    It's a shame that everyone who now hates Chewie for swatting the porg away from a control he needs to reach in order to pilot them all to safety clearly do not care about Luke Skywalker.

    Chewie once swatted Luke's hand out of the way when he was reaching for the control panel but nobody was angry about that. :(

    Maybe that's the "raw strength" he's only seen once before. He didn't fear Chewie enough then, but after seeing him knock the porg aside, he does now.

    I suspect this is it, precisely. It perfectly explains Luke's look of trepidation when he enters the cockpit of the Falcon. "It didn't scare me enough then..."

    Chewie is being proactive (no distractions please), but I think also protective. The Porg is freaking out by what it sees through the cockpit window. Chewbacca is trying to calm it down by pushing it off the side. Helps him, helps the Porg (and everyone else on board.)
