ST Luke's Other Students/Did all the Jedi really die?

I've been thinking...

One of the things that really disappointed me with TFA was the lack of Jedi in this time period. Considering also how Lor San Tekka talked about how "Without the Jedi, there can be no balance to the Force"- well he's clearly talking about the return of the Jedi as they where in the old days, but given this storyline it seems that it won't happen anytime soon .

Except if...

We all know from Bloodline, that the events of the Academy massacre happen about 6 years prior to TFA. This means then that Luke had 23 years or so to train Jedi, and it's very possible that (dare I say likely) that he could have trained several Jedi prior to taking care of Kylo. This means then that there could have been Jedi that were not present when the Academy was slaughtered and Ben's peers killed.

Now here is the speculation part:

Could some of Luke's students have gone into some remote corner of the galaxy and train other Jedi?? And could this "New New Jedi Order" factor into helping our heroes in either 8 or 9?

Luke being the last of the Jedi 30 years after RotJ is annoying enough so I'm hoping some survived and are in hiding and then they come back for the grand finale. There has to be a point for a new trilogy instead of telling the same story as before.

 

I think they are all dead..... though I do also think its possible that Rey was meant to go to Luke's Jedi club but something happened leaving her on Jakku so she never got there...

I thing there has to be other survivors from the massacre. We only see Luke at the end, but how does Kylo Ren and his knights wipeout all of the Jedi? Luke is not going to sit around for Ben to be born, he is going to rebuild the Jedi order. I think he would have a couple fully trained Jedi before Ben starts his training. Luke also has 3 three force ghosts to guide him, maybe four.

 

Well the opening crawl did say Luke was the last Jedi. So I suppose everyone else is dead.

 

Or did Snoke claim others as his own? What do we know about the Knights of Ren? Were they already in place at the time of the massacre or could have some of them defected when Ben Solo did?

 

If this is indeed a fair question--which depends upon the interpretation of the text crawl for TFA being from the perspective of an omniscient narrator or rather merely representative of commonly held galactic belief--then it would also apply to post-"jedi purge"/Order 66.

I think this is a valid question with regard to any of Luke's students--might had some (or all) of them lost faith in Luke?

 

This, and because they stated this anything else is irrelevant and would feel misleading and forced if out of nowhere Luke says "I know of one apprentice that got away". Super cheesy.

 

That, and the fact that Snoke says so, too. If there were any others out there, then I'm sure Snoke and Kylo would sense them — like they did with Rey.

Luke could be oblivious to their existence.

 

There is a chance that there could be a padawan here and there.

 

While there may be room for other force-sensitive characters in the latter two films of trilogy (like Leia in the OT), I doubt that they will be a) important to the plot, b) surviving students from Luke.

The whole point was that Ben killed the students. I guess some students may have turned to the Dark Side with Ben and became Ben's knights (aka Knigths of Rey, I mean Ren)

 

It would seem that Luke is the last Jedi. I wonder if there are any other light side force organizations active in the Galaxy at this point in time.

 

It's possible. As long as they don't use the Force, they could hide out in the outer rim or something.

 

Well .. if the rumours end up being right, they sort of are in VII - from a certain point of view

That's the nail on the head, from the point of view of the narrator of the opening crawl Luke is the last Jedi. But we know that technically isn't true, if the last Jedi of the OT is considered to be Yoda, Obi-Wan and Anakin then you have to count Ben. So we are being told something that is solely the point of view of someone who doesn't know the full facts or dismisses it as being not important enough in the story to give it any credence.

From what is known :-

Known fully trained Jedi
Luke Skywalker

Known Jedi apprentice(s)
Ben Solo/Kylo Ren

Possible received some Jedi training
Leia Organa
Kelly Marie Tran's character


Add to that some of the Knights of Ren and even Snoke might be former Jedi.

 

Good points. The enemy may have former Jedi in their ranks, and there are probably quite a few force sensitives/force users that have some training or are skilled enough to be useful for either side, depending on who gets to them first.

 

It is a possibility that Snoke was one of Luke's first students.

 

True, and hopefully we will find out more in time. Snoke is pretty intriguing and I would like to know more about him and what he has been through.
