Well, I think the main plot revolves around rescuing the dinosaurs on the island from the volcano. But I guess that "cloned dinosaur to be auctioned gets loose on the mainland" theme could be a secondary plotline. And yes, I agree that the militarized dinosaurs idea doesn't seem to be back... luckily it seems to be done after the brief exploration of that that they had in the last movie.
Jurassic World 3 announced for June 11th, 2021 - http://jurassicoutpost.com/jurassic-world-3-release-june-11th-2021/
I think Sam Neill was sitting two tables away from me at lunch today in Melbourne. Yes, I know he isn't in the film. Just saying.
It's funny how the raptors from being antagonists in the original Jurassic Park trilogy to allies of humans in the new one, although I have a feeling... Spoiler Blue isn't going to trust Owen as much after being tranquilized.
So the final trailer made me less excited and I kind of wish I didn't watch it. From the trailer I gleaned that Act 1: go back to the island under the guise to save the dinosaurs. Act 2: We were tricked to save them because now they're being sold! Act 3: Stop the bad guys and save the day. Dinosaur team up! Another new dinosaur. Put child in trouble to create tension so adults can save the day.
Didn't they do the whole dinosaurs-invade-the suburbs bit in Lost World; or was that among the sequels that never really happened? Don't get me wrong, I like the JP; especially the original which I saw in the theaters during opening weekend. I haven't had the motivation to see the sequels in the theaters because they play out to be just another monster movie with no real character building. The dinosaurs in Jurassic World were cool and all, but I really felt nothing for the human characters.
This does seem to sum it up pretty well. I'm especially at the part where they seem to have made another new even more unstoppable dinosaur, after what happened last time with the Indominus Rex.
I am surprised more people aren't digging the horror aspect of this? Spielberg has said in interviews that Jaws and JP are horror films except instead of a guy with a knife its animals with sharp teeth and claws, this is pure horror and exactly what Spielberg talked about! I saw Two of J.A. Bayona's films A Monster Calls and The Impossible they were great emotionally charged visual films! I did not see The Orphanage but hear great things about it! This film feels no different from other Bayona films yet still with a Jurassic Park feel! I think we are in for a treat. in The First Jurassic World we got Hammond's dream realized, Disney with Dinosaurs and I loved that! with Fallen Kingdom it looks like we are getting a Gritty, Dark, Epic horror film! I think in the Trailers they want you to think Blue is the hero but I feel there will be a twist may be she turns on Owen and the good guys and they have to shoot her? or may be the new dino kills Blue?
The best part of Jaws is the music tells the story. You rarely see the shark. You can tell by the music when it's close by or far away. JP works best and is scariest when (a) opening scene, you don't see the dinosaur at all, you get the music, you hear the shrieks and noises of the dinosaur, and then the guy screaming as he's attacked (b) the first dinosaur in the park is a no show - the fear of the unknown is scary, (c) the goat is put out and nothing happens until you finally see the ripples in the water from the vibrations - the dinosaur isn't scary, it's the anticipation of it coming and what it's going to do, (d) the electric fence about to turn on, has nothing to do with the dinosaurs but you're scared for them, (e) being hunted by the Velociraptors in an enclosed space when they're trying to get the power back on and in the kitchen with the kids - the fear of being hunted where you're the animal and no longer in control is scary. That's why JP works. Nothing in the Fallen Kingdom trailer was scary to me.
How often in Jaws did you hear the music without at least seeing the dorsal fin of the shark breaching the surface of the ocean?
Many times. David W. Collins breaks it down in The Soundtrack Show podcast. The opening shot of the girl being eaten, no shark, no fin. All music. Near the end, they chase after the floating barrels. No shark. No fin.
Sure, but go watch the movie again. See how many times you don't see the shark. You'll be surprised. The Silence of the Lambs - scary movie right? Hannibal Lector - very ******* creepy and scary. Magnificent performance by Anthony Hopkins, right? During the 2 hour runtime, he's has 24 minutes and 52 seconds of screentime.
So far I have seen 4 Jurassic Park Films and only didn't like one of them, The Third one. I don't know to each his own I guess I think most people I talked to weather In person or on line really enjoyed Jurassic World! Just seeing Jimmy Buffet grab two Land Sharks as he was being dive bombed by pterodactyl's was worth the price of admission alone! My Family are huge Jimmy Buffet Fans we felt that was a great cameo! My family also loves Disney World were all Annual Pass Holders If JW didn't have a feel like a Disney theme park or Disney Springs which is a great shopping and dinning experience unto itself! Jurassic Park was never something that lived up to Hammond's dreams or expectations Jurassic World would have met Hammonds dream I believe. Finally Neal Scanlon was brought on board to do Animatronics and apparently Fallen Kingdom will have way more Animatronics which should make fans really happy! Jurassic park back in 1994 finally CGI/Visual Effects were good enough that Spielberg did show us Dinosaurs just as much that were shown in JW or will be shown in Fallen Kingdom. I was there opening weekend in 1994 and I was there opening Weekend in 2015 both were magical experiences for me! my two favorite movies in 2015 were TFA and JW both were great films IMHO!!!
I know you're not seriously comparing Hopkin's performance in TSOTL to a monster movie. He wasn't even the antagonist of the movie; and yet to this day his performance is still revered far more than that of Buffalo Bill's.
I think peoples biggest complaint were the Trained dinosaurs that wasn't a problem for me when it was posed to me this way, "Dolphins are trained to work with Military, Lions Tigers and bears are trained and in a lot of cased the animals turn on there handlers which most likely the Raptors will turn on there trainers and wont be holding guns as originally feared" I believe someone on here said all that I was paraphrasing but that is the gist and when you think of It that way its not that bad and you sit back eat your pop corn drink your soda and enjoy the movie! Made the movie a hell of a lot better for me!
No matter how scary, real, or gigantic the dinosaurs in the new Jurassic World movies are, they'll never give me the same raw emotion that I had the first time I saw a brachiosaurus along with Ian, Ellie, and Alan.
The point I'm trying to make is the length of time - the amount of time to see Hannibal or don't see him VERSES the amount of time you do and don't see the shark in Jaws. The very absence of the thing we fear can be just as scary or maybe even scarier than when it's actually present.
