ST The Romantic Future of Kylo Ren and Rey

I'm afraid I don't give a fig for what haters have to say, really. I have better things to do than bumping my head against thick walls. I may be wrong but I think it's better for us to write posts for people who really want to exchange ideas and opinions. As for the rest, I don't care. I can't undertand why people waste their time antagonising and derailing threads where people discuss things they don't like. I can't imagine anything more boring than spending time on a thread where they discuss issues I don't care about, so I can't get why they do it. Of course it's great to consider and discuss different opinions and perspectives and that's fine and interesting but haters gona hate. Hating a ship or a theory about fiction is such an irrational thing to do that you can't expect rational argumentation from people who don't care about logic, they just get carried away by their own biases and negative feelings. They can go on hating until the end of time for all I care.


Posting Meta on Tumblr is OK though, if you want to keep haters away you can disable youre mail box or not allow mail from anonimous users. You can also block people, and ignore posts from haters. There's no reason you have to put up with hate.

 

Someone help me to see that i'm seeing this wrong I just dont understand why they have put those two pictures at the end of the book like an afterthought/hint. Kylo has a phantom of the opera like mask on and it looks like Adam's face so it cant be that old. He also has a more refined lightsaber.

Then on the following page they have made Rey's character look like the woman Luke had an relationship with.

It just does not make sense to me what they are trying to set up here with these two images, (him being more evil and her being Luke's daughter) in terms of what we see in each of their scenes, they do not suggest siblings. Not at all. I mean its a bridal carry, physical attraction and then Kylo looking like he's in love with her with choker shots and such. Then again this would not be the first time this has happened when i've rooted for a ship and Disney were involved.

 

Interesting, it seems this already happened when Rey finds Luke at the end of TFA... that might be the first part of the prophecy. Kylo probably knows something, but it all depends on what Snoke has told him. They kept everything vague as much as possible to be revealed in the next films.

Luke as the last Jedi, maybe it means that he'll be the last of old order (strictly light). The new Jedi will rise... the Grey order, maybe? Rey and Kylo will start it within themselves first by fully embodying the light and dark, creating the balance (grey).

It's great to see how Reylo has gone from a trash ship to a very real possibilities and a huge reason for that is the Reylo fandom. with their excellent metas and analyses.Keep up the good work,this ship deffinatly needs it in the upcoming years especially with the Rey Skywalker thing.

I don't think you should worry about this right now.These concepts went through lots of changes before we by the final versions.
Besides I don't get why they would keep Kylo alive just to make him more evil like how it is possible to make him worse than he is in TFA?They could have easily killed him then ala Maul and replace him with another villain in the next movie.
If you think about it if there wasn't anymore movies coming up TFA works as a and alone movie.The hero goes on a journey metates her love interest and then defeats the evil guy kind of like how it was with A New Hope but since we know it's trilogy Rey as well as Kylo will go through lots of character development.If someone's in danger of becoming darker I would say it's Rey since Kylo already hit rock bottom.

it would be a very strange waste of this character. i honestly think the worst (killing han) has already been done and the best is yet to come. i think the greatest potential is in achieving maturity. i was discussing campbell with someone over the weekend (the crazy things i get up to!) and realized how much he makes myth about becoming an adult, being mature. it would blow my mind.

i don't know if you guys know the film 'mysterious skin', it's the story of two boys who were sexually abused as children and their journey into adulthood. it's a masterpiece because it never shies from their complicated feelings.

the problem with that for me is that he doesn't come across as someone with a long-term goal. the one line 'finish what you started' is the example we've got, everything else is someone who seems very lost to me. and like i said i think it's not a great theory, it requires too much backtracking and it's too much built on a kind of false suspense, oh, he's evil, oh, he's not, he was trying to do good, oh, ... whatever. emotional whiplash. i'd like it to have been a choice that may have been based on false information and such, i'm thinking that very much, but it should have been a choice that was towards snoke, not for some other nefarious purpose.

 

I don't know but the world is neither black nor white and in war there are always casualties no matter how just a cause is. Thinking that you can blow up a whole base without causing casualties is really naive in my opinion. Such expectations would only belong in cartoons for children and sometimes not even there. I don't know what is on Kylo's mind but the narrative makes me think he is never going to be totally black or white, good or evil.

What Rey did to him was nasty too, humiliating an enemy and playing with him as a cat would play with a mouse is not nice. She might have killed him and there were resons for that but inficting pain for the sake of it, with the aim to cause suffering, that's really dark. Do I blame her? No, I can't. She was beyond herself after what she had seen and she had a human reaction, so good people can do bad things sometimes. It just happens.

And even when people know they have to do something under extreme circumstances, like regular armies sometimes have to do to protect their own citizens, it doesn't mean those soldiers can't feel conficted and even traumatized for what they felt obliged to do, for what was their duty. Unless you stay at home, like most of us do, you have to face really difficult situations.

The tragedy and the beauty of Kylo's character is his humanity. He thinks he is doing the right thing , that his cause is just, like Stanis in ASoIaF, as some of you pointed out before,but what he does to achive his goals may be chilling. In Stannis's case it was. I'm talking about the books, not the TV show, because I don't follow it. Does this mean a good cause can give you a morally justifiable excuse to commit attocities? I'd like to think it doesn't but thanks God I've never found myself in an extreme situation that called for such a decision.

Putting everything in perfectly classified boxes that never mix or interfere with each other is not always possible as regards moral dilemmas. Some people think this is possible, lucky them. I doubt it, though.

What are Kylo's motivations, what does he want to achieve? I don't know, but he is going to be a grey character, I'm afraid. Not someone completey dark at the beginning and totally white at the end.

 

Ok I'm going to stop panicking lol. It looks more like a tribal design on her head, not 2 dots and the type of hair is different.

 

I love this idea! Luke technically being the last jedi but Rey and Kylo finding a balance and setting up a new grey order...and any new episodes after this trilogy could be about the new order finding their place in the galaxy.....the jedi lost their way when they became enforcers for the republic and the sith took advantage of it...hopefully the new order will follow a new path.

Edit: I had this afterthought.....what if Luke foresaw the war and doesn't want to join so retreated to Ach-to? I remember a Rebels episode where Ahsoka mentioned that as the Clone Wars progressed, Yoda became sadder....maybe Luke is having a similar crisis? This would explain his expression in the new promo when Rey offers him the lightsaber.

Wait,I'mm confused now.I thought Luke married Mara Jade and they had a son called Ben in the EU.
If Kylo was going to end up like that I don't think they would have released that art since it would spoilery.

 

I can see why this could point towards Kylo getting darker and Rey being a Skywalker, but yeah, I honestly think it is more significant that they keep getting paired together in places. They seem to be the characters they are focusing on. Also I really hope they don't do that thing with Kylo's hand oh my gosh not another hand hahaha they are cool concepts, though.

The book, I think, shows all the concepts and possibilities they went through? As in, not just costume and prop designs, but storylines and characters? So I imagine it's showing what the artists produced with to flesh out all the wild ideas that JJ etc. came up with. We're looking at plot elements of which few made it into the final movie
I doubt very much if they'd allow anything to go out in the Art book that gave away any aspects of plot for VIII and IX.

If anything, I'd say we were being deliberately teased.

i am very much in agreement.

the problem is not with me seeing that there'll probably be a lot of people dying in these stories and not knowing that this is what happens.

there may be people out there who have joined fundamentalist organisations for undermining them or for changing them. i think that you once you become part of the organisation, your motives will quickly become indistinguishable from theirs. the boundaries will blur and things will be messy. this is star wars, i think we also need some identifiable moral boundaries.

Well, if one of Ben Brolo's kids had a kid with one of Rey Kenobi's kids, those kids would be Brolo/Browalker/Kenobi. Granted, I still think Reylo will happen, I'm just saying that if it doesn't, all is not lost.
