Wikipedia is reliable most of the time. Some of the info on there is false, and that’s why teachers don’t want you using it. But please no one pretend everything on there is made up mumbo jumbo.

I always get really defensive about Wikipedia for some reason.

 

Dude I wish we could use Wikipedia in school like if you need to know someone's birthday or something I mean Wikipedia's gonna be right

 

I think teachers don’t really care as long as you don’t use Wikipedia as your entire source. Plus, you’re not usually asked to cite everything unless it’s some huge paper, so for the small little details you can use whatever. And even if it is a huge paper, it’s not like they have time to go through every single source to make sure you’re being truthful.

 

my problem mainly with the Wik is not so much the accuracy or inaccuracy of it's articles (peoples place of Birth aside) but the opinion of mine that it's not an encyclopedia:

that's a textbook definition of something, not an encyclopedic entry for the masses.
