"For those of you who want to live out dream battles between Star Wars ' most iconic characters, some modes will support era-crossover play for Heroes, allowing you to set matchups between familiar faces from different time periods."

    https://www.ea.com/games/starwars/b...s-battlefront-ii-4-things-celebration-trailer

It also says the troopers will match the theme of the era as well, so it's sounding pretty decent there. I guess it's just some Heroes vs Villains type of a mashup that lets you go anyone vs anyone. I was somewhat alarmed by this as well, but if the bigger ("main") maps and modes are restricted by the time period, I think that sounds pretty nice.

There's simply no way weapons will be era-locked. If it was you'd have to unlock weapons for three different eras which IMO would suck. I don't mind seeing weapons from different eras peppered around. FO weapons, though, are a deal breaker. They'd just look out of place being used by anyone else.

I would hope there would be progressive unlocking... clone wars era weapons for the galactic civil war, clone wars and galactic civil war weapons for the first order conflict. That would encourage more players to focus on the contemporary era. We'll see how they handle it. The multiplayer portion isn't canon, so they have lots of creative freedom there.

Game is looking great in my opinion. Can't wait to see what other planets and heroes will be in the game.

Was really hoping for a modern version of Pandemic's games, but I remain cautiously optimistic.

We saw a roll at one point in the footage, and I'm pretty sure I saw some manual rolling at one point with one of the starfighters as well. While this isn't getting perfectly to what Pandemic gave us, it certainly feels like a great upgrade.
Special classes are included within the battle point system along with vehicles and heroes, and from the small amounts we saw of that list, I'd say special classes are mid-range in terms of the points you need.
I'm loving what I've seen, and this should certainly be a whole league ahead of the first. Also, Darth Maul just looks absolute divine in action. If we're allowed to swap heroes on our battle point list, he will be staying there permanently.

Looked at the stream. The assets look good as always, just a shame they're wasted on a modern DICE game. I'll stick to Movie Battles II [face_thinking]

I don't understand why nobody is pushing or asking for it. Everybody is so caught up in the hype but if Skirmish/Instant Action ain't coming back and the clone wars and maps are all exclusive to the multiplayer like BF 2015, then I'll be pissed.

At this point I'm preordering no matter what.[face_peace]

Though galactic conquest would be very interesting. especially as it would mean they would have to have enough maps to represent a the galaxy as a whole which we must conquest.[face_thinking]

Skirmish was confirmed at the presentation to be making a return. Tons of people are asking about those features. DICE and EA are just choosing to hold off on releasing all possible information in one go. They've still got 5 months till release, they'll want to build hype all through that time releasing tidbits of information regarding game modes etc.

In my opinion however there won't be an equivalent to galactic conquest. Personally I never really cared for the system or BF2s "campaign". Both were basically placeholders to break up instant action.

This game is exciting as it will have a true campaign separate from the multiplayer. It'll probably be short but sweet.

I believe they did say Skirmish will be back, as well as split screen co-op.

I feel as if the Sequel Trilogy should be saved for the third game, there's not enough source material to work with since we only have TFA. Yes I know we're getting free DLC from TLJ but wouldn't you rather have a whole trilogy included in your game instead of waiting to have to download something?

I'm fine with them pulling from the ST. The very first Battlefront only had two Prequel films to pull content from, and that game turned out fine.

I liked what I saw. Seeing the battle droids and the prequel era vehicles made me rather nostalgic of the original game. I'm definitely getting it.

So are we going to get real singleplayer/splitscreen battles with bots, or that watered-down bot gameplay we saw in the first EA game?

There will indeed be singleplayer and splitscreen bot battles, according to what they said at EA Play.

From unconfirmed reports the skirmish that we got in EASWBF1 was done with a small crew of about 3-4 people hence why it was a glitchy mess. Most dlc resources were focused on the then new content like bespin etc. it was a quick "fix" so they could show something.

They confirmed at the presentation that alongside the single player campaign consoles would have local and online coop and that skirmish would also be making a return. My thoughts are that this time skirmish has been in from the beginning and will be a fuller experience. It should also contain all maps and modes given that there are no paid dlc splitting the player base.

At this time however all we have officially confirmed is that split screen and skirmish will be making a comeback. Nothing on content etc. probably won't have a clearer idea until maybe games-con in Germany later in the year.
