The trailers and TV spots are chock full of talk of betrayal and mistrust, so I'd argue we're being led to believe that a lot of that will happen.

"Good Thing You Were Listening" I'm guessing may be Beckett betraying Han after telling Han to assume everyone will betray him. Sort of like a Littlefinger "I did warn you not to trust me".

As for Qi'ra, based on Kasdan's previous work Body Heat with a femme fatale and Kasdan saying he based her on Jane Greer's character in Out of the Past, my guess is her playing both Han and Vos. We've seen pics of her looking like part of a couple with Vos, so I think she manipulates Han that Vos is holding her hostage and convinces him to go along with some kind of plan to take all the loot for themselves so they can run off together, and also at the same time telling Vos she will sucker Han into thinking they're in it together but then take his share of the loot for them to share. Then in the end she tries to take off with the loot for herself, but gets killed somehow. However, knowing how obsessed KK is with female empowerment and Disney probably not wanting an outright female villain, I predict her having a change of heart and then trying to save Han but then dying somehow in the process.

What I'm curious is how the escape pod comes into play, since it's clearly missing at the end of the movie something must happen to it. At first I thought that Qi'ra might escape in it, but it looks like the end where everything goes wrong is on the desert planet at the end, not during the Kessel Run.

According to Last Shot, Han just gets rid of a lot of Lando's additions to the Falcon because they're not his style, and he wants a faster, more practical ship. So I'm betting he just takes the front pod off. No other story behind it.

It seems weird they would go through all the trouble of making toys with the new Falcon design and then showing the difference between the old and new Falcon in the trailers if there isn't some plot point involved though. But it might in the end be something really simple like maybe they need to go faster in the Kessel Run so they jettison the escape pod to make the Falcon lighter?

Rather than a plot point, it's simply a character point in a character-driven narrative. The souped up Falcon reflects Lando's character, and the stripped down one reflects Han's character. It's good storytelling, IMO.

I think there are still things about this film we do not yet know. We thought we had TLJ mapped out but there were some surprises to be sure Spoilers and Trailers didn't tell the whole story.

I have a feeling the John Williams track The Adventures of Han is a strong indication we'll be getting more than just Solo. It'll be the opening track we anticipate hearing, and what we associate with the beginning of a new Han standalone. Alden has a 3-film contract, which was perhaps created in the event Solo is good enough to pursue more films with Han. The title of this track just makes me think Solo is just the first in a series of separate adventures....... standalones that commence and conclude. It seems Disney & LFL are commited to making more.

I think if Alden goes over well and the film is a big hit then sequels seem likely to me.

The big question though is whether a Lando film will come first (with Han featuring in that).

I think they’ll keep both characters together, but I do agree we’ll probably get sequels for this.

I think they really want to work with Glover again, and there is a separate Lando movie in the works. But they can easily cross the streams as needed.

Isn't Savareen a sector/system rather than a planet though? Either way, exciting to speculate from looking at that list!

So, it looks like Beckett and Val (and Durant) are on Mimban to steal the AT Hauler after all. Must say that I'm most impressed with all the cast so far, this might turn out to be the finest crafted SW movie...

    Great scene, isn’t it?

And yeah. It was Occam’s Razor on this one. As I suspected, they go to Mimban to get the hauler for the Vandor job, and Han just happens to get mixed up with them. It’s a straightforward heist movie.

ETA: On another note, as the native Mimbanites seem almost tribal, and the fight on Mimban looks to be seriously high-tech and explosive, has anyone entertained the possibility that Saw’s partisans are helping the Mimbanites fight the Empire, and they launch a surprise attack?

I do agree that a sequel is likely. I just hope it doesn't mean the demise of the Obi-Wan film.

I would guess that they will use the name Coway instead of Mimbanite. They seem to look reasonably advanced and their advantage is that they are on home soil. I also get the impression that they are on nobody's side and will try to attack the Empire's slave labour force (where Han saves Chewbacca's life).

Yeah, I'm just saying Mimbanite because I don't know what they'll end up calling the natives. They do look like Coways, though.

Where did you hear it was a sector? Would be really odd, I think, to describe a standoff in a sector. Like saying "Outer Rim Standoff." In any event, we'll learn soon enough.

Unless the Savareen Standoff is a nod to the Brandy Wars of the First Republic?

So, it looks like the first encounter with Vos happens close to the mountainside villages of Vandor. The second and final on Savareen. Does that mean that the Cloud-Riders are the henchmen of Vos himself or do they have their own 'Pirate Ship' for getting to and from planets?

Right. As I noted in my predicted breakdown of the film, they first meet Vos on Vandor, and then on Savareen.

Re: The Cloudriders, I'm guessing that they are independent, but temporarily affiliate with Vos in order to disrupt Beckett's team (for some unknown reason probably related to Vos's dislike of Han, which may be fueled by jealousy).

I thought I read somewhere that Vos played 'gangs' off against each other. If he put word out that he needed some Coaxium to power his ship (if it is a very expensive wonder fuel) then maybe the Cloud-Riders try to take it from Beckett's Mob to curry favour with Vos?

I honestly think they see the most money with the iconic characters that George Lucas has already created. The Obi-Wan movie is probably going to happen because of the character’s popularity.
