The Juggernaut/Turbo Tank, used again in Rogue One as Jyn's prisoner transport. It was a nice surprise to see it on screen.

I may have jumped in my seat when I realized that there was a Juggernaut on screen. Again.

Yeah that was the best easter egg for me. It fits perfectly to see old GAR tech on backwater worlds. They worked the reference into a genuinely good way to show what that world was like and the state of the galaxy.

On another random note, from looking at the sample pages posted on TF.N Baze's BFG is manufactured by the Morellian Weapons Conglomerate, known in WEG for producing the Enforcer slugthrower pistol.

Not to digress...but this is something I would like to see in Rebels. They go to a meeting on a really remote world and there is a Victory SD or Dreadnaught as the imperial presence and they launch V-19s or V-Wings at them.

Hera or Kanan makes a comment about the Empire using older ships and such on remote places.

I was browsing through the Guide for the first time at Barnes & Noble tonight. Something caught my eye, because I just re-read "Interlude At Darkknell" for the first time in 15 years...But apparently Cassian has been retconned as Aach, Bail Organa's (apparent?) aide that saves Bel Iblis after the explosion that kills his wife and child on Anchoron. It even mentions Darkknell, but misspells it as "Darknell."

Assuming the surrounding story is now canon -- or re-canonized in the future -- that would probably place Cassian on Anchoron just before he heads to the Ring of Kafrene.

One should never assume an old Legends prose story will be 're-canonized', but general concepts and ideas from thise stories are regularly being reintroduced. IE, Dark Lord will never be recanonized, although general events first told in that story apparantly did happen in some forms.

An homage to former storytelling doesn't mean the whole container, or even huge parts of it, are now canon.

I'm reading Darkknell for the first time, coincidentally. And it's not compatible with R1. It's still fun to read that Legends story and picture Diego Luna working with Iblis!

Yeah, references are just references but I appreciate them nonetheless.

Although the notion of an Atrisian pilot flying for the Alliance.... well, I guess every planet has its black sheep. After all, even some Coruscanti were led astray.

I continue to wonder why Corellia gets so few mentions in the NEU. I can only guess they are saying all the cool Corellia stuff for the Han Solo movie.

Of course, there's really no reason why Cassian Andor can't have also existed in the Legends timeline.

That would be great! Nothing like seeing a mismatch of different era's tech. Would love to see an Eta-2 on screen again or on rebels.

Yeah I was just talking about this. Corellia is super important to the rebel fleet after all and has always been the republic's backbone. Hopfully wedge and Han start getting a focus and that gets corellia more apperences. It has always been one of my favourite Star Wars planets and groups

Well let's hope Corellia isn't going to cause trouble for the galaxy, i.e. Thracken Sal-Solo, Centerpoint Station.

Got it for Christmas, yeah! My skimming of the TFA Visual dictionary in the book store had left me apprehensive of the new visual guides, but I'm glad the positive reviews in this thread got me to change my mind. Some observations:

    • Big news for the timeline: "The Force has existed as a recorded concept in the galaxy for well over 25,000 years". As far as I know, prior to this the oldest date we'd been given in the New Canon was 5,000 BBY
    • The Jedha page mentioned that it became obscure as older hyperspace routes fell out of favor. But from the maps it appears to be on the edge of the Unknown Regions, so what kind of routes were headed that way anyways? Maybe early galactic explorers just stuck a toe in the Unknown Regions, then stopped for whatever reason (hyperspace anomalies, wars, ect.) and so explorers no longer made pit stops at Jedha before going deeper into the region.
    • I noticed that vehicle lengths, weights, and speeds, in addition to being given in metric units, were given in imperial units (pun not intended). I don't care a bit about real world debates over the metric system vs imperial, but I am wondering if that means imperial units are sometimes used in universe.
    • On the Two Tubes page, it says that Tognaths have some evolutionary ancestry to Kel Dor and Gand. This seems like a major mistep to me. Normally I'm all in favor of similar looking alien races being retconned into subspecies (it makes the universe tidier), but this seems like a huge stretch. I can see maybe a resemblance to Gand, but Kel Dor? Is the idea that some alien races evolved to breathe a gas other than oxygen so unbelievable to the writers that they felt the need to say they were related? At that point you might as well add some Skakoan and Vulptereen in there.

Question, is the other visual Guides for the first six films still considered cannon?

Are you sure? Don't see why they wouldn't be, especially since TFA's is almost identical to the PT ones, at least.

Someone tweeted to Hidalgo, "does that mean Qui-gon's apprentice xanatos is csnon? From the Episode 1 visual guide?" and Hidalgo responded, "The Episode I guide hasn't been revisited since 2012 so no."
