I think he became one of my favourite characters out of all the films.

I missed Movember, but maybe I'll honour his legacy next year, even in January.

I disliked him from the beginning when he killed an unarmed informer. Liked him later a little more when he helped Jyn, but far from really caring for him. He was a killer.

of course he was a killer. He did many bad things because of orders and for the Rebellion. There always are people like Cassian. But he was still able to sacrifice his own life and to trust and to believe. I've never thought I'd see such a complex character in Rouge One, definitely my favourite.

Stay away from Game of Thrones. You don't handle gray characters well.

I think the Rebellion had many killers to be honest. When you are attempting a coup you will take any and all volunteers.

Pretty much this. I mean this is how Saw got his entire faction of terrorists and extremists.

I loved Cassian's moral ambiguity, it's something we haven't seen in the movie heroes before. Han and Lando had their gray moments, but seemed less tortured about them. Definitely one of Rogue One's best surprises.

I'm just glad he's not a wimp like Finn.

Technically Bodhi Rook would be Finn's counterpart.

But I loved how pissed off, deadly and confrontational Cassian was. Excellent character.

I think out of all the new R1 characters (and this is only after my first viewing, so my opinion could change), Cassian was my favorite.
    Finn's not a wimp.

Remember how the informant keeps referring to his injured arm ? In rhe Novel, Cassian realises that the guy would probably get captured and break under interrogation before being executed anyway, so in his mind, his act of murder is an act of mercy .

Prior to seeing the film, I was under the impression that Cassian and K-2SO were going to betray the Rogue One team, given that Cassian had reprogrammed the droid, and surely he could change him back to Imperial programming. His killing of the informant in his first scene seemed to imply that, but when Cassian never did betray anyone, the reason for that scene lost its worth to me. Yes, it illustrates that he will go to any length to defend the Alliance, but the tone of that scene never quite jived for me. It made the first act more erratic, and I would have preferred seeing him by K-2's side when Jyn is rescued.

He used the "Fulcrum" alias in Rebels at one point. The rumors that his last name were "Willix" instead of "Andor" actually turn out to be partially true; he uses the alias Willix on one mission. When he mentions he fought since he was six years old? He fought in a Separatist-aligned militia.

That is what I liked best about him. He was a spy and he had to play dirty, because the threat of the Empire called for desperate, morally dubious methods. That made Andor one of the most realistic characters the franchise has produced, he was great.

26 years old, full name "Cassian Jeron Andor," born on Fest.

Oh. And he keeps a suicide pill in his jacket.

Should he have killed Jyn at the end to give her a quick death?

    ?

    What is your point?

I'm quoting the book. Argue with Chris Weitz.

I'm not arguing, I'm legitimately asking.

Like, for everyone's opinion. Would it have been less painful to shoot Jyn and himself rather than wait for the explosion?

Dunno. Surviving an explosion like that maimed and dying hours and days later .. sure. I'd do it myself.

They were toast and since Jyn wasn't going to spill the bean on anyone before dying AND well .. Cassian was possible a slightly different character to the dude at the beginning, I guess it worked out as it did.

Baze btw - did the honorable "Borormir" thing and killed himself after realising that his only means of escape was blown up.

I honestly had no problem with Cassian's character arc - he was an intelligence officer after all (and his superior, General Draven or whatever) seemed to be equally dodgy compared to the golden halo worn by Mon Mothma and friends.

All in all, it was a very different film with respect to how it handled morality, and for that reason, I would be very hesitant to take young kids to see it.

Great character. I'd describe him as a man's man.
