I actually like that pose, and I thought it was kinda cool to see older Obi-Wan do it.

I don't mind he's in the show, just hoping no one besides Maul interacts with him at all. One thing though that bugs me for young obi as well as Anakin in S2. Why have dif faces models from CW show if it's the same people doing Rebels? The Sir Alec meld by campfire is great though.

Maybe its not wood. Maybe its Bantha Poodoo. Or to rephrase in proper pioneer terminology, Bantha "Chips."

I think you'll get your wish BK, I doubt we will see him interact with any other known characters. Are you still on about the animation models in TCW vs Rebels? Teehee.

Yeah. He did it in TCW too if I remember correctly. I'm used to it. :)
... and I can't wait to see Obi in Rebels!

Old Ben probably thinks he's slick hiding his lightsaber in his fire pit twig, while Old Master has his in his doublesided walking cane.[face_skull]

Maul used the same pose, left hand I believe opened instead of the two fingers stuff. Guess its standard lightsaber martial arts stances, perhaps a particular form of lightsaber style. * Still dislike the thin blades of Rebels.

[nerd]It's the salute for Soresu, the defense-based style of lightsaver combat[/nerd]

canon explanation: it's a throwback to an EU lightsaber combat style. Salutes are common in Star Wars lightsaber battles though, especially when it came to Dooku who was basically a fencer. An interesting thing to note is that after Ezra fell in the S1 finale, the Inquisitor actually saluted Kanan after Kanan said he had nothing left to fear.

We've never seen Maul vs Vader so that was the fight to do here, Palps former apprentice vs his current one. Not dragging a senior citizen Obi into something that was already over and done with and screwing with canon as now more people know Obi is in hiding on Tattoine. I just HOPE to gawd Filoni and company have the cahoones to end Maul once and for all. If he sneaks off or doesn't get a final conclusion this show should seriously be considered a different canon. It would be laughable at that point.

Movie Kenobi tired rapidly and could not find any openings in Vader's cautious defense. Neither Vader nor Kenobi used any Force powers to break the stalemate between them, it seemed very obvious like the Force was weak with them both at this time. And that was Lucas's vison, two old men and one cripple and the Force dying off in the galaxy at this time because of The Emperor's actions. Kenobi ended up sliced in half like Maul was on Naboo on the Death Star, that is a weird twist of fate, after he raised up his arms to sacrifice himself for Luke - he was sliced in half and pulled the Spirit. The escape allowed Luke, being younger could do what he could not, defeat the Sith. I don't really see the point in a duel between these two combatants, provided there is a prolonged duel and Maul does indeed "die". If they have Kenobi start jumping all over the place and doing weird stuff it would be comical, if Maul gets shot in the head by Uncle Owen or Bo-Katan or force pushed into the Sarlacc pit by a young Luke it would be yet another laughing stock. Rather a stale duel between them, a more cerebral approach would make more sense, maybe they fight to a stalemate and Maul gives up the obvious revenge suicide the writers put the character in and Jinn appears. Alternatively it could be a good duel, but I doubt it.

I already view TCW & Rebels as different from the films. Some fans really have this lust to smash all things Star Wars together just for the sake of it all being one big story. This causes people to want things to happen to match other stories. IE Maul being killed off. If a fan was to watch TCW and then Rebels in sequence with out ever seeing the main 6 films from George Lucas, Vader gains his mystery back until the end of season 2 of Rebels. I try not to think about the film saga when watching Rebels, but TCW i always think about when watching it.

My bad...thats true...its from ROTS. Id rather they left ben kenobi alone. He really seems like he hasnt had anything to do with anything when luke brings up obi wan kenobi. He even said " i USE to be a Jedi Knight." So all those fighting days, lightsabers, battles seem like somthing obi wan hasnt been part of for a looong time.

Well, it's 6 years before ANH, I think. So, one fight in 19 years. I do hope, as you say, they leave him alone.

That said, Bail in R1 obviously has kept in touch with Kenobi. So hes not completely out if it. Even so, I hope he never goes off world. He has to stay on Tatooine and Yoda on Dagobah. Maul meeting his end on Tatooine is fine. Maybe Ezra going to Tatooine once . But the less the we see of Kenobi the better.

am I the only bloke excited at seeing Kenobi?
always wanted to see Maul vs Kenobi in Live action with Ewan back but I'd take an animated take.

thing is Kenobi isn't really a Jedi Knight anymore, he's in exile. Even in the comics he struggles with monotony and being unable to help the innocent because he doesn't want to draw any attention, so inactivity. So essentially he's not being Jedi like. Also when he saw Luke's courage he was happy, it renewed his faith that the Jedi weren't gone, gave him hope.

as for Kenobi in ANH, always felt that once he left Luke and told him
"Your Destiny Lies Along A Different Path Than Mine." and "The Force will be with you always."
both sounded like a goodbye to Luke. If Vader can sense Kenobi when the ship arrived than I'm sure Kenobi sensed Vader and knew that he wasn't going to make it back. Doesn't help that during his dual with Vader his saber was essentially malfunctioning. He was just buying time until Luke arrived.

Kenobi using his saber a few times in Rebels, 2 years before ANH, isn't going to change the fact that he's still be rusty. Using your saber a handful of times in 19 years isn't going to make your skills consistent. Also between Rebels and ANH, there would be another 2 years where he wouldn't be using his saber.

The trailer didn't actually show them fighting, so I firmly believe that instead of them dueling, Maul shows up for some kind of assistance from Kenobi. And I really do think this is a fake-out for Maul vs. Vader.
