I've always been a fan of Greek mythology. There's some wonderful children's adaptations.

Lol I've always had a stupid little guess about that guy being Anakin's old pod racing rival, Selbulba. It probably wasn't, but its fun to imagine, particularly with that scene when Anakin is driving the speeder and nearly crashing into him.

*drags a large evergreen tree through the front door and slams it into a corner* Merry Christmas. I stole it from the Jedi. And I popped their Yoda and C3PO yard inflatables while I was at it. I also key-scratched "Sith happens" on their speeders. Then I decked their halls with dead and unconscious padawans. Yes, I am de-stressing. Thank you for your patience, my good bad people. *bows respectfully*

Presenting my latest task, master dragonsith13 . *respectful bow*

Task #13 - Sith War Beast

The Sith and Darksiders have always been known for bending nature to our will. Using alchemy and training to mold creatures to our desire and/or train wild beasts to be instruments of our will. Find such a creature and tell us about it. Who created or found them, when and where did/do they exist? What was their purpose?

I have chosen the Sith War Behemoth as my subject for this task. Essentially, they are like a living AT-AT or a tank, nearly indestructible for their size and power, paralleling the use of elephants in war within real life history. Ultimately, what caused me to select this beast is its name. The Behemoth is a mysterious creature referenced in the Bible. It is detailed in Job 40:15 through 24 as an enormous and powerful creature, but at the same time, the details are vague. It is said to be an herbivore with a tail "like a cedar tree". I think this is where whoever designed the Behemoth for Star Wars was inspired.

I've heard some Bible scholars theorize that the Behemoth could have been a hippopotamus and it just makes me laugh. A tail like a cedar tree, the Bible says. Clearly, these Bible scholars have not paid much attention to the backside of a hippo. Other theories suggest that the Behemoth was some type of dinosaur, which seems to make much more sense than the hippo theory and it tells me whoever designed the Star Wars Behemoth might have been on target as the beast closely resembles a triceratops in appearance.

Moving on from personal interest and curiosity, the Star Wars Behemoth was originally a peaceful grazing creature native to the frigid world of Khar Delba that only used its horns and tusks to defend itself from predators. They were herd animals that moved in small groups of two to four animals spending most of their time foraging. They had shaggy hair along their necks, powerful beak-like jaws, and backs covered in tough hide that acted as natural armor. They stood anywhere from twelve to fifteen meters high and weighed in at well over ten thousand kilograms.

There is no given name of any one Sith Lord who discovered these animals. They were found by the Sith collectively and transported to harsh jungle climates where I assume they adapted in addition to being altered by Sith alchemy that transformed them into omnivorous beasts of violence that would eat anything if the mood suited them. Despite their newly found violent nature, they were relatively easy to train and responded well to commands which made them ideal animals to use in war.

Mounted with heavy weapons and artillery and carrying troops into battle, there was no stopping the Sith Behemoth. They were frequently used to plow through enemy fortifications, causing mass destruction in their wake and leveling opposing armies. While they were not very territorial, they would react violently if attacked or threatened which essentially made it suicide for anyone who tried to stand against them while driven by the Sith. Years of selective breeding made these animals relatively easy to train for anyone with animal-handling experience, which testifies to the intelligence of the Behemoth and, because of the Sith, they could be found on worlds such as Ziost and Korriban in addition to their native

Of all the beasts I researched that are connected with the Sith, I was most impressed with this animal, though I was tempted to delve into the Leviathan as this is also a mysterious animal mentioned in the book of Job. Pictures of the beast didn't exactly line up with the description in the Bible though, so it kind of squelched my curiosity.

Followup Task - Sith War Bird

I did skim over these creatures as I sought out a beast to study, though I'll admit I passed them over after learning that they are flightless. A war bird capable of air attacks would have piqued my interest a bit more than one limited to ground battle. Nevertheless, the Sith War Bird does have its admirable qualities as a battle-worthy beast.

Also hailing from the planet Khar Delba, they were first used as artillery mounts by the ancient Sith species from Korriban. Though not specifically stated, it seems Korriban is the planet where the birds were discovered by the Empire because this is where they were transported by the Sith species of old.

There is nothing stated about genetic mutating, alchemy, or special breeding to make the birds into something they were not naturally as was done to the Behemoth. The war birds were naturally ill-tempered, dangerous creatures that would use their own size of roughly six meters in height to ram and trample their prey, then tear it apart with their deadly beaks and claws. Though they lacked the power and brute strength of the Behemoth, war birds were advantageous to the Sith military due to their speed and easy maneuverability.

The most interesting fact I found about the war bird is that it had a particularly thick hide that was remarkably tough. Not a quality you often find in a bird, to be sure, but facts state that the hide was so tough that hooks and spikes could be embedded in it without actually harming the birds. On that note, I assume blaster bolts weren't much of an issue to them either, but I could be wrong as I did not find anything to factually support this.

Another fact I found interesting was that during the Great Sith War, the birds were often used for scouting because enemy detection devices were less likely to go off over a living creature, permitting riders to penetrate deep into enemy lines without being threatened.

One final thing I thought was great to stumble upon in my research of this creature is that credit is given to the person who actually introduced this them into the Star Wars universe. Michael Mikaelian brainstormed the war bird and it was officially added to Star Wars wildlife in 2001. Mikaelian is the author of many Star Wars short stories including Lumiya: Dark Star of the Empire and Double Cross on Ord Mantell.

Nicely done. If you like the idea of flying beasts, you need to look up the Uvak from the Lost Tribe books.

Sounds tasty, have 1 PP and 2 Wookiee points from me.

Also, i've found my purpose and have accepted challenges from underlings within the arena. I know a certain cyborg has a vendetta against a Sith-Spawn buy I only offer his protegy, Astra as an opponenr. Set up the time and place. Kaleesh-Cyborg
