No, that was only an illusion. The real Sifo-Dyas is long since dead and was not Sidious in disguise.
Sifo Diyas was killed much prior. As stated above, it was an illusion created by Darth Sidious in an attempt to sway/influence Yoda.
Sifo-Dyas was an existing Jedi, not Sidious: "Master Sifo-Dyas was killed almost 10 years ago." - Obi-Wan Kenobi, Attack of the Clones
Coincidentally, though, the original script had it such that someone named Sido-Dyas was the person who ordered the clone army. Kaminoans were supposed to have an accent that corrupted the way "Sidious" was pronounced - thus Sido-Dyas. But on a keyboard, d is adjacent to f. So when somebody accidentally wrote Sifo-Dyas and GL though tit sounded cool, he decided "Why not" and made some changes
Heheh. Would've loved to. I'd feel like such a delinquent not reporting it in MS. Monopoly had me distracted. **** that game Oh right, topics. Uh Yaeh. LEarned that Sifo/Sido thing on Wookieepedia. Good ol' Wook. Yep
As a young child, I assumed Sifo-Dyas had to be Qui-Gon Jinn, because Obi-wan referred to him as his master. I had many long discussions with my brother and father about it. It was such a mystery to me for so many years. Then cool rumors surfaced like "Grevious's organs are actually from Sifo-Dyas, who was betrayed by Dooku." Then the TCW did their story and I was like "Oh..."
I was aware of the Sido-Dyas thing, but I was asking about your statements about the "Kaminoan accent" corrupting the name Sidious, and that the change to SiFo-Dyas was due to a typing mistake. Is there any source to that or is that just your interpretation?
Huh. I hadn't thought much of it, but it isn't my fabrication if it is one. I first read about it on this forum a few years back, but I don't remember who from or if they still use this board
The Clone Wars looks like it has some cool episodes, I have watched Season 1 and there was some great eps in there all right, but a lot of filler, IS there a definite list of good episodes that are relevant to the overall SW story ?
He did it out of respect since he's a fellow Jedi with an higher rank. Every episode is more or less relevant to the overall story of the series, even those than may seem like 'filler'. If you mean the story of the movies, then probably only the final sixth season.
It was talked about back in 2001-2002, as I was there back then. I cannot recall the exact nature of how it was brought up, but the Kaminoan accent was being compared to the Gungan accent and that both were butchering the English/Basic language.
I liked the Sido-Dyas idea better. I suppose them animating Sidious posing or impersonating Sifo was like a homage to that old idea and circulating theory back in the day that Sidious was Sifo-Dyas. But not sure how Sidious thought he was fooling anyone with those eyes. But if Sith Lords were able to use magic like that they could've fooled quite a few people with similar antics. Able to cast such realistic illusions from afar .
His eyes weren't the problem. When he's wearing the hood, he can either switch his eyes to yellow or to their natural color. Hell, most of the time the hood covered his eyes so no one could tell that he was Palpatine.
At first Yoda was buying it was Sifo, until he showed the eyes and kept his head and face facing Yoda. So yeah the eyes are a problem on the Sifo-Dyas Force casted illusion is what I am talking about. Not whether Sidious can change his eyes back and fourth on his own person or wear a hood. Thats what basically gave it way as Sith affiliated, plus its personality was typical Dark Sider/Sith temptations ect where it just jumped right in. The eyes were a particular give a way, so it seems indeed Sidious was unable to replicate "normal" eyes under such conditions. He shoud've kept them closed. On another note, its obvious that Palpatine and Sidious are the same person despite the silly hood and dumb evil voice. Yoda seeing Sidious this close and personal really makes him a moron he didnt figure it out sooner imo.
First, I thought you were still talking about Kamino. Second, the yellow eyes don't prove that's Palpatine. That just proves that Darth Sidious is screwing with Yoda as he was warned by Serenity. Second, Yoda didn't see Palpatine's face under the hood. The same way that everyone else couldn't see it. Grievous didn't know that he had kidnapped his boss and Nute had no idea that the Chancellor is the Dark Lord. Much like no one can tell that Superman and Clark Kent are the same person, and no one notices the similar facial features the Batman has with Bruce Wayne, a very public figure. Third, Yoda doesn't recognize Palpatine's voice. He only hears the voice of Darth Sidious. Tim Curry, like the other actors dating back to Ian McDiarmid, altered his voice enough to distinguish between the two personas.
