Full Series Captain Rex in Rebels

Same here man. I seriously want to see Commander Cody also. I think I might be the only one that thinks he wouldn't have continued to be an Imperial. I say that he would have felt like he's loyal to the Republic, not the Empire. But do something, a bit more... active than Rex.

 

I would love if they brought in Legends Cody's story, that he stayed with the Empire as a stormtrooper trainer (we know that in Rebels it is a position clones can have, that blond ****wad officer offered it to Rex) it might be too much of a story that wouldn't involve the Ghost crew though.

 

Some Clones got positions as Field Commanders and Special Forces positions also, I could see Cody becoming the leader of the Storm Commandos. But I really want to see him as the leader of a mercenary group. Him, Echo and the Bad Batch. All going across the galaxy as a small merc group.

 

I'm not in disagreement with any of the recent replies to my post. And I'm not sure what fate I would desire for Rex as a character. If he were a real person, I'd wish a long, happy life for him. But as a TCW character, I sometimes think I'd like him to go out in a blaze of glory. Of course, right now I'd just be happy if Disney reworked his look so he looks like he was an elite soldier at one point. Ugh, sorry for harping on that. But they made Ahsoka stunningly beautiful. What the heck happened to Rex, Gregor, and Wolfe?

 

I think it would be be nice if his armour looked a little more like what it did in TCW...a shave wouldn't hurt too much either.

 

It's not Disney that creates how the characters look... It's the crew. If Disney has any role in the creation of the show it's probably setting guidelines for what can and can't be shown.

 

Then how much of the crew changed between TCW and Rebels? Because the style of animation overall looks very different to me.

 

That's the George Lucas budget vs the Disney budget.

 

I would have thought Disney would have more money to put in, since they are a larger company, but becasue it's SW maybe it's a way of making more money by saving more money, cause despite lower quality animation people will watch it cause it's SW.

 

The Clone Wars was Lucas' pet project of sorts, her personally funded it. I've heard that each episode got around the funding of a live action TV show episode. With TFA racking in all sorts of cash, Disney has no excuse not to put more funding into Rebels or heed the cries of people wanting The Clone Wars finished. And think about it this way, if DC/Marvel can pump out animated movies and TV shows constantly on their own, I'm sure Disney can afford to give Lucasfilm Animation some money finish atleast the main episodes that need completion.

Budget. That's the main reason. Most of the crew stayed the same actually. The main creative team from The Clone Wars is still there.

 

And because it's good, obviously.

 

If most of the main crew remains the same, yet the style changed so dramatically, I can't help but think there are influences beyond budget at play. A smaller budget might mean less detail or fewer elements in the animation. But the decision to go from a fairly realistic (note, I say 'fairly ') style of animation to one that is clearly cartoon-like seems to be a conscious stylistic decision. And given that Rebels looks like the last handful of Disney animated productions, I have to wonder if Disney doesn't have advisors on the team. That being said, I'm not knocking Rebels. As I've posted elsewhere, I think it is a decent show. And I'm actually a fan of Disney animation. But keep in mind, I'm only referring to one character (the thread is about Rex, after all). It's hard for me to see my favorite character go from a fantastic look in the clone wars to a horrible look in rebels. Now, as for his character in Rebels, so far so good. Seems to be consistent with TCW.

 

The animation is just a design choice also. They've stated that before. I like it but there is stuff in the show that looks like absolute crap because of the style *cough cough CLONES cough cough*. And the show doesn't look like other I wouldn't say the show looks like other Disney animation (TV atleast) because it's 3D instead of 2D. If you're comparing it to the movies eh they're are some similarities yet very slight. Not to mention Rebels is leagues ahead of all of the ****** cash grabs Disney has been grinding out every year.

 

Oh my gosh, this made me laugh! So, we're agreed the clones look less than appealing. I do hope you get over that cough soon! I was referring to Disney feature-length animation. Tangled and Frozen come to mind. Both are nice bits of animation in and of themselves, just a very different style than TCW. Of course, when I look at Rex, the 7 dwarves come mind.

 

Oh dear. Where's the bleach when you need it? I will never, NEVER be able to unsee that now!

 

Pretty much this. if Disney gave Dave and the crew enough money on the scale of TCW I am sure they would have continued to use season 6 animation, but alas rebels budget is about half of TCW's

 

Rex may finally die soon. It would be nuts if Rex and Ahsoka are killed off by Anakin.

 

In the shower yesterday I had a random thought that maybe Ashoka would make it into the next season by means of Rex sacrificing himself to save her from Vader. I would be super sad to see Rex die and would prefer if he makes it throughout the show. But I can't think of a better way for him to die than saving Ashoka from Vader.

 

Can't happen because Rex does not go to Malachor with the three Jedi so unless Rex dies to spiders he survives this season

 

I dont think so, Disney's crew is too girly for it.

 

Ah. Well thats good news. Hopefully he will make it the whole show then. Though that's probably me just being unrealistically optimistic. But here's hoping.
