Spoiler While I suspect this was mostly flippant, I actually have wondered whether there's any possibility that this novel will canonize the seemingly-widespread headcanon that Ahsoka is bi. Dunno if this should be spoilered or not.
Spoiler It's not entirely out of the realm of possibility--the author is bi, after all, and probably shares that headcanon from what I've seen.
I've found this review. It's short but it contains few spoilers. https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews/ek-johnston/ahsoka/ Spoiler She is a Togruta who managed to survive the aftermath of Order 66, the Empire’s plan to eradicate all the Jedi. Ahsoka is forced to hide on planets in the Outer Rim, so as to not attract attention while she tries to reconcile her new fate without the guidance of her former master, Anakin Skywalker. As a Padawan left without counsel, Ahsoka must rely on her Jedi training to keep her true identity a secret. Taking on a new name, Ashla, she finds refuge and work as a mechanic on the farming moon of Raada. After the Empire makes a surprise visit in an attempt to occupy the moon, a failed resistance plan by farmers incites an Imperial attack on Ahsoka’s new friends, and she is forced to openly use her Jedi powers to temporarily save them. Now that the Empire is aware that there is indeed a Jedi still alive in the galaxy, they spare no expense to find her.
So is this going to be just ONE story in a single part of Ahsoka's life post ROTS (which I'd prefer) Or is it going to keep jumping forward through the timeline until we come to rebels (Lost Stars)
No idea. But I'd like to see what happened in the last months of the Clone Wars. EDIT: No, it won't adapt any unused TCW scripts. https://twitter.com/Leonalrey/status/736376757364785154
Well, I might skip this. I was hoping for some info on the unused arcs, and I was also hoping we'd be seeing more of Nix Okami given the focus that was put on him at Celebration.
It was never advertised as adapting the unused arcs in the first place. If they're ever released, it'll likely be in a different way.
I'm not saying it was directly adapting. I would have liked it to pick up some of those threads though. Would have been interesting if she'd had gone to Nix post order 66 and become a smuggler for a bit.
They said that information about the events of TCW would be mentioned so that it can be inferred. From what I understand anyway.
I think this will be a pretty good read. I just wonder who the familiar Allies will be that were mentioned? I am almost certain 1 will be Rex, but I am wondering who the other's will be?
I doubt Anakin would be among them; nor any other Jedi for that matter. I'd love to see her get reacquainted with Saw in advance of Rogue One, but I doubt that would be a possibility. Probably Lux.
Won’t Anakin be Vader? I was under the impression that this book took place post order 66. An interaction between Saw and Ahsoka would be cool. Defiantly want to see Rex. I could go for Ahsoka having a chance run in with Obi-wan at a Tatooine bar.
Why not Saw? The possibility exists that in Rogue One someone tells Saw abput Ahsoka's death and this causes him to put aside his differences with the Rebellion and join the mission. I'm not saying they'll do it but the possibility exists. I was going to say Bail Organa. He has to make some appearance here. Barriss Offee. So many things you could do with her and she's essentially a clean slate post ROTS. Weirdest idea would be to make her a Senator and have her give talks to the Senate. You could have her having to hide from capture and the problems of her as a Jedi making the situation worse.
It would certainly make me very happy if Saw gives any mention - no matter how minor - of Ahsoka in Rogue One. The more you think about it, he really didn't have any significant interaction with the Jedi except for her. Jeez, even something subtle like: Jyn: I've heard so much about the Jedi. The keepers of peace for the entire galaxy for generations. Saw: Yeah, they were a special bunch (he says with a grin). Jyn: You talk as if you've met them. Saw: The Republic sent a few of them with Clones to assist us on Onderon. Two of them left after the first day, but one, a female Togrutan, stayed with us until we took back our planet. I was actually going to mention Barriss, but I just think having her in the book would only open a whole new can of worms. That is, unless they'd plan on giving her character closure in the book.
Interesting tidbit that I found. Nothing too spoilery, I think. Spoiler Ahsoka has green lightsabers. That's interesting, so I guess that means she got her white lightsabers sometime between this novel and Rebels.
Another possibility is: Spoiler She changes her lightsabers during the novel. Does anyone know the time frame of the novel? What I mean is does it take place over a few days, a few weeks, 10 years?
I think it may incorporate a little of both? It will start off after events of order 66 and I believe it will progress up to the time she becomes Fulcrum on Season 1 of Rebels. It is 15 years or so.
The novel isn't covering the entire gap between TCW and Rebels, timeframe is pretty much the first few months after Order 66. I've got a friend who got their hands on an advance copy, here's some excerpts: Spoiler In regards to the second one:
This book is sounding promising! I especially like the look at what was going through her head about Barriss, it seems like the author is indeed going for something more complicated than the kind of shallow Jedi-bashing narrative this could easily have turned into like so many fanfics. "Estranged, flawed family, but still family in the end, who are now dead" as opposed to "this story is characterizing them as literally the devil and the audience is invited to dance on their graves." I'll be watching the calendar a bit more closely after this.
Are you kidding? Covering the entire thing in one book would be stupid. More specifically, it's in 18 BBY.
One five hundred-plus page book. Plus, it's what the original blurb sold it as: Now it's sounding more like this is either actually more along the lines of Ahsoka's Kenobi - which is hardly a bad thing, but not what was advertised - or she'll be joining up with Bail awfully soon after ROTS.
