I could sworn in the film, right after this moment when she turns around after "hearing her younger self" , she had tears down her face.

 

Her face tells enough already, there is no need for actual tears. BTW, very good acting for someone who never had worked in a movie.

 

If a good friend of mine decided to leave and possibly never come back, I'd more than likely point and laugh tear up too.

 

I'm a real man. I don't cry.

 

At least one of those statements isn't true.

The Finn's Story novelization of TFA hit store today. I compiled a few quotes relevant to the thread (interesting bits bolded):

(Incidentally, the book strongly suggests that Finn is not Force-sensitive. We also learn that he didn't realize the lightsaber Maz gave him was a ligthsaber until she told him it was a weapon. The book also ties into Before the Awakening.)
