One of my favorite moments. The blast is so powerful the debris escapes the atmosphere. Just following Krennic's great "Oh, it's beautiful" line.

something I noticed Rogue One is the only live action Star Wars movie to not end with a musical montage! it ends with Leia saying "Hope" and a shot of her ship going to hyperspace and it's over

Great catch. That was kinda so blatantly obvious but I did not even mentally reconcile it.

i knew from the spoilers it would happen....even still i thought on jeddha that jyn shot k-2 by mistake rather then the actual imperial droid.

One of the times Chirrut was praying and then said something about Baze knowing that the Force could open their cell.

Two scenes I liked a lot...

The scene where Krennic is in the tower on Scarif, and witnesses the explosions taking place. He turns around and everyone is just waiting for him to say something, or give orders. It just further highlighted that old "stormtrooper" curse, that the Empire is doomed because their officers and army kinda suck. LOL

Also, I was taken aback by how the plans for the Deathstar (on the white and gold "floppy disk" thing) were so close to being snatched back by Vader. I mean he was literally 2 seconds away from getting them back. The guy just barely gets the disc to another dude on the other side of the stuck door, and is immediately impaled by Vader's lightsaber. The whole situation just looked so desperate.

Man, that moment is amazing. It is a moment that captures the Empire so perfectly. Such a disgusting moment of pure devastation being praised like it's a priceless painting they've just created.

Loved Jyn's mum pulling a scout trooper blaster on Krennic. Always has been my blaster of choice....

Is Chirrut's full line really, "Are you kidding me? I'm blind!"? I've only seen it once so far and I guess maybe the last part was drowned out by laughter. I'm just wondering because everyone quoting it has included that and I find it a lot funnier without him flat out explaining the gag. It's just a small nitpick I guess, but I laughed so hard at the blind guy just saying, "Are you kidding me?" to having his head covered that it's a little disappointing to me if he actually said, "I'm blind," at the end.

Anyway, favorite bits. Slightly ironically, I'm going to go with Krennic's brief pause after the explosions and then shouting, "Are we blind?? Deploy the garrison!" He had a lot of good moments. Also, I have to give a shout out to the poor rebel trooper who runs out from cover saying, "I'm going for it!" only to be shot immediately. My reaction was kind of a knee jerk, "Ha!" that trailed off into, "Aw..."

I really got the impression that when the Death Star fired on Scarif, the blast and debris was heading straighgt for the Death star and would have prompted a resounding GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!

Not in the movie, but the rear shot of Krennic walking through the water toward flaming wreckage with his cape skimming the water is one of the most striking Star Wars images I've ever seen.

No one mentioned this K2 line (kind of paraphrasing here for all these lines because I don't remember them all exactly)

"I find that response vague and unconvincing"

    Other lines:

"Are you blind?!" (My brother said there were moments where Krennic reminded him of Jonathan Pryce in Tomorrow Never Dies whenever he got into moments like this that could be seen as silly by some but to me walked the fine line of being an Imperial commander but also someone who's mad and insane that makes him standout in comparison to Tarkin who's calm and confident. Also Jonathan Pryce would have been an alternate good choice for Krennic or even should have a role in Star Wars).

"Who are you?!" (Shows how little Jyn means to Krennic in the grand scheme of things like when he labels her as "It". All she's wanted was her revenge and he remains unaware until the end. Some might say that's an issue because the villain and heroine don't have much of a conflict until the end and the villain doesn't even know her but I thought it was okay)

"Are you kidding me? I'm blind."

"I am one with the Force the Force is with me" (while I liked Chirrut's use of it I actually liked it best when Baze says it as he plows through the Troopers because it completes his arc)

"Goodbye" (Perfect end for K2 who was my favourite character in the film and I get the feeling he'll be a fan favourite for sure and will be the breakout character)

"Be careful not to choke on your aspirations Director (Some have criticized this line but honestly it to me feels sort of like this film's answer to "I find your lack of faith disturbing." Vader is willing to screw with his subordinates if they annoy him because he can)

"So am I still on the project?" (Really shows Krennic's vulnerability and how desperate he is to gain approval and attention. He's almost like a kid who's trying to gain favour over their brother or sister but never can)

"You may fire when ready (Out of all the old shoutouts this one was my favourite both because I actually smiled when Tarkin said it and it still makes sense in the context of the film and isn't just there because it was in Episode IV)

"Rogue One. May The Force Be With You"

"Good luck little sister" (Might be the only time Baze and Jyn have much of an exchange that while I wanted more it was a nice little moment that you'll miss if you aren't paying attention. There are more lines like that that probably require repeat viewings in order to catch them)

"Congratulations you're being rescued. Please do not resist"

"I will follow you. Cassian said I had too"

"What are you doing?" "Oh I'm... oh whatever" *K2 proceeds to take town Storm Troopers like a badass* (Felt very much like a fun meta joke on the "Everything's fine" scene from Episode IV. They would do that some times where they are about to start the obligatory OT reference but then they are cut off like with K2's "I have a bad feeling..." and then Jyn's "Shut up." What?" K2 responds.

"You are filled with continuing surprises Jyn Erso" (Nice final moment for these two and helps have the two come to an understanding finally and end on good terms)

    Scenes:

Krennic and Tarkin (While I was taken out of the Tarkin scenes at first because of CG Peter Cushing I think if I saw it again I would like them better since I know now what I'm getting into. I still don't care for the CG Tarkin but at least now I won't be missing dialogue because I was kind of missing some stuff if only because I was trying to see where the fault was in the look rather than just accept what I'm seeing because again I was confused by it at first).

The entire Battle of Scarrif (While I'm sure it was reworked and there are points now you can tell I still thought it was a great climax showcasing both sides of the Rebellion the ground assault and the space assault efficiently much like the OT did while I felt Force Awakens didn't really do that and was a weaker climax. This was some of the best battles I've seen and most fun I've had in a climax in awhile which in this day and age of blockbusters where the "wow" factor is harder to maintain is impressive.

Vader scenes (While he's part of the great climax he kind of deserves his own spot since it becomes essentially A New Hope once Jyn and Cassian die that's where Rogue One ends)

Deaths of the Rogue One Team (All of them have their great moment and die in a pretty sad matter particularly K2 as I said and Chirrut and Baze especially since Baze looks over at Chirrut's dead corpse and willing stands there as he is blown up and killed so he can be with his friend again).

The final destruction of Scarrif/Deaths of Jyn, Cassian and Krennic (This was a great scene that was beautifully shot. While I didn't care for Jyn as a character and Felicity's performance and I thought Cassian was a bit better and felt Diego was a bit more charismatic then some people are giving him credit for I do think Jyn's silent moments are her best moments kind of like Rey and this was no exception. The way the oncoming explosion looks like the sun is setting as the two lay on the beach together feeling tired but victorious that they've won yet know they won't make it out in time so they decide to lay together as the explosion comes towards them and then share one final hug as a sign of their relationship coming full circle and they are then engulfed in the blast. All this is done without any unnecessary romance either or an out of nowhere kiss. It's a nice believable friendship that is built upon by not caring or trusting each other at first before finally they learn to do so. Krennic's death was also a ironic end in that he could have easily died from the blaster wound but having him get up one final time to see his creation come and be his final end was a good visual moment. Tragic irony or poetic justice? You tell me. It reminded me of Alexander Pierce's final moments in Winter Soldier all he was missing was his equivalent of Pierce's final "Hail Hydra")

Again like the lines there are more scenes out there it's just hard to remember them all at this moment in time.

As well as a crashed X-wing in Jedha city, there's also a wide shot of the city with a crashed TIE fighter. I liked that, made the whole place seem larger.

I also really like that shot of the AT-ST coming down the street firing, they absolutely nailed its movement from ROTJ.

I thought this was a good chuckle...when the Troopers are telling Chirrut to stop:

“He’s blind,” a second trooper called.
“Is he deaf?” the squad leader asked. “I said: Stop right there!”

Which mirrors the whole situation that this movie portrays! The Alliance Council, when debating the information from Jyn about the weakness built in to the Death Star - and their doubts that it's even real and not just an Imperial trap - more than one Council member was suggesting an end of the Rebellion in the face of the power of the Death Star.

The Rebellion was literally on it's last threads during this film, and Vader coming that close to getting the plans back was a perfect mirror to that desperation shown at that Council meeting.

All that said and done, and we still have ANH with some of the lingering doubts on whether the weakness even exists!

"I only hope that when the data's analyzed a weakness can be found." - Leia

Scarey thing though... the Alliance is in desperation mode that deep... yet the Battle of Scarif was only their FIRST ever Victory (as we know from the opening scroll of ANH)!

Favorite scenes, in no particular order:

Chirrut knocking down stormtroopers with his stick.
The two Star Destroyers crashing and taking out the shield.
    Vader's rampage.
The Death Star devastating the surfaces of Jedha and Scarif.
Anything with Tarkin in it, even if his skin did look plasticky at times.

I read online that the rebel who Vader levitates towards the ceiling gets cut in half moments afterward. I'm gonna have to pay attention to this scene in a future viewing to see if that author wasn't just seeing things

Agreed. I love how the camera very, very slowly pans up to the Death Star. Also, the following scene of Krennic, Tarkin and the Imperial officers silently processing what they just did, while the score goes dead quiet.

Just a smell correction, though. The image above occurs immediately after the U-wing jumps to hyperspace, not after Krennic's "it's beautiful" line.
