In regards to Pablo's tweet, I started up Dark Forces again, running the first level where Kyle Katarn steals the Death Star plans on Danuta (the Legends EU take on how the Death Star plans were stolen, although I think the PSP game Lethal Alliance and other works retconned Katarn's plans to be a portion of the complete Death Star plans).

In the mission objectives screen for the first level, the mission is titled 'The Death Star Plans - Operation Skyhook: Phase 2'. An odd choice of wording, since this is the very first level of Dark Forces and there is no indication on what 'Operation Skyhook: Phase 1' would have been.

Perhaps the mission in Rogue One was Operation Skyhook: Phase 1. It seems the Dark Forces game already left a story thread open for the full story of the Death Star plan theft, which Rogue One now tells, over 20 years before the release of the film.

By the way, the officer that says "Is that clear?" before Felicity's snarky "Yes sir!" Anybody else thinks the guy looks and sounds like a young Max von Sydow?

They look slightly different because they were filmed on film stock specific to the era - the work flow with film is different today, as well as the cameras used. The video that was linked however was made to look deteriorated.

I don't like it either - but that's why they use that colour grade.

Well, it would be nice to see Kyle Katarn featured again somehow. But I guess Jiang Wen's character, who seems to be a walking armory, may be the closest thing we'll have to Kyle Katarn on the big screen.

 

Ah, screw Kyle. There's only one guy we need.

With such a blatant lack of discipline going on at Luke's Jedi Academy (really Luke, you armed Desann in a training session against Havet even after the talk of Desann's bullying? Were you even aware of that despite your Jedi insight?)--no wonder Kylo got fed up with the Academy.
