Breaking news! Anyone read the insider leak of L&M being fired on set??

    Miller: What's goin' on, buddy?
Kasdan: You're being fired. Kennedy said you can finish your day's work here with me & then **** off.
    Miller: With you?
Kasdan: I'm supposed to help you write a BS press release. You'll be out on your asses but at least your careers will be safe. You can go back to working with Lego.
Lord: Kennedy wants us both to direct this movie!!
Kasdan: No she doesn't want you at all, she's after um er Ron Howard.
    Miller: Richie Cunningham?
Kasdan: Kennedy set a trap for him.
    Lord: And we're the bait?
Kasdan: Yeah well he's on his way.
Miller: Perfect. You fixed us up real good didn't you. Our "friend" [throws a pen at him].
Kasdan: Stop! I'm sorry I couldn't do better but I got my own problems. My son's been in the corner crying all day bcs you changed his dialogue.
Miller: Yeah Kasdan, you're a real hero!

I think Kathleen has created a new kind of blockbuster film model, and that's exciting. I call it the "cover album" model. For a great cover album, you bring in young creative musicians and ask them to interpret great songs. For a Star Wars Anthology film, you bring in young creative filmmakers and ask them to interpret the Star Wars universe. They can infuse their own styles and energy into the songs/ movies, but they can't entirely jettison the beat/ tone.

I think this is the right recipe for great, fresh films that still feel like Star Wars, as long as each of the directors understand that and agree to it. It's a shame L&M weren't able to work collaboratively to make that happen.

And if Kathleen abandons this model (I hope not) at least we have Rogue One. Forever.

Counter point: perhaps the climax of Lord and Miller's Han Solo was Han and Lando shooting Greedo's penis off and celebrating about it for ten minutes.

And now I'll never forgive Kennedy and Kasdan for depriving me of what would have been my favorite scene in the entirety of cinematic history.

    WOW ! Look at this:

One source described it as being oddly comparable to Jim Carrey’s performance in Ace Ventura at times. Ehrenreich let his concerns be known to one of the producers, who then told Kennedy about it, which led to her decision to look over the existing footage.

If this is true, then LFL just did this:

After the prequel ban thing, I don't trust 100% in SWNN posts

Ron Howard was a common guess a few years ago for doing one of these movies. Even though I've figured this Han Solo movie was going to be something completely different and catering to a younger generation, I never understood how those two guys got chosen for this movie in the first place. They obviously didn't see the articles about Kathleen Kennedy being a force to be reckoned with.

SWNN is notoriously unreliable, and they are the only ones reporting that. Until a few more legitimate outlets report something similar, I'm going to put it in the "ehhhh, not so sure about that" bin.

    Traitor!

I Lost them in mid world with Eddie Dean and I'll be dammed if those blasted drums aren't the drum beat for ZZ Top's Velcro fly.

In Ronny we trust the man is a very iconic Hollywood child actor was in one of George Lucas's best non star wars films American Graffiti A classic in its own right. and is not only a great film maker he is an Oscar winner for best picture and best director no less. Ron Howard should elicit no worries. one movie I forgot he directed was Parenthood, very good movie!

Maybe they should've fired the most troublesome one & kept the other. Why fire both? Are they Siamese twins? Symbionts? What the hell.

They work as a duo. There's no way that firing one would have solved anything.

True, I was being facetious. Just find this director-duo business a bit odd.

The Cohen brothers are really good they even wrote the script for Steven Spielberg's Bridge Of Spies!
I want to stress what we are hearing in Trade papers is purely speculation and that goes for the reshoots on Rogue One as well. until we get the J.W. Rinzler books on all the Disney Star Wars movies we just don't know?

Yet it took till almost the end of shooting for anyone to realise what was going on? This whole thing is bizarre. The picture being painted is one of L&M coming onto a project to do their thing and since signing on there has been zero communication between directors and management.

Everything new I read stinks of awful management.

Not sure why you bring this up again. The "prequel ban" thing was something discussed by Iain McCaig at a conference and he was only speaking about The Force Awakens. It's a fact:

    https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2016/07/more-clarification-on-iain-mccaigs-comments.html

Again, this is just his opinion, it's not like we intentionally made up that story.

If the SWNN article is true, all i get from that is the L&M were doing what they wanted/ going in a certain direction. There were no meetings to alter course, KK see's footage, thinks L&M will just allow supervising of reshoots (something that should have been nailed down before shooting), L&M say no, they are fired.

    Poor management.

Hard to argue that there's hasn't been poor management at play here. That's kind of obvious. Yet it's better to admit mistakes & make the hard decisions now to salvage the movie. Rather than stay the course & go down with the ship.

Which is then my additional worry on top of all this. That we are about to get another RO-like movie. At least with L&M i might have seen some kind of different take on the story. Now i'm worried it's heading for complete mediocrity just so they can shove something out in May.
