Full Series Star Wars Rebels Season 3 Discussion (Spoilers Allowed)

Best! Thing! Ever!

 

I know this is Rebels art style ...
But this saber just too thin...

 

My intial thought was Jump Troopers http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_jumptrooper
A counter point could be seeing as they are on Geonosis, they might just be wearing breathing gear, in case of lingering toxins

 

So did anyone else wonder who that guy with the helmet being arrested by Thrawn is? Kallus?

Could be I agree. Personally I would like it to be Rook Kast as it always made sense aesthetics wise with Sabine's gear and part of her look. It would be a nice family connection and one that actually makes sense for the most part - and a connection to Darth Maul. The color pattern change is interesting if the case. What is it yellow and steel or gray? The leather belt reminds me a little of Savage's belt...




...perhaps also along with yellow coloring and gray outfit he wore and Maul wears now. Some of Maul's Death Watchmen patterned themselves after Savage's tattoos and colors in SOD.

 

That would be infuriating.

 

Okay so I've managed to calm down now, so here are my thoughts.
-The Death Troopers!!!!
-Thrawn is buff!
-Obi-Wan vs Maul, unlike others in super excited for this!!!
-The whole Rebel fleet and Mon Mothma. Also that is totally Cassian!
-The Empire seems to have found the Rebel base on Atollon, I'm really worried for them.
-Tie Defenders!!!
-And of course, Sabine with the Darksaber is the best thing ever, I'm so excited for the Mandalore stuff and that's got to be Rook Kast. I'm glad to see more of Fenn Rau and a major antagonist for Sabine with Gar Saxon.

I'm extremely hyped for Saw and Geonosis this weekend and I can't wait to see how everything in this trailer plays out!

 

I'd prefer Lars off Maul with a blaster bolt to the head when Maul has Obi-Wan on the ropes. It would seem fitting for both characters. Obi Wan, while powerful, doesn't go for the kill in ANH. If on the verge of defeat with Maul, it would explain why he doesn't go all out against Vader. He would know from the duel with Maul that he can't win against the dark side with violence. He can only win by redefining victory and becoming a ghost. Maul, while powerful, tends to lose sight of the small things when he thinks all is won (pretty much explains all his defeats really, underestimates hanging and desperate Obi-Wan on Naboo, seems to forget about Palpatine on his throne on Mandalore, underestimates recently blinded Kanan on Malachor...)

Would also help explain the animosity Lars has towards the Jedi. He could see first hand the danger that path poses to Luke and the inability of Ben to protect him.

I don't buy arguments of Obi Wan is weak or Maul was already defeated by Obi Wan so yada yada yada my pet character is awesome and should never have flaws Each has notches on their belt and I could see both feasibly defeating one another. What matters is the story and whether a good one is told.

 

Awesome trailer! I have mixed feelings about Maul vs Obi-Wan. I'm very excited for Obi-Wan's return but really nervous that they'll over do it somehow. Overall though it looks like it's going to be a great second half of the season. I do wonder though if the Empire finds Atollon does it mean we'll be getting Yavin IV next season. That would be really nice!

Some of Maul's look seems similar to when he was on Malachor and Vizsla's keep outfit. Looks like he's got baldric style shoulder sword belt(function still unknown but perhaps reminiscent of General Kota or just fashion sense) with the triangle motif seen back on Malachor but flipped the other way or using a different style. He looks like he's sporting a much longer walking stick or bo staff (or broomstick wand?lol ) his right at arm looks covered in something like paint or cloth, his shirt looks heavier than normal maybe. He is once again using a hood or at least an added balaclava for desert fashion.

 

it should be infuriating that Obi Wan will be in rebels in the first place. The story was supposed to be about the formation of the Rebel Alliance, not a gratuitous duel between Maul and someone he's already taken vengeance upon.

 

It's actually Stephen Stanton who voices Tarkin.

 

Well, I don't mind since I wanted Mauls story to end in TCW, at least he's getting a good send off now.

Guys stop the trailer around 2:40 mark and you'll see a familiar face in Yularen! Or at least I think that's who it was.

 

I'm assuming we get Dantooine next.

If we combine the info from the trailer and from the Rogue One Visual Guide, it's obvious what the plot of the Mon Mothma episode will be.

In 2 BBY (during Season 3) Mon Mothma was forced to flee Chandrila after she called the Emperor a ''lying executioner'' in a broadcast.
Thrawn says in the trailer ''We will show the galaxy what happens to those who dare speak against the Emperor''
It seems that one of the episodes involving her will be about her extraction from Chandrila

 

So it's almost confirmed that she will become Mandalore!

Also Thrawn in Unarmed combat!

 

Oh yes, I forgot about Dantooine! That would be equally awesome!

We also see Thrawn in the trailer with some Death troopers! They work with the Tarkin initiative. So many amazing things!

 

I love seeing all these different elements together -- quintessential Star Wars. But the most hype-inducing part for me right now is: "You're in the wrong place."

 

If Maul wanted to be comedic,a good retort would be -

"Half of me is - yes"
