ST The Romantic Future of Kylo Ren and Rey

Obi-wan had a canon love during TCW, one he said he would have left the Jedi Order for if she asked:


There were no riots or ridiculous explainations in TCW, it was rather manner of fact and a pretty popular pairing. This is canon. Having either some descendent from her or a new character is not out of the question. It doesn't retcon anything that has not already been addressed.

Also, the same complaint of "too much exposition" can be directly levied at Rey Skywalker, and since it would be Luke having the offscreen romance it would need even more explaining than more secondary character like Obi-wan since Luke was the main hero of the OT.

 

If that's Luke's self-built lightsabre in Ren's hand in the Forceback - does this mean that Luke is currently unarmed and vulnerable on that little island?

And it seemed to me that Luke was glaring at the sabre rather than Rey. That one is definitely Anakin's.

 

Where do you see the narrative for YOUR theory anywhere in TFA? Please I am open minded give me some visual or narrative callbacks or foreshadowing.. Thanks in advance

Wow! I just did! Over 1M views! That's impressive! Congrats to the person who made that video! I may not ship this particular pairing (Like I said, I don't really ship anything anymore - the only SW ship I still personally have is Luke/Mara) but I can definitely see the appeal. It's just I've seen quite a lot of anti-Reylo stuff out there - well ok, only on Tumblr, which speaks for itself - and I wondered how popular it actually was. I must say that these so called "antis" are being grossly unfair and horrible (and that's putting it politely). Why is so hard to just ship and let ship? Anyway keep doing what you're doing guys!

Btw, with the massive popularity that this ship has gained, do you guys think that the writers might change anything? I mean they were clearly pushing for Finn/Rey (well that's what I saw at least) but it seems that Reylo and Finn/Poe has become way more popular.

 

Not as such to be honest. Am a tad frustrated, I really want to vent some anger out and I don't want to do it in public. Am just a little pee'd off so to say. I just wish I had somewhere or someone to speak to about this board - well parts of it. Sigh

 

No callbacks or foreshadowings im afraid. I just tried to come up with a theory that utilised characters that are directly involved in the ST, so no OB1. And I want a good reason why Rey was so powerful with the force so quickly. So I came up with this idea that she was created by Snoke and his dark power, but it almost killed him [explaing his disfigurements]. Also why Snoke targeted Ben. He wants Luke's own kin to destory him. Just my theory. I agree with you it will probably be something completly different. But I do believe it will involve characters DIRECTLY involved in the ST. Not characters dead for over 30 years..

I like it! But we already had it with Anakin and Padme in ROTS. Trying to become powerful to prevent her from dying his actions end up killing her

 

Do people seeing TFA not know who Obi-Wan was?? Who Ben Solo was named after? This is not some obscure character.

 

I agree. Rey is perfect for him in some ways, but not in other ways that another character might be. A good writer can do anything. Also, if Disney decides to "Marvelize" SW, particularly in some comic book or new EU, there would have to be all kinds of different people running through all of these characters lives. In the end there are all kinds of love interests. Kylo and Rey have the epic, high-drama, maybe even "love at first sight" (for Kylo) thing going on. But take a Mulder/Scully type of relationship. No less high-drama at times, but more "best friend" and trust based.

LOL! I just had the craziest thought. We've all kind of assumed that Kelly Marie Tran is going to be with Poe and Finn, and I think she is. But suddenly I envisioned Kylo having a humanizing, dryly humorous assistant who can say things to him that no one else can. I have never seen KMT in anything, but her resume indicates she could this well. Sadly, I don't think Kylo has any normalizing assistant in TFA. He's just entirely too sad to have anybody that close to him.

 

Obi-wan obviously did not leave the order for her, but he would have if she asked. They were as canon in love as Anakin and Padme:

 

Obi Wan is directly calling to Rey in her Forceback. So he is there in TFA speaking to her in the present through the force. I just want Rey to have a meaningful origin, one she could in some way be proud of, the way Luke was proud of Anakin the Jedi

 

Sorry I'm probably being a little dim but what is the relevance of the bridal carry people mention???? I know what it is a man carrying a woman in his arms a la a groom and his bride. But how does it play in the fiction people mention - any examples to look at???

 

Depends really. For new/young audiences they might not know who OB1 is. For Star Wars movies fans like me[seen the movies, not the cartoon] We know who OB1 is but nothing was shown to us to suggest OB1 had a family. On the contrary OB1 was shown to be an outstanding Jedi knight. Trusted with the most challenging missions. It would be hard to explain to us that OB1 broke the code, had a secret family, abandoned them to watch over Luke and never mentioned them to anyone....ever.....not once. So hard to believe that Rey is his grandchild! .For the Die-Hard fans it is highly plausible OB1 got together with a woman and had kids. All depends really how much the viewing audience like Star Wars. It would be a bit unfair on the fans like me and the more casual fans to drop stuff on us that would retcon what we believe in my opinion

no no, sensing his father, whom he already knew is one thing. Suggesting that luke will sense that this girl is a relative of kenobi, while vader, the chosen one, chilled next to his own daughter without sensing her blood relation to him, would be a plot hole. If luke can sense rey's bloodline, then vader should've been able to sense leia's right away.

If I recall correctly, tptb had promoted a lot of things in the time leading upto TFA......Finn being Luke's son; Rey, Finn and Poe being the main three; Kylo possibly being Luke...just to name a few.....so while it is possible the writers change stuff according to audience response, I feel they did consider Rey and Kylo a potential pairing from the start....there are a lot of subtle clues peppered throughout the movie to this end which we keep discussing on this thread....my guess is that they probably don't want to reveal all their cards in the first movie of the trilogy.

 

Yeah. You are right. The whole ForceBack is difficult to explain quite frankly. I think JJ had the idea that at that moment Rey awakened and felt the connection to the Force. Thus she was now able to sense those at one with the Force. But it could be OB1 calling her, who knows. This is what we feared when Lucas left. Different writers/directors=different idea's/interpertations of the force.

 

seeing his descendants would be great, but making one of the leads be related to him would be a stretch imo.

I also didn't see the meaning in the beginning, but most of these monsters are infatuated with the heroine, and the monster is usually in black and the lady in white, like Kylo and Rey, totally monster movie.
