I think he's going to play a significant in the upcoming films. It's heavily implied in RotJ that he survived the destruction of the sail barge. It's even more likely when you consider the subtle references to him that exist in TFA. Opinions?
I remember someone posting that Lucas once said (at a convention) that everybody who was still aboard Jabba's sailing barge died. That would include the little muppett critter.
But that's not cannon anymore. Disney is making a Salacious Crumb trilogy after Ep. IX. I hear kermit is up for the part.
I'm really getting concerned here, I guess you're all having a good laugh at my expense, right? Does the Character Encyclopedia tell us how they escaped?
Nope - just that, after the Jabba's Palace incident, the band ended up splitting up - with Sy not doing as well as a solo artist as she did with the band.
Just a quick but simple observation: Only Max Rebo was aboard Jabba's sailing barge. In the scene where they all move to the starboard side to see the "show", he remains in the back sitting on his Instrument - alone!. Anybody claiming Droopy McCool (the walking potato) or Sy Snootles (the singing lemon) were aboard, too, better comes up with some solid evidence. As it appears this Character "Encyclopedia" is unreliable, if it first claims the entire band was aboard and second that they all *somehow* survived.
Not at all. I adore the Max Rebo Band, and I've been worried about their survival ever since I realized Tales From Jabba's Palace was no longer canon. I don't believe she's visible in the final film, but Sy was apparently there during filming. As for how they escaped, the Tales book says they slipped out and jumped into the sand before the explosion. Yeah it's kind of ridiculous, but if it keeps them alive I'm all for it.
What references are those? In my head-canon, Salacious Crumb survives (so does the Max Rebo band). Salacious probably went on to become a professional heckler at stand-up shows on Coruscant
Interesting picture, but it's still a studio set in the UK and the singing lemon might have just been brought in for the occasion to take snap shots. Since I didn't (a) see and (b) hear her signing on Jabba's barge in the final film, it's fair to assume she wasn't there. So Bossk and Dengar were probably rescuing Max Rebo before things got out of hand?
Well, that was to be expected. Max Rebo and Sy were like the Lennon and McCartney of the band. The way they managed to compete yet still cooperate with each other is what made their band so great. Without that Sy was nothing. Sy was full of herself to believe she could make it on her own. She paid the price for her arrogance and ended up being relegated to opening for groups like the Modal Nodes in cantina gigs. What a waste of talent.
