But Emilia was confirmed as female lead and is the only woman in the oficial photo posted by Star Wars official site. Emilia's role had several women of color in the dispute like Zoe Kravitz, Naomi Scott and Tessa Thompson. I'll be not surprise if Thandie Newton will be like Korr Sella in TFA.
Have to agree with you there. First time I saw this photo I was scanning the characters left to right, "all right there's Han, Woody, and Khaleesi. Check." Seriously that looks like a classic Dany pose.
Same here, totally reminded me of Daenerys's white dress at the end of Season 5. I will be very surprised if that isn't her cause the pose is identical.
Oh No, I don't think Thandie Newton is in that photo, I was just saying that although we've had something of a overdose in white-brunette female leads, there is also a woman of colour in this movie. Thandie Newton. Who I hope has a large role, and that we hear some information about her character soon. D23 perhaps?
Emilia is laid-back and goofy. Her eyebrows have their own personality, too. I have a feeling she will be perfect for Han Solo...either lighthearted or as a political figure with prestige. "Where's my wig?!" Lol As Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones

I think that's unlikely . Thandie Newton is a far more experienced and respected actor than Maisie Richardson-Sellers, who played Korr Sella. Newton has just featured in the critically acclaimed TV series Westworld, and has a career spanning more than a decade. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0628601/?ref_=tt_cl_t2 By contrast Sellers had little experience outside her University's dramatic society when she supposedly auditioned for the role of Rey in TFA. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5114966/ After Daisy Ridley got the part Sellers was given the Korr Sella role, most of which was excised form the finished film. Given that Newton was not listed alongside Kravitz, Scott and Thompson for Emilia Clarke's role, it's fair to assume that she has a separate role in the Han Solo movie, far more substantial than Korr Sella in TFA.
I was pointing out that an actor of Von Sydow's standing got a bit-part so don't expect Newton to be in the movie from start to finish.
She is great, and she will be great. She is a great choice. She will go straight from lighting up the world in GOT to this movie.
Yeah, she's been great so far this season in GoT. Her performance in 4-6 was getting stale for me, with her monotone look and voice, but with her now having some emotional depth, she's back at it like in seasons 1-3. I'd give credit to Jon Snow/Kit Harington for great chemistry as well. Then again, she's a very lively and energetic person in real life, too. I guess I blame her more bland performance on the scripts/directors.
Michael K. Williams revealed that the name of Emilia Clarkes's character is Kira (an hommage to Rey's name during the production of TFA, I guess) https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2017/08/michael-k-williams-emmy-interview
MSW says the name is actually Kura: http://makingstarwars.net/2017/08/emilia-clarkes-character-name-untiteld-han-solo-star-wars-story/
I'm curious to see if they want her to play it serious and straight, or if they let her bring some of her own actual personality to the role?
Love "Kira" always have... "Kura" not so much... I was still holding out hope for Rey to be secretly named "Kira" - guess this ends that
I like Kura much better than Kira. There's something about Kira that I just don't like. Like the name Denise. It just rubs me the wrong way for no rational reason.
How would it be pronounced...? coo-ra? ka-ra? Kira just sounds right. "Denise" haha that's my auntys name! Whilst it isn't a great name it's certainly not up there with Godfrey, Eugene, Midge, Travis, Helga or Borris!
And please send any of the following relatives of yours mine - Godfrey MONK, Eugene MONK, Midge MONK, Travis MONK, Helga MONK or Borris MONK! I really hope it's "Kira"
