As the two versions of the scar clearly do not match, what if the one from the shot with his lightsaber is actually from a force vision That Luke or Rey have ? A vision showing the parallels between Kylo and Anakin and the possibility of Kylo sharing Anakins fate ? This would explain the somewhat sith-ish eyes and the scar that is reminiscent of Anakin´s. It reminded me so much of Revenge of the Sith, sure it isn´t unintentional.

 

I love how Kylo is shaping for TLJ. It might be true the helmet does not match his new outfit.

I hope if that is the case he does not use it too much.

 

Damn. Bacta technology has really, really improved.

 

This scar doesn't match the TFA one but does match the one from the TLJ teaser, so it's clear that this is what they're going with.

 

I guess they had the knobs on the Bacta tank turned to "Byronic hero" rather than "grotesque half-cyborg".

 

Guessing the make-up artists only had eyeliner pencil on hand to draw the scar the first day of filming TLJ, and the look stuck.

 

Worse than that - it was a beige lipliner!

 

Kylo: "I'm going to take my revenge for this scar you gave me."

Kylo: uh, I'm wearing make-up. Trust me, it's super gross and badass-looking underneath.

 

Kylo: I also dyed my hair a shade darker. Can you see the difference? *flips hair*

Yep, Tumblr fanart was on the money that he looks like a Prince in MSW-described costume. And Jason was on the money when he described scarred Kylo as "foxy". And Mark was on the money when he described Adam/Kylo as "dangerous dreamboat".

Yes, this is his "new" scar. No wonder they pulled out Funko Scarred Kylo proposal and made him unscarred Funko Battle Kylo. They knew they wanted a "foxy" scar.

So is Kylo not wearing the mask this entire movie? Anyways, that shot was sick in the trailer. Looked like it was twisted in the saber into somebody. Also he looks great on the poster aswell.

 

think they kept it small for the fangirls? no no that'd be low lol, but why bother with it in the first place? I think it's been retconned, like tfa meant for the scar to be substantial and rj decided to trash that for some reason

 

I never realized it before but it looks like we saw Kylo's undertunic in this TFA promo pic already and it matches the TLJ Kylo picture. Meesa think he'll be wearing this in TLJ.

No lie some of his fangirls on Tumblr are posting about they kept him hot.

 

It could have been just for the sake of making things easier. Wearing heavy makeup to simulate a huge facial scar for hours a day for months of filming - much of it outdoors in the rain and weather - probably isn't comfortable for an actor or easy for the makeup department to maintain.

 

And they have a very expressive actor who doesn't ham it up but subtly emotes so big scar would have hidden that. Performance quality is their driving point rather than pleasing one fandom or the other. Also, bacta technology works against mega scar. Once you establish that rule, it's hard to break it without someone going "c'mon!"

 

Maybe they're backpedaling from the "scars and ugliness = evil" trope? personally I like it but I can see how it could be problematic. then again Adam did say kylo is only "alive" in a sense of the word for IX, that could mean anything I don't put much weight on actors words or my interpretation of them, but that seems to imply a kylo that is physically or mentally degraded, and well, I thought he was already mentally decrepit

 

1. Stop overgeneralizing Kylo fans and knock it off with the baiting.
2. One word: bacta. The character was bleeding to death from a crossbow bolt. Do the math what happened next.
3. Yes, the scar is in a different place on his forehead, not just thinner. Artistic license that brings out the OCD traits in me. My guess the scar screwed up the feng shui of his face, so they moved it. Or it was easier to position each time they glued it to Driver's face. Or his skin reacted to larger makeup prosthetics.whatever the reason, its different. Oh well.
4. Did I mention overgeneralizing a fan base is uncool?

 

I really just don't understand the different placement of part of the scar on the forehead.

A remarkably well-healed scar? Ok, fine.
But it's not cool to move the scar from directly above his nose to over his right eye...that has got to just be sloppy planning, right? Why else would they do that?

 

I really liked his mask and voice within the mask but I can't lie some of my favorite moments where his acting without the mask. When he was reading Rey's thoughts it was genuinely disturbing because of his fantastic acting.

 

It may be as simple as it stuck to his face easier in the new placement.
