1. Han Solo, because it would feel like total shoe-horning

2. Other lightsaber wielders except Vader, for obvious reasons

3. Jyn Erso surviving

1. Imperial ESB and ROJ rank badges like in Rebels for Admiral Konstantine and lieutenants (the rank badges in ANH were just a single "line")
2. Star Destroyers flying in atmospheres (we didn't see this in the OT so there is no reason for Rogue One to show this now)
3. crashed vehicles everywhere (after TFA and Star Wars Battlefront it's really gotten stale for me)
4. Imperial interior sets that fit the design language of ESB and ROJ but not the unique one of ANH (yet will probably appear as hinted in this "TFA" Verizon trailer)

I'm afraid all of those four will be seen in Rogue One, more or less. TFA and Battlefront have basically set a new standard for what Star Wars is "supposed to look like".

 

Unnecessary ''jabs'' at the prequels just to appease a certain group of people there.

From what I read and learned thus far, I think such concerns are unwarranted. Regarding my concerns, however, I'm afraid Jonipoon is right, unless Gareth Edwards was free to ignore such restrictions.

What makes you think that?

So far, I haven't seen anything to indicate she's force-sensitve, and I hope she isn't. I'd really like to see a main protagonist in a SW film who does not use the force. We get enough of that in the main films. This is a chance to showcase a different kind of hero.

It would definitely annoy me if the whole attitude and style of the Empire is different than what we see in ANH or the OT in general. But I could probably tolerate a lot of that. I'm not worried about the Rebellion, based on the trailer they look pretty spot-on to me, which is very cool. The only thing I'd hate to see in Rogue One is anything that doesn't really jive with the account of how the Death Star plans were stolen in ANH. I mean, Admiral Motti refers to the plans as "stolen datatapes" in ANH, and now I'm curious how that's gonna work out for continuity's sake in Rogue One. This may sound hopelessly weird and nit-picky, but I really would like to see the plans on some kind of "tape" format (holo-cassette? Star Wars data-reel-to-reel?) to at least make what Motti said make sense, but that throw-away reference was from the '70s, canon though it may be, and I'm afraid I don't see "tapes" popping up in a sci-fi movie in 2016.

 

Just based on trailer speculation it looks like they're going to at least take a stab at it. We see Jyn running around with something that many have speculated are the plans in some way, shape, or form. It certainly isn't equivalent to what we'd use in the real world.

I want the Rogues to have a chance to show some thrilling heroics and noble self-sacrifice, but not in any way that takes away from the original movie heroes.

Would you care to elaborate? I'm a continuity freak, perhaps spent too much lifetime with the OT and would like Rogue One to give me a unique "previously before Star Wars" feel.

 

Cardboard characterizations. I'm all in with the on point serials style dialog, but since this isn't a comedic spoof of people and beings on a mission, I'd like more meat and potatoes in these characters.

The whole movie relies on us giving a damn about Jyn. Everything else can be forgiven. But if we don't like her, it all falls flat.

 

Good point, but I'd expand that to: us giving a damn about Jyn's entire unit and the rebellion.

 

Okay, a fear because it's a common movie Meme... Jyn's band of badasses all get killed right at the start of their mission, leaving her to fight on alone.
