I think that even if In the next movie Luke actually says to her that Obi Wan Kenobi is your grandfather, they will still not believe it and argue until their hair turns blue that this is a trick Luke is playing to test her or something.

I just remembered that Obiwan lost his lightsaber during the fight with Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace....it fell down a chute similar to the one where Annakin's lightsaber fell.....Obiwan later used Qui Gon Jinn's lightsaber to cut Darth Maul into half....this could be that lost lightsaber and not the subsequent one Obiwan used. (Since Darth Maul didn't die, maybe it came into his possession or one of the trash collecting aliens found it?)

I read that there were talks with Ewan McGregor to make an Obiwan movie or trilogy.....then a Rey Kenobi reveal makes sense in episode 9 in terms of marketing the subsequent Obiwan movie.... they just briefly have to show her parents in episode 9 and then where we find out about Obiwan's personal life and story of his child or children depicted in episode 9, giving the viewers the full story.... of course this all depends on if there is going to be an Obiwan movie or trilogy.

Still people think she is a Solo? Even though Daisy basically might has well have called those people fools? Seriously? How delusional is that!

He cut darth maul in half, and Rey seems to have Darth Maul's hilt attached to her staff...probably reaching, but could be significant...

believe it or not, some people don't believe Daisy, even though she clearly stated that Rey 'wasn't' Han Solo's chid

I remember her looking at a youngish woman in strange clothes emerging from a ship with a little kid in the movie and then her eyes fall on the old lady looking at her...this young woman and kid are mentioned in the TFA novel....I'm just waiting for the DVD/Blu ray for confirmation

The man who gets stabbed, I'm fairly sure, has been confirmed as a Knight of Ren called "Clan Leader" and is played by this guy from game of thrones:

Yes, but where does the hate come from? Mostly it's from kiling Han judging from the arguments I've had about it. It's always patricide, patricide, patricide. So I see it as being a little too invested in a favorite fictional character, as well as the immutable core beliefs that while killing is not ok, killing your Dad is unforgivable. Maybe a bit of both.

I don't think most of the Kylo-haters aren't interested in the future development of his character. A lot have expressed that they want him to further develop as a full-fledged bad guy that he's been wanting to be.

I would guess it's short for "Force flashback".

There has been a lot of discussion here about Kylo/Rey and the Knights of Ren. I wish there was an easy way to find it, because I would like to re-read all of those posts. Some of the interesting tidbits are...

The scrapped Disney movie in 2012 called The Order of the Seven (Michael Arndt worked on it):
Order of the Seven had originally been envisioned as a Natalie Portman vehicle. Earlier this year, though, Oscar-nominee Saoirse Ronan( Atonement, Hanna) was set to headline the film as a young 19th century Englishwoman who flees Hong Kong, in order to escape "an ancient evil empress"- and, thereafter, seeks refuge with "seven men belonging to an ancient order dedicated to fighting demons and dragons" (as was to be played by an all-star cast of international martial arts sensations).

Ren=Lotus and Padme=Lotus: The Knights of Padme?

    Seven Samurai

    Other ideas:
    Luke started KOR
    Vader started KOR
    Vader was a KOR
KOR are the "keepers of the Force," and have been around since the beginning
KOR are killing off all FS and Bloodlines
    KOR are Luke's former students.
*Although, I believe PH and an official website have stated that Kylo did kill them.

Sorry, I don't have time to type too much right now, but I really like this discussion and I think it would be interesting if we actually get to see them and their storyline.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I thought I was the only one who kind of hated the Jedi. I thought they were so emotionally inept that they were actually very cruel, but the problem was they were so clueless they didn't know they were being cruel! They were just not real people at all and had no conception of what real people feel. I agree that they were so annoying in the prequels that you really do start to appreciate Palpatine in some messed up way, just because he understood real life ... and you're right vaderito, Palpatine barely needed to do a lick of work to get Anakin because of how the Jedi behaved with him from the beginning. I remember seeing ROTS with my Mom, who is not an invested SW fan by any means, and I remember her saying, "I guess the Emperor is bad with everything else, but at least he seemed like he cared about him [Anakin] and was actually nice to him." So many mistakes were made with Anakin that I could write a ten page post on it, but we all know what they were.

That's why I love the Grey Jedi idea so much, because the Sith/Darksiders are no answer either. They appreciate emotions sure, but they always have to take everything to the most evil, psychotic extremes. I just want people to be real. There's a great storyline complexity in making a forceuser real. That means they constantly have to consult their conscience when using their powers. Does this help the world or not? Should the needs of the galaxy as a whole come first always or should family and friends come first sometimes, because it is family and friends that create the best of life. There should be no easy answers. Life is contextual, and so would Grey Jedi be. I was once told that wisdom is the joining of the rational mind and the emotional mind. To me, Grey Jedi would become the champions of achieving this balance.

so you're saying there's a possibility that Leia cheated on Hana while they were supposed to be happily married? and Han would have had to know about the child if Leia was her mother, even if he wasn't the father. It makes no sense at all...

She didn't have to. Seriously is there people who think Leia had a kid (Rey) for another man? Daisy was in an open interview, stating plain and simple facts, she wasn't being quizzed in an interrogation :p . Nothing in the film suggested she was Han Solos kid anyway.

I really doubt that Leia would not instantly recognise her child and tell her. I recognise people way back from when I was at school and they were children and now they are adults. Its not like Rey had a face transplant.

They were called the "seven shining" in concept art....the shining one is Lucifer....so maybe they are like the seven lords of hell?

Also, in the EU, there are the seven Dark Jedi (who arose after the empire fell) and the leader of the seven is a former inquisitor who hunt for sith artifacts and power nexuses....they may be bringing this concept into canon.

Very interesting and possibly significant. It could have been one of the scenes Rian Johnson requested. Given that they cut the Vader versus Luke lightsaber fight out of the force back and gave the Kylo scenes prominence. There must be something of significance there.

PH debunked that on Twitter. She's not Leia's with a different character. It could only be Han.

Leia is like the nicest person in Star Wars, there is no way in a million years Leia would leave a kid of her own on Jakku, plus both her and Han were more focused on Kylo Ren their son even after finding out that Rey was captured by him. I don't even want to discuss this anymore.

Yep sometimes it is good to have your beliefs questioned. It can shaken them or strengthen them. Now let me explain my oint of vew on this subject. I am in between a casual fan and hardcore fan of star wars. I have seen and loved all the movies [including prequels]. I have NOT seen or read all the Eu though. I have read/seen some, such as the Jedi apprentice novels, the Ki Adi Mundi comics, Shadow of the Empire. But I have NOT seen the clone wars cartoon. [It is on my to-do list, but the idea of sitting through 5 seasons is daunting]. So my knowledge of OB1 is what I got from the main movies. As a fan of him I would want to know from the movie WHY he broke the Jedi code [no love]. Why this grandmother never appeared in the movie. [We did hear a little about Luke/Leia mother in ROTJ by the way. She was mentioned by Leia on Endor. Luke asks about her!] Why OB1 never knew about a child. Or what hapened to said child. Now perhaps the ST will end with Rey meeting her grandmother but as a fan through the movies I would be shocked by this. That they threw this at us. It would go against everything we learned about OB1. As a true Jedi knight. Someone who believed and practised the code. For me I would need an explanation why OB1 had an affair, never met his child and what happened to said child. If you tell me I have to buy a book to find out the reasons then I would consider a money grabbing mve by Disney and would be disappointed ,potentionally enough to stop watching the movies. All I want from a movie is a good, coherent beginning, middle and end. I forgive the dangling threads from TFA because it is the first of the trilogy. But I still want to know how Kylo turned, how Maz got the lightsabre without having to find another source to tell me. I want the answers from the upcoming movies! For me they would need A LOT of time to explain why OB1 broke his oath and why he was never involved in his childs life. Sorry for rambling. I saw a post earlier about all the similararities between Rey and OB1 and I liked it but the more I thought about it the more I questioned it. But who knows... Maybe the filmmakers have been thinking for the last 4 years how to explain this whole situation in as a satisfying and short a way as possible. Thye just NEED a damn good scene to convince me to change my preception of OB1.

P.S. I think she is looking at the old lady that way because she see's what she could become. My viewpoint anyway

A collection of random thoughts today....that i felt motivated to add to the mix.

I did not see it mentioned yet in this thread, so i thought i would -
There is a new series of 'Han Solo' comic books coming out this Summer in the US.
Not sure at what 'time period' in Han's lifetime these new stories are taking place, but it is possible we might get some further insights into his son Ben.
Perhaps a glimpse of Ben's early childhood or teenage years, depending on the time period of the stories being told in the comics.
Just putting that out there for those not aware of the upcoming release, so you can keep a eye out for them.
June will see the first issue released, set between the time of ANH and ESB.

    More info here -
    http://www.theforce.net/story/front/Han_Solo_Comic_Series_Coming_In_June_168187.asp

Something else i have had on my mind....is i am thinking Ben / Kylo Ren may have had a premonition of Rey long before they actually met.
I kind of find appeal in both of them having 'seen' hazy representations of each other in visions or dreams in the past.
Imagine Ben seeing a strange girl in his mind...wondering who she was, and why he kept 'seeing' her in his visions / dreams.
When 'that girl' finally shows up....it's no wonder he is immediately interested in learning more about who she is.
Just something that has been on my mind...after have seen the film again recently on the big screen.

I also wanted to take a moment and add that i hope i have not given the impression of dismissing or negatively criticizing Adam Driver's appearance.
This was not at all my intent...i am actually quite fond of the little native from San Diego who moved to the Midwest and beyond to take the world by storm.
When i speak of his 'unique' features, i hope this is not being interpreted as being 'un-attractive' or 'homely'.
    Far from it.
Others have already put into better words the positive points, and i have posted previously about how his personality is a win.
Just felt a need to clarify as i did not want folks thinking i was knocking his looks.
    Nope.
Remember, this is the Radar Technician who keep telling ya'all to frame those black n' white photos i keep posting!
Did i mention they make fantastic t-shirt graphic designs, too...?
    ;)

I am indeed a member of the Adam Driver fan club.
    Yep.

Something here now for the Kylo /Driver fans -
A short but informative article about Adam's struggle wearing Kylo Ren's costume and mask here :

    http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Why-Adam-Driver-Hates-Kylo-Ren-Mask-100827.html

    Text from the article -

    -----------------------

Adam Driver has a serious task on his hands when it comes to portraying the character of Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Not only does he have to create a character that lives up to the series’ history of badass bad guys, but he also had to express that sort of menace whilst wearing a stifling, cumbersome costume. Despite how awesome the costume looks on screen, apparently Driver was, by his own admission, not exactly a fan of it.

Speaking with Uproxx, Driver, accompanied by fellow Star Wars newcomer Oscar Isaac, explains just how difficult Kylo Ren’s mask made the process of performing:
"To this day, I still don’t know who’s in the movie because I haven’t seen anybody."
We can only imagine the stress that something like this would place on a relatively new actor like Driver. While he has most certainly become a recognizable face with his work in While We’re Young, This Is Where I Leave You, and HBO’s Girls, The Force wakens really makes the first time he has performed in a massive effects driven film with cumbersome costume design. He would go on to liken his struggle as Ren to the Stormtroopers from the original trilogy. Everyone always sees them running around blasting rebels, but no one ever talks about the useless takes where they would speak to walls or be face the completely wrong direction while performing.

Driver would continue to explain that speaking under the muffling mask presented its own challenges. He and Isaac explain that a scene shared by the two actors was their first day on set, and Driver learned very quickly that the voice he had prepared for Kylo Ren wouldn’t really work, so he had to scramble and think of a voice to use while they filmed. This isn’t the first time a mask has presented an issue for an actor in a Star Wars movie; before James Earl Jones’ booming voice was brought in for the legendary Sith, Darth Vader, actor David Prowse spoke the characters’ lines under his mask. Needless to say the effect was somewhat lost on the people working on the set of A New Hope. Check out a video of it below.

Definitely takes away some of the magic of the character doesn’t it? Like when you found out that R2-D2 was just a little person in a sweltering droid costime. Ultimately the struggle seems to have been worth it, as everyone who has already seen The Force Awakens cannot stop praising Driver’s turn as the character. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is currently in theaters, do yourself a favor and check it out!
    ----------------------------------

And here is another article, that i think a lot of folks here can relate to.
The title alone will clue you in -
