Oh, I wouldn't call it a pure retcon either. Just a slight one.

That, and I mostly just wanted to do the play on words.

All it really is is Word of God, and we don't always have to take their word in RR at face value.

That's something I miss about Lucas. He would take time out (not all the time), behind the scenes, to explain some plot points and it's connection to the whole universe.

Pity he couldn't do that more on-film, with his later work that is.

Instead of theorizing and speculating, lets do something else relating to Kanan. Like can we just please celebrate the fact that they found a way to make an Order 66 surivor story be ACUTALLY engaging after all of Legends multipel suriviors .

Kanan's character arc is deviously crafted, as he develops and learns in certain sets of episodes, but they aren't all the same lesson. So I'll show Kanan's development via ARCS of single epiosdes that showcased his development.

He starts of only bringing Ezra on board on a whim, not thinknig things through. (Spark of Rebellion)
He then reluctanly starts training Ezra when he see's his power getting stronger (Droids in Distress)
He only start putting all his effot into training Erza when he confronts and survivies his first duel with the G.Quizzy, realalzing he's the only valid option for Ezra currently. (Rise of the Old Masters)

This is his character arc. The arc of a person becoming a mentor. It's well done, and done in only a few episodes. But getting more indepth with it, this arc allowed us to see's Kanan's more indepth flaws.

For example, Kanan insecruites about basically "pretending" to be a Jedi Master. As a Padawn he saw the Jedi Masters as bounts of wisdom and knowledge, which makes Kanan feel inadquete even trying to train Ezra. Hence when the GQuizzy begins tearing down Kanan's fighting style and skill, it pushes his buttons.

Now let go to the next group of episodes.
Empire Day. Kanan starts off completely and fully as mentor, proving my prior anaylsis. However what Kanan is teaching Ezra seems to be different from what the Jedi taught. Now if you've read the Kanan comic, Kanan's master Depi Billaba seemed a bit more "liberal" for a Jedi (I don't know the rules of invoking political terms, dont kill me,) and pushed Kanan to question things, to think for himself, to be able to change perspectives.

This added context might explain Kanan's method of teaching Ezra here. Instead of abandoning attachments and becoming one through the force by cutting off worldy bonds, Kanan instead suggests TO keep your attachements, and use those attachements to interact with the force. It's a very different philosphy Kanan has now.

    ------------------------------------------------------
Welp, I was hoping to finish this post before bedtime, but school is school, I'll make a PART 2 of this tomrrow starting with Gathering Forces's effects on Kanan.

Dass Jennir is still, out of all canon and legend survivors, the best post-Order 66 Jedi.

Do we know if they have ocular implants in the GFFA, or does Kanan have to make like Visas Marr and Illidan Stormrage now?

Was I the only one who realized that Kanan actually looks pretty similar to Kota? This made him just one step closer. What do you guys think about this decision? With Kanan being one of of my favorite characters on the show, I think it will be cool to see him struggle a little with this setback. Not to mention how this will change the dynamic with Ezra who will probably be more powerful than him next season.

Visible confirmation of Kanan's scarring shown (albeit briefly and not head-on) on screen:

Majority of the Rebels design team worked on TFU series, so don't be surprised of potential similarities between characters.

I hope so. The bandages make him look badass. Like you'll underestimate him for being blind but he'll kick your ass.

Also Kanan's eyes are gone and I don't think they want to show an eyeless man on a TV Y 7 show

    Kanan: OVER THERE!
Ghost Crew rushes over to see. Wondering if Kanan has sensed their destination.
Kanan: That's what it will sound like when one of you spots it. *waves hand in front of face*
