I wish they gave more details. Not sure why the teases are so generic Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I personally didn't like the first Thrawn book but I have high hopes for this novel. My only complaint is that it is so far away. Del Rey is strange. They pushed TLJ novelization all the way to March and they only announce one novel for 2018. If Star Wars novels stop coming, I think I'm in serious trouble mentally.
I have a feeling it has something to do with the fact it isn't written all the way yet, and things could still change between now and final edit. Sent from my Ornithopter using The Force
They just released a novel this past week. Which is doing very well and will likely be another New York Times bestseller. They have Canto Blight coming in December. TLJ novelization coming in March. And now this next Thrawn novel. They are still steadily releasing novels every two to three months. They have plenty of time to announce more stuff for the second half of 2018. Keep in mind they probably can't yet announce some of the stuff they have in the works until after we see Episode VIII.
What?! Then why is it coming out in Summer?! Ah! Kill me now. Care to share the link? Sent from my Ornithopter using The Force
Yay! I was really hoping for another Thrawn book and this seems to suggest he will survive Rebels. I couldn't have hoped for better news. Plus, the military focused GCW stories are fantastic. Hopefully they'll do a third that's towards the end of the war. I kind of suspect we will have one more book released prior to summer that hasn't been announced yet. They're very likely to have a Han Solo tie in since the movie comes out in spring or a TLJ to in based on information revealed in the film. They wouldn't be ready to announce either of these. I'm assuming we will have another announcement in a few months
Looks like this definitely will be a post Rebels novel. By summer next year we will likely get an idea for rather Luke is Rey's dad or not. I personally don't think he'll be the father but if he is it's as good as time as any to introduce her mom. If Luke is going to be the dad Mara would be just as good as anybody to have be the mom. So if Luke is meant to be Rey's dad (which I still don't think will be the case) might as well bring Mara Jade into this next Thrawn novel.
Couple of things... 1. Preorders will be ready sometime this weekend for those interested. 2. Yes we are strange. In the best possible ways. You have to be strange to work in publishing on any level. 3. The book is not "done." A book being submitted and a book being done are not the same thing. 4. There's a lot that you don't know. Just be patient. All is revealed in time. 5. If you are at NYCC and don't visit me at the booth this weekend I will be sad.
You can't announce that Knights of the Old Republic book you are working on until Luke introduces us to the Knights of the Old Republic in the movie
1. This is a smart choice -- clearly both the fandom and Zahn are not done with Thrawn. 2. I just want more high society shenanigans like in the first book. Missa ab iPhona mea est.
Oh my.... These are great news! I wish that Thrawn surives Rebels (and this novel makes it more likely)! I guess they will make a story like in the Tarkin novel. We see an "adventure" with Thrawn and Vader, but we will see flashbacks from Anakin and Thrawn. I'm really happy atm.
There are actually six models of Darth Internous and they have a plan. OK, yeah, really obvious riff there but there is a method to this. Spacing out the releases makes it easier for people to buy - you drop four £20 hardbacks in the space of a month, expecting them all to sell well is a big ask. But issue one a month? People can more easily find the cash and have time to read them. It also allows them to do a PR run structured around one item without having to share the time with others, which dilutes the marketing message.
Great! Let's hope Neil Gaiman comes out with a new novel next year as well. *prepares to preorder and sighs dreamily*
One for the diary... Maybe my local bookstore will place it on the shelves a few days early like this year. That was a pleasant surprise. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
I searched for it in google So will see flashbacks from the Clone Wars where Thrawn met Anakin. That's nice
https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/572675/thrawn-alliances-star-wars-by-timothy-zahn/ About Thrawn: Alliances (Star Wars) Grand Admiral Thrawn and Darth Vader ally against a threat to the Empire in this new novel from bestselling author Timothy Zahn. The sequel to New York Times bestseller Thrawn, Thrawn: Alliances will continue to follow the rise of Grand Admiral Thrawn to the heights of Imperial power—and accompany him into the past, witnessing his first encounter with the man who will one day become Darth Vader.
It's been rare that a new-canon book has piqued my interest enough for me to check it out. When a Thrawn novel by Zahn was announced last year, it easily passed the test. This time? Nah. The first Thrawn book wasn't just unremarkable, it was bad. Zahn can do much, much better. Or at least he could? Choices of One was awful, but I haven't read Scoundrels, so I can't comment on whether or not his track record has been all-around bad during the past decade.
Re: the blurb: Yes, good, that is EXACTLY what I wanted from this book. Can it end with Thrawn being "exiled" again so he can survive the OT and live to villain another day?
