Realistically, not every Star wars story ever NEEDS to include gay characters (I wouldn't care if they did), but the past, what, four novels have? I think they're just setting a new expectation going forward and trying to really establish that LGBTQ foothold in the GFFA. Which is great.

Hearing that Bloodlines continues the new canon trend of LGBT inclusion is pretty great. I was already excited for the book, but that's just icing on the cake. I really liked Gray's casual inclusion of LGBT issues in Lost Stars even if there wasn't an explicitly gay character (maybe Jude subtextually?). I'm still waiting on a gay main character allowed to be gay with someone, as opposed to single (see: Sinjir) or widowed (see: Moff Mors)... but, given the rate of LGBT representation in the books right now, I don't think I'll have to wait that long.

 

Judging by what Chuck Wendig has said on Twitter, you won't.

I actually didn't see as much LGBT inclusion in Bloodline, although it's there if you look for it.

There's one mention of a characters' mothers, and I think it's heavily implied one of the characters is bi but I need to ask Claudia Gray for confirmation after the book comes out. At the very least, she's noting that same-sex attraction exists. There's also a mention of a group that includes multiple species and at least four genders. But of the main characters, nothing is explicit about them being LGBT.

Aliens completely and easily falling into categories we can understand? Not likely imo.

 

FS - Trek's been doing that for years in the books and it was a major plot strand for them 2000-2014!

Who are the aliens? Answer's in my prior post, I don't think it could be a spoiler in any real sense but as Jello's taking no chances with the ban-laser.....

I kind of doubt it. My guess is that Anakin Skywalker is still known as the hero of the Clone Wars.

 

I think it might be common knowledge he is Vader. If people know Vader is Leia's father and Luke is her brother, and his last name is Skywalker, it only stands to reason that senators of all people would figure it out.
