I love Beauty and the Beast, it's my favourite Disney animation. I've always related to Belle as someone who loves to read and I like to think I'm pretty independent (and not to mention my natural hair colour is brown along with my eyes - I even dressed up as her once when I was a kid :p ), and never thought that she lost her agency when she fell in love with the Beast, even though technically maybe you could call it Stockholm Syndrome! I certainly didn't see it that way at the time though, I felt that through her kindness and compassion the Beast fell in love with her, and showed her that he could be kind and compassionate too.

I do definitely see the similarities in their stories and cinematography so far. I would like to think that Kylo Ren is inspired to make a change for himself by her positive influence, or maybe because she also starts falling to the dark side, although I don't want her to be rescued by him so to speak.

Haha, now that'll be the ultimate twist! Finishing what his grandpa started..:p

Actually there's a strong foreshadowing that Rey will get tempted by the dark side... so she'll have the same struggle which Kylo Ben has, paralleling them even more. She'll have duality and polarity, making them both phoenixes in that sense. For now, their dynamic shifts that either one of them stays in one position for long... but both of them are not in the same side at the same time, which is really interesting.:)

Little_Boots I think that something happened in the past that made Snoke question Kylo's loyalty or ability to cross certain lines at Snoke's order. So when he killed Han, Snoke's concluded that Kylo is now fully his and therefore worthy of the training. But there's a catch that Kylo haters simply don't want to see. Snoke envisioned this: Kylo killed Han and that was it, poof goes light out of Kylo. But he didn't know about the catch - Han didn't die right away but had enough time to touch his son's face to show him that he a) loved him and b) forgave him. That moment is really bigger deal that slaying itself. Because slaying just led to that moment and the moment is THE MOMENT. Some fans simply are too focused on what led to THE moment while brushing off THE moment entirely because it doesn't fit into what they want from the movie and Kylo's character.

So the moral of the story is that Han pulled Kylo up but Snoke doesn't know about it. And Kylo is currently too broken to think about it but it'll play big role in the crucial moment. This is just act 1.

I think Snoke decision on training Kylo now because Snoke think the act of killing his own father could make more people hates Kylo and thus but him father into the dark but instead it's the factory to save him. Because in Korea Myth, before becoming a full length Dragon , one must pass the test or else it would be considered as a fallen dragon

"Korean folk mythology states that most dragons were originally Imugis (pronounced "Ee-Moo-Gi"), or lesser dragons, which were said to resemble gigantic serpents. There are a few different versions of Korean folklore that describe what imugis are and how they aspire to become full-fledged dragons. Koreans thought that an Imugi could become a true dragon, or yong or mireu, if it caught a Yeouiju which had fallen from heaven. Another explanation states they are hornless creatures resembling dragons who have been cursed and thus were unable to become dragons. By other accounts,[according to whom?] an Imugi is a proto-dragon which must survive one thousand years in order to become a fully fledged dragon. In either case they are said to be large, benevolent, python-like creatures that live in water or caves, and their sighting is associated with good luck."

I agree. I loooove disney's BnB. I also never saw her as being weak for falling for the beast. Their initial positive interaction was in response to him saving her during that awesome wolves attack scene. Instead of leaving him for dead, she took him back to the castle. This way, its not a one sided thing. He saved her, then sh,e in turn, saved him.

Has everyone here read TFA novelization?

Sylvia Snow Loving your post about Korean dragon mythology. That's why this forum is thriving - we have fans from all over the world that bring something new and exciting into Reylo discussion. The ship is truly a global event.

Why were you nervous? Because of the rather strict forum rules? Fear of the contrary opinions?

Or... fear of being dragged into this time spending tunnel and never getting out?

I bet this place is going to be swarming after the DVD comes out, and after the first trailers come out (hopefully).

A year from now we'll be speculating for Episode VIII.
[face_plain] It is a long time... I think many of us will take some time off.
But there are always new peeps to keep the conversation alive!

And don't forget about the epic lightsaber duel with them grabbing each other's wrists like Obi and Ani did in ROTS. Gah I just love that lightsaber duel it's going to go down as one of the best I think. I can't wait to watch it 8,000 times when the DVD comes out.

I've noted that it averages about 10 pages a day, give or take. So maybe another week or so?

We need to do something special for the big 4-digits.

So I just finished listening to the Star Wars soundtrack for the millionth time, but with more of a focus on when Rey's theme comes up. It is the most triumphant after Kylo takes her. Reminded me of what I think FrolickingFizzgig said that this is William's dramatic hinting of "thus their story begins..." I'd think if there was no hinted love story, it would sound more menacing with a "helpless" version of Rey's theme if that makes any sense.
I also get the sense that it starts off very adventurous, then it when it heightens, it sounds like she's at in the moment of really trying to help someone (hehe my reylo projections).

xyloren Agreed, we'll need something special but we'll think about it when the time comes. maybe, hopefully, fingers crossed, they release more legal Reylo stuff that can be used here.

Thank you, but it also because the fact that when we're looking in to Reylo as well as Kylo and Rey separately, we always found somethings new about them. But really, now I think of it, maybe Snoke do afraid of Kylo, at first Snoke wants Kylo because he is have both Light and Dark inside him but later on in the movie, Snoke want Kylo turn darker, this happens because Snoke afraid the power of Light inside Kylo, the same power that saved Anakin from totally Darkness.

Oh, Snoke definitely wants to purge all feelings for Kylo's family from Kylo to prevent Anakin 2.0 from happening. So he thinks Han Slaying was proof of success. Little does he know.

Good point. As someone who isn't a Reylo shipper (I've lurked here for a while :) ) do you see any similarities between BatB and TFA? Just curious.

And no I haven't personally read it, I'm not generally a fan of SW books but I might give the Junior novelisation a go judging by some of the comments here.

That would be the reason why Snoke delayed the training! He never expected the pull to the light to be this strong. So he told himself that turning Ren to total Darkness was the only option left since the boy has never been able to reconcile the two... What a good explanation! ^^

Awesome catch with the bolded! Obi-Wan did close his eyes and Vader took him out. Oh yeah, Kylo is so full-on dark in the Snow Fight! LoL!

And so poignant and so true with the italicized line. I think you are absolutely right.

Finally, you gave me credit for the above-awesome post. This post is fantastic, but it is not me. I think it is Reynak.

You know those forceful blows she hits Kylo with, they are similar to how you would use a staff to hit someone. Im certain she is going to be using that Staff..also the crystals in the concept art show how lightsabers are made. It's going to be important to see, it will probably be part of her training to go and retrieve a crystal and put it in the lightsaber end of her staff.

I saw that they are using some caves with crystals for the next movie

Yes! I hope they show that part of the training in the movie cause it's dangerous. It also includes temptation so possibility of Force Bond Kylo or Vision Kylo or other incarnation of Crystal Cave Temptation Kylo popping out of the water (nekkid [face_praying] ) is, well, tempting to think about.

YES! It's like the ANH rehash eased people back into trusting the franchise, but at the same time it provided great cover for all the subversive elements in it. JJ said you had to go back to move forward, and Kasdan said VIII would be different or weird. I think VIII is going to be a whole new ball game. It has to be if they are going to try to achieve something real here.

Honestly, I don't really see any similarities. I just view BnB and aladdin as a real high point for disney animation.
