ST Episode 8 Title - The Last Jedi

I like the simplicity, and there is a sadness to it. And red logo makes it darker.

 

This new title seriously gets me hyped.

ROTJ used a red font too. I assume it's a reference to that.

I hope this title refers to Jedi in the plural - Luke & Rey and/or surviving students coming out of the woodwork - rather than the whittling down of the lineage to just Rey, or the transformation of the Jedi into something else. The Jedi can grow and change, but I'd like them to remain Jedi.

A design site I read occasionally, talking about how the red color design might indicate a darker Luke.

Not saying I necessarily agree, but I do like how color choices speak to us symbolically.

Makes sense if this is the kind of tone they're going for in each film.

7 = neutral ending
8 = dark ending
9 = happy ending

Since red is the color of the dark side, and blue is generally considered the color of the light side, with yellow being the color of general Force users, it kind of works.

 

I like how tragic its implications are. Not the biggest fan of the word "Jedi" being used again in a title, especially not long after ROTJ, but I'll get over it.

 

One thing this title does seem to indicate is that we will be seeing more of the mysticism of the Force, which has been a tenant of the ST since George mentioned it in interviews in the 70s/80s. I'm excited to see that seed finally brought to fruition!

I do agree though that Episode IX most likely now will be blue.

 

so ROTJ now is all about Anakin's redemption since the Jedi didn't make a real return until the ST. And even in the ST, only Rey and Luke doesn't mean the Jedi returned since it's the same thing as the OT where there was only 2 Jedi at a time and they never returned. Get a minimum of a 3rd person and the Jedi will finally return.

 

Love the title. Has a simple and retro vibe to it.

 

So excited. I got goosebumps and a rush of emotion just from the title.

Lol, as I admitted this is probably due to my OCD that I'm freaking out. I just need to have it sink in for awhile.

 

Unimaginative, repetitive and pattern breaking.

There'd better be more trilogies after this one or I'll just view it as a fanmade extension.

I just realized there's another big blockbuster movie premiering this year with a very similar title.... maybe even TOO similar...

 

Well, considering the title, that 4chan "leak" about the content of 40 min out of first one hour is now looking way more likely. I do expect that "Jedi" story takes at least 60% of the movie.

Also, they are making up for Luke's cameo in TFA, aren't they?
