, this is subtle, like finding Luke's lightsabre in a wooden chest.


Or Mc Gregor's and Alec Ginness's voices during her vision, her Brittish accent, things like those, make me believe she is a Kenobi. And then also marketing, because as regards future movies, Obi Wan would be more than convinient to raise the interest for his character and make him star in a future movie. Ewan MacGregor as Obi Wan in his own movie, sounds like a very good idea too me. Obi Wan is mysterious and heroic, he would make a great protagonist. Palpatine, not so much, I think. One has to think of everything, LOL:

 

Yeah, I like the similarities between the Mustafar and the SB fight. There are some clear visual parallels. It might mean something, not necessarily blood connection, though. I find that perhaps it just means that Kylo is making a trajectory backwards from what would be Anakin in ROTS. That's why the fight was similar and opposite to Mustafar. As to Rey's role, I don't know. Perhaps it's similar cause in a way she's the apprentice, not the master?

As to the accent, I don't know, it's not genetic, but it could mean something.

 

One more thing about Rey's origins: I think there are probably small clues peppered in the film that we'll notice or only be able to interpret correctly after we find out who she is. Like her hairstyle. And the flowers. Were the flowers real flowers or fabric flowers she's been making for herself? If they're real, where did she get them? If she made them herself, how does she even know what flowers look like, unless she remembers the flowers from her early childhood?

 

Sure, I could pass as Rey...I'm tall enough...and kinda have the same hairdo now...but I really wanna be Kylo...

I don't know, I'll vote on something related to King Prana or his adversary, just because it is such random unnecessary information in an otherwise very tight movie.
Another option is Benicio Del Toro as a father.
I really think the real clues are yet to come.

 

If anything this makes me believe she is an amalgamation of all force legends, created by the force itself, Rey will be the weapon to defeat the dark-side imo. She climbs like Obi, is a good pilot like Anakin, can control the dark-side but be left uncorrupted, is a believer like Luke... i guess? Empathy?

Edit: aha of course, scrap worker/ mechanic/ engineer like Luke!

 

Oh, I forgot he and BB-8 acted in a movie together before TFA.....

Me too....now I don't know anything. ...would explain how she is good at everything....although I like download Kylo/force bond theiry better....but then again Kylo doesn't fly or climbs, right? So confused

I agree that mentioning King Prana felt like random unnecessary information. If he's related to Rey in any way, it's also interesting if you think that Han was on his way to Prana - to a member of the "family" Rey was desperately waiting for? - but they were diverted from that course.

 

But the ones you mention are not subtle, that's the idea. You should look for some subtle hints, the hidden ones,the ones that take you longer to notice, The others would make it too obvious and there would be no surprise. This is what I think, at least. The other "hints" are as as sublte as a brick hitting your head. The satisfying clues are the ones that make you smile when you look backwards and think, 'Oh, that scene'. It's not fun if everybody catches them immediately, that is lazy writing. Of course this doesn't mean I think I have the answer, this is only my opinion. If the answer is something we don't expect I will be more than happy, because that's the aim, surprise surprise.

I was one of the people who went to the cinema thinking she was Luke's because of the trailers. Well, what is the point of making people wait so long to surprise us with something everybody guessed by looking at the trailers?

And Obi Wan was a very good pilot too, by the way.

Yeah i know, but the same could be said of Anakin because of his pod-racing, or Luke because of his academy/t-16, but the force was with them when they piloted their ships also.

 

I'm wondering if Rey is even her actual name, or maybe her last name? I think it was mentioned in the past that her name for most of the story development was Kira, and then it became Rey pretty late on? The internet is telling me Kira means light predominantly in various languages it seems, but in gaelic, it means dark, dusky, black haired one etc (from ciar meaning black it seems). Interesting double meaning. The Kira Rey and Kylo Ren would be another yin yang thing (altho many would see it as siblings). It'd be an interesting twist I think.
